That's because to a high extent Greek tradition is somewhat "conservative" and observes medieval European elements that were forgotten in other parts of the continent

This is indeed beautiful and calming! It's a glimpse into the Middle Ages that historians are helping us rediscover, challenging the 'Dark Age' stereotype. While it's true that this era faced significant challenges, like the Black Death (1347-1351), it's important to recognize that every period in history has its struggles. The 20th century saw devastating world wars, and today we grapple with health crises like cancer and HIV/AIDS, which are far more pervasive and deadly than anything the medieval world faced. Perhaps by viewing history more holistically, we can better appreciate the complexities of each era, including our own. This perspective might help us address current challenges with the same resilience shown by our ancestors.
I love medieval song. When I was for first time in Gent Belgium and I visit castle , I feel... I miss my past life. Or I was in Gent, in another life or I'm connected with a lost soul from the past.
This is beautiful. I’d love to be apart of this historical dance experience! Even dress through time costumes! How different our world changes as time goes by...look at the modern day clothes wearing people compare to those medieval clothes wearing people...
Had a strange dream a couple months back that I was dancing in the middle of a hustling and bustling medieval streets with a bunch of red skeletons and it kind of went something like this!😂

This is the same type of dancing I did at my Serbian church! :D There were occasional cheerful shouts as part of some dances but I don't remember clapping. The music is also slightly different but it just makes me so happy watching this. :) And I really love the flowers in the middle!

When I see a dance that speeds up like this I think of the Abrams brothers, filmmakers in the USA. They did a very irreverent but hilarious spin on this in a film of a funeral procession that I viewed at the Kentucky Fried Theater in Madison, Wisconsin while they and I were students there. I love the dance and it makes me chuckle.
I grew up learning this dance at our local Renaissance Fair. I learned a slightly different variant of the dance though, and we got a lot faster by the end XD It's killing me that I can't remember the name...

This is the class of things I would actually dance to. It's one of the only times I feel like I'd have fun dancing.
So true at my friends wedding this was one of only 2 dances i did
This looks a lot like a dance they did at a Greek festival I went to recently. I wonder how many other cultures still use these group dances today.
Armenians certainly use some of these moves, our dances are often done in circles!
True. I'm from Greece and I was thinking the same.
That's because to a high extent Greek tradition is somewhat "conservative" and observes medieval European elements that were forgotten in other parts of the continent
Some dances like this one still exists in Brittany (Western France) but they do it on every existing music x)
That's exactly like Greek dances.
For those who want to dance at home, the name of this dance is "Schiarazula Marazula". ❤ 🎵🎶
