- INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 1/29/2022 3:47 am
LOCATION: Northbound I-5 @ Civic Center
CITY: National City
DETAILS:
The California Highway Patrol received a call of a wrong-way driver heading Southbound in the Northbound lanes of the I-5 Freeway from S.28th St.
A Photojournalist with ONSCENE.TV happened to be in the area and heard the call come out. The Photojournalist aware of the wrong-way driver, Headed Northbound on the I-5 in hopes of seeing the wrong-way driver pass on the freeway.
As the photojournalist continued Northbound, he spotted the vehicle pulled over on the left shoulder of the freeway. The photojournalist quickly made a decisive move to park his vehicle in front of the wrong-way driver to prohibit the driver to continue driving the wrong way.
The photojournalist made contact with the driver and suggested turning the vehicle off and checking on the welfare of the female driver. The California Highway Patrol arrived and detained the female driver so they could clear the freeway.
After exiting the freeway, the female was requested to perform field sobriety tests to determine if she had been drinking. After several tests, a breathalyzer test was given and it was determined she was 3 times over the legal alcohol limit. (.19) The female was also underaged and she was arrested without incident.

Nice to see a video about a wrong-way driver without a horrific crash.
I was inches away from having a head-on collision with this particulate wrong-way driver this morning on my way to work. I was barely able to swerve to the side. Thankfully nothing happened and I was able to go on with my day. I feel BLESSED. Glad to know she was stopped from causing any accidents or hurting anyone. Drive safe everyone, keep your eyes on the road.
Oh man! Glad you weren’t hit by that driver. 👊🏽
Best of luck bro, glad you're here to be able to tell us about it instead of us having to read that you were part of the story.
@@morenabonita8834 Thank you! It was very intense. Grateful for another day 🙏🏻
Praise Jesus for Roberto..
@@stanr8946 Exactly, tell me about it. Thanks.
Ok, there’s a lot to say here but: To keep it short, the photojournalist risked his own life & probably saved her young life as well. This was a head-on double fatal waiting to happen. Also, her age is no excuse. She’s old enough to know better & why the hell is she driving alone at 3:47am? WTF? In any case, I’m glad everyone was safe & hopefully she learns from her mistakes.
Agree 💯
She was out drinking obviously.
I understand and agree with the rest of your sentiments, but "why the hell" are you upset about someone driving alone at 3:47am?
@@warpedweirdo Well, for One, she is a minor! Two, she was drunk and Three, she was going the wrong way!
@@jaminova_1969 I didn't catch the part about being a minor. Thanks.
Ballsy move on the part of the photojournalist that may well have saved lives!👍
Agree 💯
Yo no sé porque madres le dan licencia de conducir a ese tipos de personas que manejan briagos pero es estados unidos el país más sivilisado jajaja
I like how she puts the sun shade down to block the photojournalist’s oncoming lights.
there were 3 wrong way drivers in different locations last in reported in 1 hour period. what the hell is wrong with these people?? seriously how the hell do you get on a freeway going the wrong way and continue to not even notice. there is just something really wrong about this. they should have their license revoked period.
i dont get how people miss the reflectors on the ground . they light up red when your going wrong way
THEY NEED TO BUILD A SPIKES ON THAT WRONG WAY SIGN CALIFORNIA HAS PLENTY OF MONEY
Wow he risked his life on so many levels. Thank you sir for helping. Be safe out there. Glad this didn’t end badly for him. ♥️
Having an actual emergency lane helped. Caltrans is so strapped for land that they've converted emergency lanes into regular lanes.
Kudos to your colleague, Doug! 👍🙏🏼.
Be safe out there, Doug.,
Doug Doug Doug Doug Doug Doug
@@thatonebeone all of the time huh?
Got to say... better in handcuffs then dead or being charged with vehicular manslaughter... or both!!
Thank you for helping keep other drivers and her safe!
Great job .. You saved at least 1 life
Wrong way *Drunk female* driver should had been the title
She's a Latina. He didn't want to offend them...
This life experience should be a great lesson for her.. “Learn from this young one. You could of injured / killed yourself and others.” God bless you.
That’s why I told my Daughter Years ago No questions asked I will pick you where ever your at just don’t behind the wheel. She is 22 now and I still tell her that.👍
My parents weren't that progressive, but my BF's Uncle made us the same promise and he came through. His disappointment though was way worse than anything the cops had to say!
