All modern aircraft look the same is a requirement of the aerodynamics! The most important thing is the engine! Only a few countries in the world able to produce modern aircraft engines. Russia among them. Primary manufacturer of aircraft engines in Russia - Perm aircraft plant. We have a PS-90 and the latest PD-14 engine! We build the MS-21 is the newest plane!
The Tu-204 was designed to replace the outdated Tu-154 in the late ' 70s. the Fact that he looks like a Boeing 757 - pure coincidence! All modern aircraft look the same! It demands of aerodynamics!
Very interesting airplane design! Very narrow and long, with huge engines in a retro shape. Intriguing noise, with a very high pitched whizz. Much appreciated upload!
mainstream sux No, it's a poor man's copy of the 757, technically it's a TU-204-200.It has larger fuel tanks than the standard 204.There are 10 of these in operation. Aeroflot still prefers a mix of the 320 family and Boeing 777s. Rossiya and Transaero are the 204-200 operators. I believe both are now out of business their assets turned over to Aeroflot. The Transaero 747-8Fs were kept by Aeroflot
Not so poor man´s copy of B757, because TU-214 use three channel FBW flight control system, B757 doesn´t it. TU-204 (shorter version of TU-214) was the world second civil aircraft which used it, after A321, which fligt two years sooner, than Tupolev.
I would think that the Tupolev 204 & 214 would be a suitable candidate aircraft to fill the M.O.M = Middle Of the Market Aviation segment. Or partially gap the M.O.M Segment at least for the time being!..
@@Blime2913 the Tu-204/214 is a 30 year old design. However with some major avionik upgrades, more CFK and new engines (there is definately space for big high bypass engines under the wing) it could work. But you wont get much more passengers into the plane than the A321ACF. Just one problem remains: its no "western built" aircraft.
There is something about Tupolevs especially with russian engines transaero uses Perm PS90 they are so cool and sound fantastic so much better than the ever so boring airbuses
+MMR Aviation Its performance and weight is an almost exact match with the 757-200 with upgraded engines. It was certified to use the RR RB211-535 engine, but there never was a commercial version, and the engine is now discontinued.
Well.......at least the next coming years this aircraft type will be very common (instead of rare) in Russia and their friendly nations..... If the future doesn't deceive, it will be produced in large numbers overthere..... same story for the stunning Il-96-400..... That will be VERY good news for aircraft enthusiasts and scale model collectors (like me...)
I think it is a cross between a B757 and a narrower A300 with a little MD11 design( if you look at the cockpit window sideways and also the location of the window of the exits).
Cakra Diaz In terms of capacity, Yes. The latest A321 are also close in capacity. But don't know whether a 739 can stand the trans-Atlantic rigor that the 757 used to handle on full load, also the twr of the 757 was similar to a fighter plane... the 739 run on CFM54s.
Russia will need this planes now more than ever and show Boeing and Airbus what a real quality aircraft should be. It can easily out compete Boeing in terms of reliability, now that Boeing had few too many disasters.
No, it use russian PS-90A engines. "PS-90A is rated nominally at 16000 kgf (157 kN, 35,300 lbf) thrust, 13.3% less than the original Rolls-Royce RB211-535E4 engine (which is also offered on the Tu-204), and the fuel consumption is 8.2% less than it."
@@kovalewski wings are mainly made from metals instead of carbon fibre reinforced plastics but more importantly the engines are way less fuel efficient compared to western models.
@@ouueee MC-21 is a modern and competitive narrowbody aircraft. Sadly the program has seen constant delays due to western sanction making sourcing of western CFRP and powerplants impossible. Russia is currently working hard to Russify the aircraft with PD-14 engines and a wing made of russian manufactured CFRP. However this wing is 300kg heavier but even so this aircraft is needed for Russias domestic aviation fleet.
nope, this is the first time Tupolev dealt with conventional-model main landing gear, whilst they always attached main landing gears to a special pods at the middle of the wings(see Tu-104, 124, 134, particularly 154--it's awesome to see the folding mechanism).
Wow, the legendary TU sound!
RA-64518 is in service again with Red Wings :D
That was one awesome catch! The sound of those engines spooling up was quite impressive. Awesome video!!

AlexVon AlexVon finally someone who speaks truthfully.. not make countries can produce airlines let alone engines
I've always had a thing for modern russian planes. They're so good imo.
The basic design is still the same, long aluminium cigar, 2 chopsticks sticking out the side with 2 hair dryers….zzzzz

I love that engine sound!

well it got more slimmer body, noticeable at the belly part--where the main bogies and the wings attached.
AlexVon AlexVon THANK YOU!
super rare catch - even 8 years later it looks amazing
The sound of the turbines surprised me. Yes, I sometimes confuse it with a Boeing 757.
Looks more like an airbus

Looked to me like a cross between a 757 and an A321, but I'm sure it's a very good airliner that can stand on its own.
Average? Tu-214 is only 5 feet shorter than the 757.

Beautiful plane and beautiful take off.
I've never heard of this airplane before, but it sure is pretty! ✈️👍🏼

Amazing! Best wishes from Macedonia!
That engine sound on takeoff reminds me of old-school jumbo jets, the really old 747-400s.

The aircraft looks old, but in that cases, it looks like a 757-200 with the engines looking like the RB211, but sound like the PW Engines!

when ever i see this plane i see the 757 :) !!!!!!!!
Russian 757. Lol
LORD RAGLAN lol boy yeah
Its the effectiveness of the 757 airframe that inspired this jet. Never figured out why the Americans discontinued that beauty of an aircraft.

Them PS-90A engines sound alot like CFM56s, just...better? xD
It is looking good camparable with boeing all is need is gps satellite communication and passengers entertainment .
Why is the APU running in - flight?
On this plane APU switch off after take off.
This plane uses the APU for take off and landing...

It can compete with A321 easily. The TU214 can still be stretch. .The price is cheaper and airlines can afford it.
