I am actually trained in Pat testing, the reason why building electrical equipment on building sites are tested more often then let's say your kettle for example as it's in a high risk area, and is more likely to get damaged or the fuse gets replaced with a metal screw for instance if the fuse blows as that has been known to happen but it all depends on the risks etc, 12months is usually for class 1 earthed appliances and 2 years for your double insulated class 2 appliances, but you can choose to pat test less than 12months if you think it would be more safer, as an appliance you use might be OK to use today but might not be safe tomorrow or the next time for instance hence why it's always recommended to visually inspect all the cables and plugs. I have known about PIPA testing for years as I used to go on castles a lot as a kid. I once was at a kids birthday party and they had 3 castles when I went one one the blower suddenly went off , so I wen't round the back to take a look and by god the wires was not safe at all, I even said to myself and a few others if that was my business and castles I would not hire them out in the state they was in, plus it down poured so I made an executive decision to turn them all off, when the shower passed only one or 2 if I remember correctly out of the 3 only went up. we tried to see if we could get the others working without success. by looking at them they would have deffo failed a PIPA test.

Great video glad I’m stumbled upon it and also subscribed too for further info looking to start 2-3 castles but have done research too was wondering about the winter months.
Will consider 10x10 for small her venues and halls to accommodate

12 x 12s or a 10 x 10 is a good bet to begin with, the winter months you still get hires but obviously not as much.
Soft play is always a good bet in the winter as it will fit in most venues
The height restrictions on a venue can sometimes be an issue as most castles are around 10ft. Good luck!

A really useful guide! A few extra questions.
Can it be done alone or is it better with other people to help out?
And is a hired or bought van, better for transporting the equipment?
And if a customer steals or damages the equipment you hire out, does PLI cover it?
Or you need a separate insurance for the equipment?
How would you setup a website and/or advertise your business when starting out?
    Thanks

Some interesting follow up questions there i will try to do another video covering those questions
To answer briefly - two people are better than one - ( but it can be done alone)
you can get more equipment in a van - (A car is fine if you only have one or two castles)
you would need separate insurance cover for damage & theft
You can use one of the free website builders to get started also google and Instagram

You could try emailing some manufacturers with your specific design to see if they could help
