I am in SE Wi. I have 2 yucca plants and voles attacked them 2 years ago. After using voleX and spreading it in their trails it reduced them. Now after heavy snows we had a week of warmer temps and you explained exactly what I have new trails at 1 yucca that they made under the snow. I like your trap, peanut butter nail to ground w bucket and weight . Thank you.

It took patience but I got 2 voles! I also was putting out VoleX under the Yucca. BUT the 2 Voles were likely the main ones. I had 4 traps under 2 buckets. I removed all of the yucca leaves above grade and dug out most of it below grade and found their main food source at the base of the main stem at grade. I will remove the remaining root based on the weather. Grass is growing in lush due to the "aerating" of the soil by the voles! ;-} MANY THANKS!!

Another method that many old timers used to get rid of voles was a good 12 gauge shotgun with. .00 buckshot. Papaw used to sit in his rocking chair on the porch mornings and evenings just blasting away at any movement in the grass.

I have the little devils tunneling under the supports for my above ground pool. I’ve tried every deterrent. I even tried the blade drop type traps. Nothing seems to work. Their tunneling has actually created sinkholes under my pool liner. I actually drained the pool and will be doing a full liner replacement mid-Spring. I’m thinking i may need to pour deep concrete footings under the supports. And possibly use some sort of irritant in my sand padding under the liner.

I dont understand.. im doing all this, and in the morning the entrances are plugged shut, the traps untouched. So ill push the plug to the hole.. 6 hours later hole is plugged again...traps still set. And so on in a circle...ive tried gassing with my car, poison bait , flooding with hose, i also poured gas and transmission fluid down all the hole's, im going to the spca to get all the wild barn cars they have in the premises and try that next i guess. I cant use TNT because i live in the city with buried utilities

I found as many of the holes I could under the slap for the side walk mixed diesel with gas poured it in every hole we could but when we lit it was a loud back kick we killed some but 7 rat's made it out stealing like pigs on two of the holes we didn't see no babies. And a neighbor behind me called the fire department when they showed up we hid inside but lawnmower was in front I told them yes it was some guy in a hot ride with a back fire that made me duck and told it was so loud I was surprised it didn't blow windows out drag because I did want too repeat it in about 6 months

Like squirrels, I imagine for every vole you get rid of, three more return. They have destroyed my grass and trying for my roses. I am trying castor oil and dawn to drive them out. If it ain't voles, or chinch bugs, or fungus, or dollar weeds, or crab grass, or nutsedge or..... I think i will go natural. Getting tired of spending a fortune when my neighbors all have dried up weeds and bahia grass anyway. 😅

Good question. The nail holds down the trap to avoid it getting flipped over prior to the vole getting captured. Once the vole is captured there is no concern if it would flip over or not.
