You brought back memories of making a real fire, the noise of the ashes being brushed up and the crackle is so nostalgic, and drawing the fire with the paper. Such pretty decos, and love your kitchen, especially those tiles.
This looked so relaxing, a cup of tea by the fire...wonderful. You got your fire started so well. May you enjoy a wonderful Christmas break from these videos. You have spoiled us in the last few weeks...each one has been lovely. Thank you, Marion.🥰
Thank you, Marion! You are so refreshing. We're visiting our daughter in the US and have been doing all manner of Christmasy things. Your fire is lovely,
Dear Marion, just watching how much JOY you put into everything you do to create a festive Christmas for loved ones is a gift to me! Thank you for sharing your time and energies this busy season! It’s about the journey 🎄🎄🌹
Thank you Marion for sharing some of your day with us. Drawing the fire with the newspaper takes me back. One of my jobs when I was little was making spills for the fire from rolled up newspapers, I used to love that job. Who needed fire lighters once you had the knack. I hope you managed to get all your jobs done that you wanted to.
You always manage to drag up some memories!! OMG - lighting the fire and using huge sheets of newspaper to draw it up!! We did that growing up, till mum and dad got a gas fire. Funnily enough I’ve just posted a letter off to my Canadian granddaughter telling her about lighting fires in a morning and how sometimes the paper caught fire and we had to push it up the chimney. I also remembered about the chimney sweep coming and having to run down the garden and shout when I could see the brush coming out of the chimney pot. Still, the coal fire was useful for posting letters to Santa!! 🥰
Oh such lovely things. Everything is so warm and cozy. And if at all possible ... & could we get a closer look at that jeweled Christmas tree and how you created it. It's just gorgeous 🥰
Dear Marion, I have only recently found you on UA-cam. Thank you so much for all the work you put into giving us all these wonderful glimpses into you and your creative life. In the short time I have been following you I have started recording the weather in a book(sadly I am useless at painting and no way could I do a phenology wheel), I have just made the lemon curd as I had made some meringues and I had the leftover yolks(you were right so easy to make), plus you give me such inspirations for next years crafting projects. Thank you and I wish you all the best for Christmas.
Hi Marion thank you for letting us share your life! I find myself smiling big every time I get to watch you talk about your day, teach us a craft, etc… I feel like I’m there with you sharing a cup of tea and having a wonderful chat! I live in Washington state in the city of Camas. And I wish so much all of us who adore you could meet you in person. Your talents are endless! Enjoy decorating your tree!
hi Marion! your butterfly pin is so pretty on your sweater. i love your old kitchen scale.the christmas tree bunting is so neat. i forgot about them from last year. i've never seen that trick with the paper in the fireplace. quite effective. can't wait to see what you do with the cake. thanks for sharing these snippets of your day with us. linda from california
7:32 wow. I’ve never seen ‘read the paper’ that’s nifty. I’m in America and my family’s fireplaces were always wide front openings and not efficient at all. I seem to learn something on most episodes. Thank you for being you. Your a beautiful soul. Hugs
You put a lot on your plate each day to give us such comfort and joy. Thank you so much for sharing. Love the decorations. I will have to look up last years videos to see how you did the garland. I very much love the pearl tree shaped decoration beside the letter embroidery frame. Is it an owl? I love it. Bit of crow in me too I think lol. Sit back and have a good cup of tea for a day well done. Blessings.
I smiled at the thought of the crow hoarding all the shiny things. I heard you rummaging through your coal bin, I thought, “there arose such a clatter”. Sweet video, thank you.
Hi Marion, well it is 30 degrees here today. I would much rather be sitting in front of your fire on a cold day : ) thankyou for sharing your busy day. looking forward to seeing your tree. make sure you take time out for yourself and fill your cup x
So many similarities to our home; my mum‘s old Bernina, a k-mix and an open fire drawn with a piece of cardboard. We haven‘t got decorations up this year, but I don‘t mind as I can look at your beautifully crafted things and feel happy. Thank you so much for sharing.
The paper over the fire took me back to pre clean air days in Bradford, West Yorkshire. We used to prop the coal shovel in front of the grate, cover it with the Telegraph and Argos sheets and swoosh, a good draw and the fired burned. So much nicer than twiddling a thermostat dial!
