Two verses of music for one verse for dancing, thats new for me for this dance from R.A.Feuillet.

The source of this dance is Feuillet's 'Recueil de Contredances' Paris 1706. This relates the music to the floor pattern very clearly, but of course the dance then becomes much faster, and, I think, more fun. You can find a facsimile if you search the American Library of Congress Dance manuals - they have a website - but if you have trouble finding it I could send you a copy. With best wishes. Courtoisye.

@Claude 1. You can use skip change of steps as it´s done in Scottish Country Dancing. This makes the Dance faster and suitable to a fast Music.
2 The composer is Marin Marais, from an opera "Alcyone", written in the same year 1706 when Feuillet released his Recueil. There are fine recordings on UA-cam, e.g. with Jordi Savall

I've only ever heard this music at this speed. Another name for this dance is Female Sailor.

Would the dancers be able to keep up at twice the speed?
I read that a lot of dance music used to be played a lot faster as performance pieces than when there were dancers.

Pretty but half speed. Do you have the notation?
