the knot is the best if you do it and apply it properly…and The Old Fox surely knows what he is talking about. We all owe a great deal to Mr Mors for is huge and serious contribution for joy and safety in tje wilderness: he is undoubtely the best. When looking for some issue, I allways try to find if Mors Korchansky has some video on it; if not (?) I try elsewhere…but take other opinions with some reserve. With Mors it is allways solid, reliable stuff you can depend on.Thank-you Grand Papa Mors!
Well, nice knot , but no one on this side of the lens can actually see how it was done. The woodsey scenery competes with the details you would like to show your audience.
Not to be rude, but it kinda looks like either Mors didn't want to change his movements to allow the camera to see, or the editor didn't want to show the knot being tied clearly. This could have been made incredibly clear, but it was made incredibly confusing, and it's quite simple knotwork.
I was taught the 'jam knot' as a child and have used it all my life (I'm 50) it and the common hitch are all you really need to get by. Thanks for showing a really important use for this 'wonder' knot great video
Stoney Lonsome there are several video,s on UA-cam : for example Canadian Jam Knot by fs2 Training. After I saw that it was easy to make the knot myself. Yes, a timber hitch, to start a lashing. Another way to go if you don,t have such a strong cord as 550 cord and you need more turns of rope to get the same strength.
This is a bit useless other than for simple cross lashing. How would you do this for a stretcher, A-frame or a corner with three sticks? You can't form the "magic" X on all corners then squire all the lashings before tying the other way across. Lot of what he says is good but there is a lot that is non-sense like a black pot requires half the fuel of a non black pot or that neck knife being more convenient - you have to use both hands to remove the knife while its a one hand job if it was o your belt. His preference for tall coffee pots for cooking only works well if you hang the pot from ther bale. Otherwise it is a poor way to transfer heat to the pot and makes it less stable than a wider pot.
This man is a world treasure. I'm happy to see his knowledge being preserved and passed down. Thank u for sharing. R.I.P. Mors💙
Thank you!
Canadian jam knots with a half hitch afterwards...nice job Mors. RIP.

He is a treasure indeed.
Wish you guys would redo this vid with an actual jam knot in the illustrations.
Very cool, Mors is legendary!
Thanks again Mors!
Thank you so much for sharing this technique. I love it.

1:22 No, Mors. You are, as always, correct. Encyclopedically so!

Nice how Mors shows the knot, but the illustrations show another not.
That doesn',t help a lot. Why is that ?

You can tell this dude is high IQ
Thanks!
top flight man
Simplicity is success. Great technique.
so he removed the inner strings to gain elasticity or what would be the reason. why he didn't just used the cord with it
ian vosik Think he said that it makes the knots stick better without the casing.
What's a strecher?
Fjellstorm Bushcraft litter carrier for wounded
Gurney in the states......a thing to carry injured people.

Hire an editor!
That's nothing more than the old Arbor Knot......used for tying fishing line to the arbor of the reel. Why the new name?
knots go by many names friend from two years ago
The arbor knot you mention is NOT the same as the Canadian jam knot... people have misnamed it the arbor knot because they don't understand it.
Much as I love, respect, and admire Mors... This is the worst demonstration ever.