Here I am watching you cook as I make Butter Tarts. I chuckled about the crow hoarding the silver. So realistic! Enjoy the rest of your day, Marion. ❤ Louise
I just love your channel. I smiled with the paper in front of the fire, reminding me of Dad doing that when I was small. I'm glad you have Luke around to help you, I have two of my sons who will help too and I really appreciate them. I know I'm running late putting decorations together but my 2 and 4 year old grandsons are going to help with my trees on Christmas Eve day. That will either work or it won't ha ha. If I don't see you before thank you so much for your friendship through the year. It's fun sitting with another crafter. I haven't your skills bit you are inspiring. I hope your Christmas Day is what you hope for. Take care =-)
When I was a child we had a coal furnace in the basement of one of our houses. A set of double doors opened on a cement landing with wide stairs leading up to our side-yard and driveway. My Dad had built a large area beside the steps, in the upper yard, for the pile of coal. He was at work when the dumptruck full of coal arrived, but he had instructed them where to put it. Imagine our surprise and and irritation at finding the coalmen had dumped the entire load of dirty black coal down our basement stairs?! It filled the steps completely and nearly tore the double doors off. Dad was the most patient man I ever knew. He never blew his stack or raised his voice. He just said to me, "Some folks just aren't very considerate." 😅 It made me want to laugh, it was such an understatement. He and I and my other siblings got to work moving all that coal out of the staircase and up to where it should have been. After that Dad never bought another load of coal. We switched to mill end slabs from the sawmill, or cutting our own firewood. Watching you make your fire brought it all flooding back. Thank you for another sweet day on your advent garland Marion, and sharing the pleasure of your company with us. 😊❤
Marion, we used to draw the fire like that when I was at home and even when we were first married. Many a time the paper would catch😂. We used to put a small shovel in front of the paper then it wouldn't get sucked in. Nice memories.
My Mum used to put newspaper over the fire like you.😃..and we used to make firelighters from pages of newspaper folded into long strips them 'plaited' together. It's looking very 'bonny'! ❤ Andrea
So lovely to see you starting the fire, it took me right back to my childhood. We always used to lay the fire with newspaper ‘coils’ with a nugget of coal in the centre of each one. As a child I had the job of making the coils :-)
Me too. Grandma always had me on the floor folding "firelighters" from when I went to nursery school. All the newspapers were broadsheets then...you always ended up with a beefy "coil". I don't have an open fire but I do religiously fold into self holding pleats plastic bags! Old habits die hard!
Oh Marion, I just made your almond fingers but I used my homemade lemony apple ginger jam and added lemon essence instead of almond. It is delicious. I'm going to make it with cherry jam and almond extract next time.
I never learned that trick for getting the fire going, very cool. Enjoyed tagging along with you today. I liked what you said about thinking of talking to the camera like there's just one person at the other end. Looking forward to the tree and the cake, whenever they get posted. I am trying to tidy up the crazy around here today, now that I'm home from appointments.
Oh my goodness, memories of my mam with the paper to get the fire going!! Have a wonderful Christmas Marion, really looking forward to next years projects ❤️
El cuervo es muy privilegiado!!, en casa tenemos estufa de leña pero cerrada con puerta de cristal y es muy acogedora además del calor cálido que desprende, besos Marion!
Hi Marion - Everything is looking so pretty and festive. Love the tree garland. Those cakes look yummy. Looking forward to the recipe. Fun day tomorrow putting up your tree. ❤️🎄❤️
Thank you once again Marion. Lighting the fire reminds me of my childhood, I was so worried every time my mum did that with the paper ! 😊 Sian from Wrexham
Once again Marion my past is flashing in front of me. Wood fireplace,[we had a wood and coal cooking stove as well] the coal. Those were hot fires, if that makes any sense..😂. Toasty warm. ❤..
We are due for a snow storm here in Nova Scotia canada. 15 -30 cm. So I delivered gifts to our sons ahead of time and cancelled our visit on 21st. It may well be a white Christmas.
My dad had a aluminium shield with a handle to draw up the fire, hope your paper sheet doesn't catch! Your Naomi is beautiful like you, gentle personality, love watching your vids. Where is your son living & working & do you see each other often?. Have a lovely xmas & N.Y. Jen in Reading UK. XX
Hello Marion, is there anything you don't excel - silly question, of course there isn't. Your house looks so nice and festive and thank you for sharing these days with us. Did you trim your hair up - it looks very youthful. I ask because my hair is much like yours except gray and droopy. Wish you were here to advise me. I so admire your spirit - the visit with Naomi did you a world of good. See you soon.
It's so funny to me that we, out here in UA-cam lands, enjoy so much just watching someone do their day! Bless you Marion. You're wonderful.
What’s not to love about a crow hoarding all the silver! Love it ❤
You brought back memories of making a real fire, the noise of the ashes being brushed up and the crackle is so nostalgic, and drawing the fire with the paper. Such pretty decos, and love your kitchen, especially those tiles.
Enjoy your cup of tea Marion. It's such fun getting all the decorations out ready to hang up and remembering how pretty they are all over again.🌲🌲🇦🇺
This looked so relaxing, a cup of tea by the fire...wonderful. You got your fire started so well. May you enjoy a wonderful Christmas break from these videos. You have spoiled us in the last few weeks...each one has been lovely. Thank you, Marion.🥰
I could have watched you puttering around for hours, it was so calming and with such a cozy feel. I loved it.
Enjoyed watching a bit of your busy day. I love how you decorate for Christmas- everything is so special and beautiful. 🎄🎄🎄

I’ve never seen that paper thing done with a fire before. We learn something every day! Feel better soon, Marion❤️🇨🇦
Oh I would not want to leave the room with that beautiful fireplace and roaring fire. Perfect comfort.

Thanks for sharing your day with us. Enjoyed all of your Advent videos. Can't wait for Christmas cake receipe as I'm not too keen on fruitcake!
