one of the things i love about arne and carlos' channel is that they are always putting forth the fact that there is not one single way to knit.. there are many techniques from all over the world over hundreds of years. the wealth of options in knitting is what makes it so fascinating to me!
I just finished my second cardigan using the techniques described in your 4 part steeking series. This is by far my favorite way to make a cardigan and the plackets are by far the most beautiful way to finish the fronts. I hope that more people take advantage of this as they take their knitting to a new level. Never fear, you really can do it!!
I just watched your four part series on the steeking for my third time. It's so clear and it works perfectly I had a gigantic long cardigan lopi pattern and I just did what you said in the video and ignored the pattern instructions. I like your straightforward no-nonsense Style thanks so much for hosting these great tutorials.
I have used your method of steeking several times and each time it worked perfectly. I purchased a hand knit sweater at a second hand shop and I made it into a cardigan because I wear cardigans so much more than regular sweaters. I just found the center front, stitched on each side of the center with my sewing machine, and cut down the center. No extra stitch necessary! I just knit the front plackets and sewed them on all the way to the collar. All this thanks to you!
Happy Sunday, thx for sharing another skill with us.We don't have any moose here but lots of chippies for the dogs to chase.🐾.hugs from Milwaukee wi. 🤗🧶❤
Dear A & C just to let you know that I recently used your instructions for steeking on a sweater I bought second hand and it turned out great. Thanks so much.
I like the idea of steeking using a sewing machine so much more than other video's I've watched. I love to sew and feel so much more secure that way. Your video's were very clear, I've watched them a few times. Lovely room that you filmed in, I hope you're enjoying your cruise ! Enjoy your week !
I was looking all week for a steeking tutorial and when I found an ok one I was like "I wish Arne and Carlos had one that is a tutorial not just a sweater walk through" I am so happy to see this. I like your tutorials best. Between this and the steeking a cardigan playlist it makes an awesome and in depth tutorial
I love how you guys try to keep techniques simple and answer questions. I'm with you, why complicate things lol. Thanks and I am going to check out your steeking videos.
Love this video, I've never steeked before. I just completed four of your hats and gave them away for gifts. I will post on my Instagram. They not only came out beautiful but I'm learning the Norwegian way of knitting! Thank you for bringing us into your home. The added bonus is the dog and moose!
Hi A&C thanks for the vid. The cardigan is beautiful! Hope you are fine💕💕The room you are sitting in is beautiful and you have design it beautifully. Have a great week and Freja too🐶
This is the most beautiful room you are sitting in, wow! What is that marvellous red wallhanging behind Arne? It is amazing. And I love the old trunk and shaker boxes and the candlesticks. The couch is adorable as well. The ship I love too. Oh I cannot stop praising this lovely room. :-) Wonderful! :-) P.S. I prefer knitting everything in pieces. That is how we always did it in Germany when I was little. There were no circular needles back then and I feel so comfortable to just sculpture my sweaters with a front, back, sleeves and so on. Just my personal prefference. I do use circular needles though, except for when knitting socks :-)
I would love to see a video sometime on the artwork you have displayed in your home! I am always intrigued by the "what, who and why" of someone's home decor. The pieces I can see on the walls are just gorgeous and the little statue standing on the table really caught my eye! Have a lovely week and thank you for all the awesome videos. xoxo
Steeking still terrifies me, but with your tutorials I believe I will finally make that plunge. Thank you so much for all you do for the knitting community ♥️. Becky
I got excited when you said you were going to talk about Freya. I thought you were going to talk about the dog!!! She is so brave with all the Moose. Hope you are/will have a great time on the cruise. I am so jealous. I hope to join it one day.
I think I am going to start with a blanket like Latvian Garden. But use pattern designs for my son specifically. Basically you knit the blanket in the round with the added stitches, steek it and then sew it to a fabric backing. That way it wont matter about fit so first project being a little less stressful and then I can practice too.
I was at work when you did this podcast, but I just saw it, and wanted to say thank you for showing how to know in the round, you both have a wonderful week. Racine Jackson
Never steeked nor made a garment in the round. Nervous but I have it in my challenge for this year. Got a bit of homework to do first. Thanks from Australia 🐨🐨🦘🦘
We love waffles so much that we have 3 different styles of waffle makers in our kitchen. A traditional American, a Belgian style shaped like Mickey Mouse and of course heart shaped Norwegian thin waffles. Waffles for breakfast, lunch and dinner. But alas no brown cheese.
I almost thought you weren't happening today and then I realized it was because of our time change last night in Canada (clocks ahead one hour). Steeking sounds so scary, but I will keep an open mind and watch your videos on the process.
I saw a tutorial on preparing and cutting a steek where the knitter had made 2 sleeves at a time in the round using steeks at the cap area. She did not offer any instruction on making sleeves in tandem. Wondering if you have used this technique? Seems a good way to achieve identical sleeves. Assumed they were knit from the cuff up. Also wanted to thank you for the many videos you have shared. They have really helped in advancing my skills and I have many happy recipients of my knits.
Hi ARNE and Carlos I just find you both so interesting, I am from New Zealand and we are still in lockdown, fortunately NZ has been very lucky re the covid virus
I have a pattern for a pullover sweater and the instructions are exactly the same for the front and back pieces, so can I just cast on the stitches for the front and back and knit in the round?
Goodness, short! But as all on here acknowledge, the room is gorgeous. Thanks for the heads up, 3 or less stitches is no problem. My life motive, fudge it till you make it. XD
one of the things i love about arne and carlos' channel is that they are always putting forth the fact that there is not one single way to knit.. there are many techniques from all over the world over hundreds of years. the wealth of options in knitting is what makes it so fascinating to me!
Everyone should knit they way they feel comfortable
Loved this. You both look so relaxed. It like being invited in to your beautiful home for a coffee and a chat. Thank you so much xxxxxx

Circular needles are there since the 1900, my great grandmother knitted on them as a young woman and I believe she was from before 1900.
Hi Christina, thank you for sharing you story and method!
@@tinekejoldersma I have never seen any until the 80s :-)

You are welcome!
Thanks for sharing this information. It helped clarify what I need to know for my next sweater.
You are welcome Becky!
Too short video. Missed all the bantering. BUT, loved the steeking info. And knitting in the round. Thank you 😊.
Glad you liked it Maryann!

Hi ArneCarlos
Thanks for explaining. Love the red and white wall hanging. Is it one of yours?
I want to know more about that too. It's beautiful.

Yes, she is not afraid of the moose😀
Thank you for you Arne. No I have an idea how to change a motive to fit. It explains a lot that rowan writes the patterns.
You are welcome!
Freya is so adorable peeking out from behind Arne with her bright little eye !!!
She sure is.
I love being one of your subscribers!
Thank you Barbara!
Stunning jumper great video.
Thank you Pamela!
I am going to steek for the first time, sometime in 2020. Always good to see you two.
I'm with you on this one 2020 is the year

where can i get the pattern for the blue and white sweater shown?

Great slogan!
This is not a knitting related question, but does that window look into your green house, or is it spring? Love your drape also.
Is it no our green house but the back of our house.
I love watching both of you and seeing and hearing Freya. Please give Freya pets for me
We will Ginger!
❤❤😊