I wonder when our country and states are going to pull our heads out of our asses and have much harder driving tests and something that actually TEACHES you the laws of the road....driving is a privilege, not a right...because of people like this. We give a license to drive, literally to anyone, as if it's a right. If you are not a good driver, you should not have a driver's license, period.
Throw the book at her. Time for a wake up call.
👍
Beyond the lives saved and the lessons to be learned, take note on how the officers handled this. They knew she was obviously remorseful to start with and she did not give an attitude or push back on responsibility for her actions in driving the wrong direction. The officers treated her with respect and made sure the handcuffs were not too tightly adjusted. It shows that if you respect the officers and they job they do, your earn that respect back from them even in a situation such as this.
Now you know why it is best during the witching hours to drive in the slow lane because drunks often go wrong-way in what they think is their own slow lane, which is the fast lane for proper direction. Thankfully she remembered to put her lights on, many DUI's drive without lights. During day, slow lane is not a good travel lane unless you are slowed than speed limit, since it is the 'conflict lane' with on/off ramps.
🤣🤣no more TJ clubbing for you anytime soon
Her mother must be so proud 🙈🙄
Can't help seeing the metaphor... maybe her life's heading in the direction!?
Good job by the photojournalist👍
GOOD JOB CHP 👏🏿 THERE THE BEST THEN ANY OTHER COP IN THIS COUNTRY the CHP in the Troopers their performance are amazing there job duties
I always thought the location of Club 13 was odd. The area is literally a ghost town after dark.
Used to be a hangout for shipyard workers and the navy squids.
There is also a microbrewery in the area.
Future smoking cannbis bars
My great grandmother used to hangout there in the 50s and 60s 😂 sadly she was an alcoholic
The legal alcohol limit for a person under 21 is .01. She is 19x over her legal limit.
.08 is the limit
It is illegal for any person to operate a vehicle with a:
BAC of 0.08% or higher, if the person is 21 years old or older.
BAC of 0.01% or higher, if the person is under 21 years old.
BAC of 0.01% or higher at any age, if the person is on a DUI probation.
@@911VideoNews your comments section is teeming with racism
There are 163 countries that drive on the right-hand side of the road. A total of 78 countries and territories drive on the left. About one-quarter of all of the world's roads and about 35% of the world's population drive on the road's left side.
In the U.S., drivers decide which side of the road (or ditch, embankment, field, someone's front lawn, etc.) to drive on.
Female: “cries”… I’ve never been in handcuffs….”cries some more”
Cop: No? I have, but just for training purposes… 😂
9:06
She better get used to it if she continues to make bad choices in life! What is that, her leash? At 11:15
Lol 😂
She could have easily said "I've never been in a casket before." This is the price we pay for allowing them turn our country into a country within a country. Favoring them...
Lmfao
Quietest drunk I've ever seen.
This young lady likely has a history of lack of accountability. She missed out on the drunken bumper cars though…
You don’t know what her history is.
@@denisemiller9921 yea we do, going the wrong way
This totally makes me so nervous to get out there and drive but I'm studying for my permit. Driving is a privilegio
The best advice I was given was, "Never drive beyond your ability to react" and "Expect the unexpected". I don't know if they still teach "Defensive Driving" but if you take a class, they usually lower your insurance rates.
Expect everyone else to be an idiot.
Nice job blocking them. Ballsy move, but that saved lives. Thank you.
Good job dude, you just save lives -stay safe✨ Been watching your channel for years now✨
Thank God she had the awareness to pull off the highway!!!!
If you see Red reflectors when you get on the freeway, You Are Driving the Wrong Way!
Yikes! that was a tragic mess avoided
Doug you saved lives tonight you deserve recognition 👍👏👏
Nope, it was Freddy
Insurance rates will sky rocket for her if they let her to continue. Traffic school, fines are over due. goody goody goody.
Nice catch! Thank God nobody was hurt this time.
This was just the beginning of the night. You can bet your ass there will be more of them. Comes with the culture...
That photojournalist probably save someone's life hooray for him
This guy is DA MAN!! Thank you!!
Where is the full video?
I remember first seeing this, then seeing her at work a week later lol
Time for AA
The photojournalistis is good guy, thankyou Doug.
There HE is!!
I am shocked and shook that this is as common as it is. Whyyyy people?
Looks to me like a highschool heartbreak story that made her do all this . Lol
i have a room and its also called a "Prison"
She was wearing a hot outfit to die for.
She is very lucky to be alive.
