As ever, my friend, another great video from you. Thank you, CR! ♥ It's always, it's difficult to make "Top" lists as everyone has their own opinions. That said, while I may not have chosen the same actresses nor the same order, each one you've chosen is well deserved. I can recall, as a silly young boy, being in love with Myrna Loy after seeing her in so many movies that appeared on late night TV. But, for sure, Jean Arthur was also a heavy favourite. I've always thought Jean Arthur would have made an incredible Lois Lane. Over the years I've noticed a general correlation between the actresses with strong personalities as often being the same ones the male-dominated Hollywood labeled as "difficult". True, some could have been walking egos and horrible to work with, but in those times a woman had her place and that place rarely had her standing up for herself. I'm glad the world has become a bit more enlightened, though humanity has a long way to go. As a child of the 60s, I've seen so much social change over the years. Part of that has been the loss of TV broadcasting for classic movies in the evening and wee early hours of the mornings. Unless someone such as you or I pushes them, this generation of kids will never know the incredible world of film that came before them. They miss out on so much. Maybe this explains why so many movies today are heavy on action and appallingly light on story and substance. Thanks you again, my friend, for all the work you do to put these videos together. It definitely is difficult to make a top ten list so I tried to make sure it was based on what others have said. If it were my opinion, I’d have put Joan Fontaine in the top ten. I think she was wonderful! I definitely learnt a lot from making this video and really enjoyed discovering some powerhouse women who deserve to be remembered!

I certainly could do a Top-10 b as I initially had almost 50 names before cutting it down to ten! haha I'm finding a few great channels on UA-cam with similar content to mine so I try my best to share them on my community tab as I think viewers like yourself would enjoy them. Let me know if you'd like me to share more channels as I find them because it really is great to have a community of like-minded people.
@@cinemaretrospective 50 down to 10 is a near impossible task! It just displays the amount of work you do to create your videos. Like trying to pick my favourite band or song, I highly doubt I could narrow it down. Sharing other channels is a grand idea, but I would make sure the recommendations are reciprocated. That only seems fair.
Perhaps the classic Hollywood chatter is a bit different in the UK, but I am amusing at Barbara Stanwyck being called 'underrated'. Same for Mary Astor and Myrna Loy. To me they are top level performers shoulder to shoulder with Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. I'll check out your other videos next, but I feel Kay Francis doesn't get enough love.
Yes it is interesting to see if it differs from country to country. I’m in Australia so that may make a difference. I guess I’m also coming from the point of view of those who are remembered by “younger generations” or those outside of the group of classic film fans. Underrated definitely doesn’t mean bad, I think it just means they don’t get talked about as much as the ones who won a lot of Oscars and make it onto “The Best of…” lists. I can't see why all of these actresses should be underated - all ten are top level. Very much loved and admired.
Definitely all wonderful women and actresses but unfortunately don’t get talked about as much as some others.
