My honest opinion on why they chose to use the nanofibers in the show: Wade just wanted to try them out. He said it himself, they’re traitors to humanity. Maybe there was a way to spare them, maybe not, but I don’t think Wade cared enough to try. He wanted to strike back at the San Ti with a show of force.
@@Anon-qp3kt That's the explanation given in the books, yes, but they never justify that in the show so I don't consider it applicable. When you're adapting a show so differently from the book you can't assume the information from the book will be the same in the show. The only explanation they gave in the show was that it would incapacitate everyone on board without giving them the chance to destroy the information, anything more you have to interpret for yourself.
From what I understand, a Sophon is a super computer that is the size of a world, or however big they want it to be. They unraveled a proton and hid this super computer in the 4th dimension (it goes up to 10) and is completely undetectable. Due to its nonexistent mass, it could move at faster than light speed, moving ahead of the fleet and allowing it to prepare the way for the San Ti. The Sophons are linked using quantum entanglement, meaning any and all communications and movement will happen on the other side, regardless of distance. There is no hiding from a Sophon either, not even if they built a feraday box like sheera alluded to. It exists beyond the 3rd dimension and is too small to be locked out. Theres is only one way to hide your intentions from it, which we will find out later.
yall have to search what a dimension really is, all kinds of media have had a wrong representation confusing them with parallel universes. And this is important for next seasons
Yeah its freakin insane. Really cant do shit to a proton. Were talking the size of a atom 🥴 The makings of what were all made of they said "yeah lets make a computer out of it"
Sophons are proton size. They can pass through any matter with no issue. A box isn't going to stop them from spying on ya. Humans do figure out a trick of sorts though.

Not only that, but how far forward in the story that particular idea comes about...
bruh i got spoiled lmao, but i was thinking like 2 or more boxes with a self sustaining ecosystem and scientists and scientific equipment and military tech built with walls that dont allow any protons to enter or exit, all of them close at the same time so the sophon can only be present in one of them then all three research for 100-200 years without multiple generations of these boxes seeing the world till weve advanced enough then we go full guns blazing warhammer40k on them fugly motherfuckers, tell me how hot or cold i am to the actual thing but please dont spoil further haha
She's crazy smart like wtf. Nobody can claim that's her having read ahead because it's a simple and elegant solution that just makes sense.
This episode stucks in my head weeks after i watched the show. It was so epic😆
I'd like to mention that according to most of human history our greatest advancements are always in periods of war.
18:37 had me actually in tears oh my GOD that was too good
I remember of all things the book series Animorphs pointed out humanity's scary ass progress speed. Ax pointed out pretty much the same thing the computer lady did about humans, and I think he theorized that why the Yeerks wanted to take Earth so badly even beyond having bodies to live in.
17:30 This is how i imagine Sukuna's cursed technique would look like in live action... But way faster...
Nah I'm full in Auggie's shoes. We're talking about innocent children. I want to stop the bads but I'm gonna be freaking out just like her about the innocents and trying to find a way to save them.
I’ve been waiting for you to get to this episode. Gave me chills
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who felt goosebumps after the sophon scene, like that shit is genuinely terrifying
I was waiting for them to see this. Their reactions did not disappoint!
Love you guys, really on the ball with this wacky headbender of a show.
By the way the Sophons are protons, which are particles; they are even smaller than a single atom. It's ... really out there stuff imagining being able to stretch a single particle into a space as big as a planet.
I am so glad that I should be able to get this audiobook from the library in 2-3 weeks.
Another commenter typed it already, the nanofibers cuts so finely that any damage to the hard drive would be easily fixed
The editor should have added a "MY LEG" sound clip when the old man broke his ankle lmao
15:39 Sukuna joining a Netflix show:
28:07 This is why I like the whole series because it's all about Fermi's paradox. killed or to be killed in the vast cosmic forest.
33:41 Doctor who had something just like this lol. A black box that absolutely nothing can get in or out of. Not even a single atom.
Pandorica?
Ep 5 is the greatest episode in tv history
Sukuna is so OP that he even went to a whole different show
Sukuna really went hard in this episode ! 🔥
'' SHOOOT HIMMM'' come back to intro please editor 😭
Yesssss!!!! I don't know why he took it out
From what I understand, a Sophon is a super computer that is the size of a world, or however big they want it to be.
Yo we’re cooked😭
wait till season 2 for the whole space war and resolution, one of the best most unique sci fi stories i've read
yall have to search what a dimension really is, all kinds of media have had a wrong representation confusing them with parallel universes.
And this is important for next seasons
Me. Wade is Cecil’s backstory before he locked in with the government 💀
33:33 Genius as she'd always been. Except that "box" already existed.
Could not wait for you all to get to this episode.
They had to do it while everyone was awake so noone was sleeping have a chance to slip through the nano fibers
This made me so happy they did this way later I think at the end of 2nd book but this adaptation is just so good can’t wait for season two
Yeah its freakin insane. Really cant do shit to a proton. Were talking the size of a atom 🥴 The makings of what were all made of they said "yeah lets make a computer out of it"
Smaller than an atom. Subatomic.
Sophons are proton size. They can pass through any matter with no issue. A box isn't going to stop them from spying on ya. Humans do figure out a trick of sorts though.
This episode was so good. Just wish they added a little more from book 1 and ended the season on this episode. Instead of adding 3 more episodes of book 2 onto the end of it. Made the end of the season a bit unsatisafying, but I can't wait to see how they adapt season 2
Onion Knight giving Cecil from Invincible
Bro they sent those kids into Sukuna’s domain lmao
She has become death. She now has the destroyer trophy. Calling her Oppenheimer for the rest of the show.
That scene reminds me of that the cruise short film. It gives me a PTSD since I was a child
Sukuna would be proud of how they cleaved and dismantled that Ship.
The computers arent the size of planets. They are smaller then atoms.
Yeeeeeeaaaahhh!!!😂
Let's go I've been waiting.
Domain Expansion: Malevolent Boat.😬😬😬
They out here with Sukuna technology.
16:47 The fear in their faces after coming to the realization.
This is why this channel is S-tier.
The episode I’ve been waiting for!
WAR NEVER CHANGES❤❤😂 LOVE THE VID
The switch ups on shera mb if idk hiw to spell it are always the best lol
4th dimensional beings, they can literally see you on the toilet in 4k
but why the toilet?? those aliens are freaks.
That scene reminded me of the opening scene of a movie called ghost ship
Such a great scene! Like "Holy shittt!!!!!"😧
that ankle scene gave me the eek more than the cutting parts.
This show kind of slow burner, but this episode is the HOOK
Killing science is such a menacing thing to do, my jaw dropped
THE NUMBERS MASON , WHAT DO THEY MEAN !
The first scene I saw of this show was the paper cutouts in the hallway.
I walked while it was playing on the TV.
This lady really didn't understand the assignment when they asked for her nano fibers.
The boat scene might even top the plane scene from the first season of The Boys for me. That was crazy.
Damn i knew they gonna laugh 😂
My most favorite part in the 1st book and in the netflix adaptation in this episode is when they really said "you are bugs"
The netflix version did not show the different faction among the ETO
they messed up, contacting us ,it truly shows their lack of knowledge of humanity ,the more you pressure humanity the faster we grow