Did that cop stop in the middle of the traffic lane? I hope they set up a traffic break. Looks like they did.
was she drunk? probably not. this is just a traffic incident that doesn't need an arrest. You will arrest anyone anyways.
Thank God. Who knows how many people you saved tonight by getting to her first.
Enjoy your first DUI young lady, close to 30 g's by the time you're done and say "Hello" to public transit for a long, long time.
No DL for LIFE 😡
A bit harsh don't you think? Maybe she can go on some ride alongs to see how it could've turned out
@@bonnieblenders4606 She should at least have her license revoked for 5 years.
@@bonnieblenders4606 I don't think it's too harsh, and ride alongs won't help. Everybody knows the dangers of drunk driving, and the laws prohibiting it, yet people still get behind the wheel while inebriated. Drinking is a mind trap, and those who take that first drink without having first arranged for transportation are accidents waiting to happen.
@@bonnieblenders4606 Harsh? Wait till she kills some innocent. I remember a judge that would sentence minors to community service at the morgue!
@@stanr8946 well that's getting better than the previous life sentence
Four Loko drinker should be thankful she was stopped. She may not been alive later.. and others.
Thank God she pulled over and you pulled in front of her. I was scared for you though between her car and the wall. #mscanttakemypurplehair
It was Freddy, my partner in crime (videos) lol!
While I appreciate the photojournalist for stopping her from causing a serious crash, he should not have gotten out of the car to confront her. You just don't know who you are dealing with. Just like the sailor who tried to be a Good Samaritan in San Diego, that was shot and murdered by gangbangers who thought he was the guy they just robbed!
She also could have simply run over him, either accidentally or on purpose (thinking he was a cop coming to arrest her), and then when he squeezed between the wall and the car... BIG NO NO. The drunk could have turned the wheel and touched the gas peddle and he would have been crushed. And then there is the chance that it could have been an angry/suicidal drunk with a weapon, and he would have been an easy target, right in front of her headlights.
I don’t usually like to get involved in the stories I shoot but I made the judgement that night in order to save her or someone’s life. This was no different then being shot at a swat stand off or being hit by a unknowingly driver on the road. It’s a dangerous job and sometimes I have to make split decisions.
@@SoCalCode3 ok calm down bro , you document ppls worst moments for cash so let’s not start getting a hero complex.
@@SoCalCode3 I have to disagree with that comparison. You put yourself in front of a person who was still in control of a deadly machine, who is currently demonstrating (at a minimum) dangerously poor judgement, or perhaps even suicidal behavior. And due to the physical position of the vehicles, they could quite possibly assume you are a cop.
We don't want to see you get hurt. Pulling up to them was a good idea, but walking in front of their headlights so they would have a clear shot at you with a gun or the vehicle while you are boxed in.... yikes!
@@dansteinshouer300
But he is a hero he did save lives
Thank God she stopped on the shoulder.
That finger though
DRIVE AND SAFE OBEY THE TRAFFIC LAWS DONT DRIVE DRUNK SAVE A LIFE AND MONEY AND TIME ITS NOT WORTH IT YOU DONT EARN ANYTHING OUT OF IT BUT A FELONY RECORD
Why when he arrived on scene didn't he block the nearest lane?
Good job by your guy!!
“I’m tired”
I’m sure
It's crazy what this generation thinks drinking is good Weed> alcohol
She is a pure mess - she has no shoes on, string hanging to the ground off of her pants, gets out of the car with no top on BUT, she can afford make-up , fake eye lashes and jazzed up finger nails and lots of booze BUT she cannot figure out a thing about using the cheapest and easiest thing out there: common sense.
How did she get the keys? Why was she drunk?
Most people don't lock up their car keys. Alcohol makes you drunk.
@@DiogenesOfCa Good answer.
@@DiogenesOfCa Most people do not let their children play in their own bedrooms. I am assuming she was out by herself, without parents. If I put my keys in my bedroom, you stay the hell out. What, parents just leave their keys their money their guns out and something happens. Whos' fault is that? No, this sounds like HM from the beginning.
@@thomasstecyk792 you do know that a person between the ages 18 and 20 are underage for the consumption of alcohol, yet are considered adults.
@@onthewater4189 Yes and they still need a parents' signature. That is eighteen through twenty-one!!
why are there so many wrong way drivers?
Wth is going on in San Diego. Why does this so often.
She was moving out the way as if she was pulling out a park spot & continue on
I feel sorry for that girl
7:52 damm another one on rancho bernardo
Intelligence is deteriorating so fast the state needs to issue safety signs on those billboards reminding dipshits to drive the right way. Forget warnings on touching down power lines or any of that.
