- Hello everyone, welcome to my guitar cover of Suffocation's track Liege of Inveracity. This album is so brutal from start to finish! And especially this song with that one riff in the middle of the song....
I hope you enjoy!

Finally i can understand what the hell is going on with the riffs. thanks dude, you did an excelent job.
Thanks man!
You mean , you were distracted by the shit-eating vocals ?
😂😂😂 i feel ya... and my old band and i have played with them more then 1nc... 😢
I use my ears to listen to the riffs
I still don’t understand how suffocation wrote these kind of riffs back in ‘91. I mean yeah there was brutal shit before them like Bolt Thrower’s early stuff and Carcass but nobody wrote riffs anything like this before this. Nailed the cover btw man 10/10
Weed I guess, Terrance a big stoner so I assume it helped.
@@EkTwRLoveGarlicbut that doesn’t explain how they got them so tight. If you’ve played in a death metal band you know how ridiculously difficult it is to be this rock solid. Suffocation has guitar playing and drumming that makes almost every other death metal band look like novices. They aren’t my favorite band but they invented slamming brutal death metal and technical death metal as far as I’m concerned and nobody in the scene are virtuosos like suffo!!!
@@dive-bombTrue that, I just play to guitar pro trying to learn some of their songs, I always plateau at 80% of speed on most, and even then I'm a lil sloppy as my wrist cant keep up to all the chugging and tremolo xD
This band helped significantly to create an entire Genre, I personally met Mike Smith and what they were doing at the Smith house hold in high school was of course inexplainable. They jammed there asses off, Smith undoubtably mastered the Blast beat and the bar was set high, without a drummer like Smith, these riffs would have never seen the light of day in this way.
Tribute to the best death metal song ever made. Congrats !!!!!!!
Thanks! Such a great song!
This song is basically the musical equivalent of a chef going full out and trying to make the 'ultimate meal' in one meal. Probably my top suffocation song.....and that says a lot....because they are all beyond amazing.
I agree, this is such an influential song for all the slam bands, and is just a masterpiece in general
This one is pure venom. You nailed that tone perfectly btw, nice job
Thanks man
So many badass riffs in one song, probably my favourite song of theirs, take some job remembering all this shit in the heat of the moment, very well played.
Riffs sound catchier with cleaner production here, great work dude
Thank you!
Suffo is not easy to play, great job dude
an irreproachable recovery. a very good sound and a certain clarity. being a lover of this album since 1994 ... congratulations.
Thanks! Love this album too
the record sounds all muffed, i can't understand what they're playing. on the contrary, this sounds clear
That’s Scott Burns production for you. Sounds like it was recorded in a beehive.
Trust me I thought that too initially but it can definitely be far worse, and on top of that the semi-raw production adds loads to the atmosphere and heaviness.
y'all are trippin the record sounds amazing
@@recruitdifficulty1638 as i get older, i start to hear more notes. Maybe it s a matter of destroying your hearing 😆 i dont Even go to concerts because it s always so loud i can t understand anything.. but that s clearly just me
also bc they’re in C standard which makes it hard to decipher notes
Fuckin solid dude. Back in the day, my next door neighbor one day was like, you gotta hear fuckin Suffocation. He came over and we listened to this whole album. It was probably 1992 or so. I joined a death metal band (buddies of his) the next year. It was an amazing time 🤘
This song is the invention of slam... And Suffocation did it a million times better than like 95% of all slam bands that ever existed, because they understood that reusing that same style of riff for 4 to 5 minutes straight, or even worse, the entire length of a full album more or less, would be completely braindead and uninteresting... Lol. Nice cover by the way.
If only Scott burns did breeding the spawn how roadrunner released that album the way it sounded was a travesty breeding was a perfect death metal album
Excelente calidad de musico!!!!! No cualquiera toca esto y asi de bien 👍
Thank you!
As much as I enjoy suffocation, it really annoys me how muddy the riffs actually sound on their studio releases from the 90s considering how amazing the riffs are especially when you can properly make them out like in this video
Awesome job! You’ve got a new sub. Great performance 👍😎
Thank you very much!
holy clean tone dude. if you don’t mind sharing, what were the presets or what software did you use?
Thanks! I think I remember using the LeGion amp sim (it's free) with the tse808 pedal, and then a Marshall 4x12 IR
@@mattyygmusic appreciate it man i’ll look into it.
Amazing!!! Extremely well played. Hail Suffocation.
Actually fucking amazing, sick video!:DD
Thanks!
Que modelo es tu guitarra?🩶
Ibanez RG7421
This was the song that introduced me to brutal deathmetal, and is still the ruler I measure everything by. By the way, you have 420 subs bro. 😅💨
The song that got me into extreme metal.
Perfect tone! How did you get it?
Just curious why the 7 string?
My 6 string had gauge 9s so wouldn't really be suitable in C standard, so I just used the 7 string
@@mattyygmusic gotcha, yeah 9s probably wouldn’t hold down in C too well
Yeah, nice pfp btw 🤘
@@mattyygmusic great DS album 👌
Pretty fun to watch/listen to! Is this an instrumental? I like the first half a bit more.
