As someone with thick, corse, ethnic hair, I can DEFINITELY tell you that not all gels work on my hair. And that isn’t the faults of the brands that make the gel. Different hair types and textures need different gels or may not even be able to use gels in the first place.
I generally agree that different hair types benefit from varying gels, but I’m not sure who the people who can’t use gels at all would be. Healthy human hair (no matter the texture, thickness, etc) generally isn’t breakable enough that it can’t handle a simple gel 😂

Not all products work for all hair. Some products that work for Ashley won’t work for others and some that don’t work on her work on others. This is why you find products that work for you and not just use products just because your fave creator made them or uses them

Not really. What she did was "review" one product just to then uplift another "better" product. We don't do that when it comes to marketing and stuff. Even if Vickey wasn't sponsored by the other brand, it's still not okay. Have you ever seen an ad where the actor/actress started saying: (Name of the brand) is good, but (Another name of the brand) is better! No. You didn't. Because companies literally cannot do that and don't want that type of recognition. Obviously they use something like "Other products are good, but out products are on another level!". If I even remember correctly, it's against the commercial law to compare products in an ad and believe me, no self-respecting company would want this type of advertisement.

Yk what’s weird, I watched a video of a person with the same type of hair and what they did (they were conparjnf 2 different gels and did the same technique for each) was they would put gel in then part if going backwards towards the back of their neck and put more gel so they gel would get into their think hair like the person in this video because putting a lot in one area would never work

I thought that Ashley’s gel was really there so that you could purchase something cute and kitchy and a way to support Ashley. It’s obvious it’s a very light gel, at least I think so, designed to use weight from the moisture to hold hair down. I could be wrong. PEOPLE WHO INSIST A PRODUCT SHOULD WORK FOR THEM BECAUSE THEY HAVE A CERTAIN SKIN COLOR ARE FOOLING THEMSELVES. Here is your rule when it comes to hair product. If you have super porous hair, you’ll want a product with high moisture content, strong hold, and creamy distribution. If you have low porosity hair, you’ll want a product with a more oil consistency, lighter weight, and with gloss or shine complex. The curlier you are, the more porous your hair will be. Just because this white lady army bun gel did not work in your hair does not mean that the entire internet should be in a frenzy over racism. It literally just means that this product wasn’t designed with your hair in mind, because there is no one size fits all formula for hair product. It’s entirely variable on the user’s hair.

If I even remember correctly, it's against the commercial law to compare products in an ad and believe me, no self-respecting company would want this type of advertisement.
Ashley is like the opposite of Chef Pi, humble and super willing to acknowledge criticism.
There is no universal product/shade, one size fits all in skincare, haircare or makeup. If anybody tells you otherwise, they're lying. Also, all you need to do is walk in any drugstore to realize it. I do love Ashley's response here. Both when she posted the negative review and how she handled the aftermath of the 'drama'. It's amazing. Is this how rational and responsible adults act? Wow. 🤣🤣🤣

I've watched Vicky for years, and Vicky has never been a problematic person. She knows what she's doing and her youtube channel is based on her hair. I like both Vicky and Ashley, and I think they are both Beautiful Funny women, I just think the gel didn't work for Vicky. No hate, No drama, and not a bad formula. Everyone's hair is different, something that works for one might not work for the other. and it's not because it's trash, it's just because everyone's hair likes different things. Edit: I watched Vicky's Full UA-cam video, I think Vicky should of ended the video after trying Ashley's gel and left it at that. But she continued to finish her hair with another product I've seen her use before. I still don't think there was any shade, but it would have been better if she ended it there.

And I don't think she was use to the work you have to put in when slicking your natural hair with gel. In my experience you don't have to wet your hair, but you will have to work in section for better results.

It's her first drop and she was her own test subject so ofc it'll work for people with hair more like Ashley's than others . No reason to start hustle and bustle. keep in mind hair can be textured, damaged, bleached, over processed, colored, oily, dry, low porosity, high porosity, regular porosity and all of those are determining factors to how well a product takes and works for the individual, this person was honestly reviewing what it did for them but that might not be the case for you, it can work great on your hair but not for others

Yk what’s weird, I watched a video of a person with the same type of hair and what they did (they were conparjnf 2 different gels and did the same technique for each) was they would put gel in then part if going backwards towards the back of their neck and put more gel so they gel would get into their think hair like the person in this video because putting a lot in one area would never work

I thought that Ashley’s gel was really there so that you could purchase something cute and kitchy and a way to support Ashley. It’s obvious it’s a very light gel, at least I think so, designed to use weight from the moisture to hold hair down. I could be wrong. It is called combat gel and they are fighting so, it did still work 😂

If you're hair doesn't look like ashelys but you wanted to support her it's nice to have someone that looks like you say "oh sadly it dosnt work on my hair texture but here's a brand it dose." As a professional hair stylist who understands the chemistry behind why these products would and wouldn’t work in someone’s hair, I have to say this. PEOPLE WHO INSIST A PRODUCT SHOULD WORK FOR THEM BECAUSE THEY HAVE A CERTAIN SKIN COLOR ARE FOOLING THEMSELVES. Here is your rule when it comes to hair product. If you have super porous hair, you’ll want a product with high moisture content, strong hold, and creamy distribution. If you have low porosity hair, you’ll want a product with a more oil consistency, lighter weight, and with gloss or shine complex. The curlier you are, the more porous your hair will be. Just because this white lady army bun gel did not work in your hair does not mean that the entire internet should be in a frenzy over racism. It literally just means that this product wasn’t designed with your hair in mind, because there is no one size fits all formula for hair product. It’s entirely variable on the user’s hair.