Uh... Have you not seen the recent messages displayed on highway light signs in SD stating, "DRIVE SOBER NOT WRONG WAY"?
Drunk dipshits don't care about messages on signs, so why waste communications space and time on them? Use the resource to make an impact on sober people.
Photojournalist wanted to be a cop but couldn’t pass the academy, still tries very hard to play one.
Tried to play a cop? No thanks, I don’t have the patience nor the energy to deal with the general public on a day by day basis. Let along to deal with idiots that make stupid comments like yourself.
Hey, Santana! FLICK YOLI.
Does it make you wonder why civil society continues to corrode ?
Yeah, including those school shooters that all have one thing on common 🤔
I hope this young girl isn't depressed and wants to do something drastic, and a very unwise choice😬
Lyft driver on duty call me up
Man not just women obviously but especially women these days, want to go party and overdrink yet can’t handle alcohol at all. Like look at her, the average person can be blacked out drunk and still be able to realize they’re going the wrong way. I almost feel bad for her but wrong way? come on dude it wasn’t like you broke a small traffic law and happen to be drunk aswell.

She almost hit me and my homies on our way back from TJ
Did you guys hit up Hong Kong?
@@serchizm usually do 😂 just went to a concert this time

Wow she was all dolled up. Probably teased a few guys and indulged in too many free drinks. Decided she had her fill of fun and made her escape leaving common sense far behind. Almost ended up a blob of meat.
she bad asl no kap rookie mistake tho
Was she going to the beach?! Or just driving in her leopard print bra?
Sup with all these Mexicans dui???
Targeted media, plenty of whites do it too but the media doesn’t fixate on them because there’s a narrative to push
That ain't new...
Dam bby why wat we’re u thinking or doing ,?:/ fuccc
Thicc
Close the borders
We all make mistakes, and She was not drunk, at night it is very difficult to see the signs and with many cars dazzling with their damn high beams I have no doubt that it will be difficult to drive perfectly. The police is not here to help no one they only make your life harder.
Get real! She is damn lucky she didn't kill someone. The majority of the time, the police do a really difficult job and are here to help. Don't lie you !
Tomy gyn: Desperate to get laid.
@@jaminova_1969 im not gonna lie some of them do help people but the majority of cops are bullshit and everyone knows that, i hope you never get in trouble by a mistake, they dint help in nothing if i would of been there ill tell the girl what to do to not cause an accident not treating her like a fucking criminal and taking it to jail to pay high fines that just fucked your record.
She wasn’t drunk? The breathalyzer test says different.
@@tomygyv3432 Drunk driving, distracted driving, and "wrong way" are serious criminal offenses because they are life threatening. I don't think we should ignore that. As far as the police go, the majority of the time I support them because it is a tough job to have to deal with some of the things they do. By the same token, we shouldn't allow bad cops to break the law either! I'm all for holding those "public servants" accountable, and I have done my part. The courts don't always deliver justice, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't try to work within the system.
Damm u should’ve help turn her car.. and just Uber her home.
Um, no.
Turning a car around on the highway is very unsafe. Wait for police assistance; they'll run the necessary traffic breaks. Letting a drunk-ass driver go home, free of consequences, is a shit move that encourages continued irresponsibility.
What is it that lead you to make that post? Are you guilty of driving drunk yourself? Is your judgement impaired by the sight of a young female in an inebriated state? What is it?
I was about to say WTF with letting her drive away but then I realized that once she was stopped, the cops didn't have any dashcam evidence of her driving the wrong way. Executing a traffic break, letting her turn around where she would not hit any innocent motorists, then pulling her over and giving her a field sobriety test will hopefully provide an airtight case for conviction.
As for the photog, yes he made a risky move but sometimes the greater safety of others outweighs the risk - he made a good call here, he deserves thanks.
As for the woman here, I am coming more and more to the conclusion that there are simply STUPID people out there who should not be allowed to either drink OR drive. Stunts like this should a complete revocation of their license, a period of 5 years before they can apply again, and a ban on commercial driving for life. I would suggest involuntary sterilization as well, but I'm sure it wouldn't go over well with the easily offended.
She was placed in a cop car while the other officer entered her vehicle and drove the car away. Once she exited with her hoodie on, she never got back into her car. 👀 👀 👀
Sitting in your car with the key in the ignition is all it take for operating under the influence.
No drunk illegal here.
What's her number? Asking for a friend.