Ah interesting, I quite like the second half. It has vocals but I felt like it sounded better without them
@@mattyygmusic personal preference I guess! I clearly favour melodic and atmospheric. It certainly could be an instrumental, plenty of interesting riffs.
Awesome cover
there 5 guitars tracks layered over each other to get that sound both sides so thats 10 guitar tracks you hear on this album its a wonder you can even pick out the riffs to play them
Yeah, I love the raw production of the original record, but it can be hard to decipher some of the notes
¿Que afinación usás? ¡Excelente interpretación! Saludos desde Guatemala
I think it’s C standard
sick cover. but someone get this man some protein powder & dumbells
😂 I'm only 16
@@mattyygmusic mad respect dude
Amazing
awesome cover man, keep playing💪
Thanks man 🤘
Mind blowing! you got another subscriber bro
Thank you!
This is off chops
Thanks man!
Its too bad the production on the album is dogwater. I would've loved to be able to hear this clearly
Nice playing! I hope you don't take this as an insult, but there's a lot of inaccuracies in the riffs here. I'm guessing you used the main tab available online. I don't know what the author was hearing when he wrote it but it's way off. I'm posting a corrected version to ultimate guitar now if you're interested. Again your playing is great, I just wanted to point this out so people know this isn't how the song was originally written.
Mannnnn you should drop a version of the whole album with your guitars😂 sounds absolutely killer man🤙 sounds like Terrance live tone
Let's collaborate on a cover!!!!
Tuning for 6 string?
C standard
Your playing is tight as F***! Amazing!
Thank you!
Damn looks too hard for me idk very chaotic but looks very fun to play
Impresionante técnica, bravo!
A+ .. You rule man All thats missing is Frank Mullen.
I was really here for 03:01
how did you get that tone? been chasing that sound for a while!
Amazing Job!!!
Thanks!
awesome video and playing dude. Please can you tell me how did you get that tone? what softwares did you use?
Thanks man! I think I used the tse 808, LeGion amp, and I made a custom impulse response using Voxengo deconvolover (there are videos showing you how to do it). Afterwards just some eq to try and get it to sound like the record. Hope this helps!
@@mattyygmusic thanks man. Hey i leave a tip to you that i discovered recently, if youre interested. In Amplitube 4 theres a mesa boogie amp and a Terrance Hobbs (suffo) preset. Stay heavy \m/
@@mattyygmusic thanks man, I will check those plugins. Hey if youre intested , i recently discovers that on amplitube 4 theres a mesa boogie amp and Terrance Hobbs (suffo) presets for this amp. Stay heavy \m/
*Great being able to see how you played it. 🎥🏆 Awesome guitar cover! A lot if people don’t know how good these guys are. Suffocation is a good band but I still prefer Dying Fetus.*
Thanks! I'm a huge fan of dying fetus, I might cover some of their material soon
Great fucking tone ma dude!!! Killer cover, great playing and perfect mix of your dial and the song. May i ask, which gear do u you use?
Thanks so much man! If I remember correctly, I used a free amp sim called LeGion, and I coupled that with a custom impulse response I made to try and match the album tone!
@@mattyygmusic That's nasty, gotta try it myself!
Hell yeah! Here's a link to the impulse responses I made if you want to use them: drive.google.com/drive/folders/17lSAGCEBWZ-vFrrzVzgy5KSHSANEsKHN?usp=sharing
You may have to play around with EQ afterwards to get it to sound even better
@@mattyygmusic Sheeesh thanks for the link! I'll defenetly try it off and play with the EQ. Have a good day Matt!
No worries man, have a good day yourself! 🤘
Can we get some tabs?
Wauw! ❤️💪
Asik ❤
Dude that was killa!
Thank you!
What did you use for the tone?
clean as fuck
Thanks for that! Great job!
Settings?
freakin sick! great job
Thank you!
fire ass cover, what’d you use to get that tone so good!?!?
I think I made a custom impulse response to match the album tone, and I used the LeGion amp sim as the base
wow what a CHAD
Sick my brooo
Holy shit..
Looks challenging!
Challenging but fun!
SO GOOD
🤘🤘
Nice!
awesome cover
Thanks!
sick
great! what tuning?
Thanks! C standard
And this is how the Slam was born⚒⚒⚒
Indeed, such an influential song 🤘
Yeah, no. Uncle Slam was slamming in 1988 lol
Slam was around since the early 1980s at least. For crying out loud Suicidal Tendencies even had a song called “Surf And Slam” in 1988. What do you think they were referring to?
I’ll give a popular easy to find Death Metal slam that came out before Suffocation and was a huge influence on them....Napalm Death “Suffer The Children” 1990, Slam at 2:46.
@@fredsmith5925 It's unlikely that the Suicidal Tendencies song you named was referring to a literal slam/breakdown, since there is not a single slam in that song. Whatever, though
Well considering that Suicidal was known as a slam band back then, and that song was written to get people to slam dance, I would say yes, the word slam in the song is referencing slam dancing.

Thanks!
What tabs you use?
I think I used the ones on Songsterr
