  • The relationship between BASE OF SUPPORT and stability of body is discussed in detail. What is BASE OF SUPPORT? How BASE OF SUPPORT contribute to stability? What are the factors that leads to instability and what are factors that lead to increased stabilty? The relationship between both the factors and methods in which alteration in BASE OF SUPPORT, CENTER OF MASS, LINE OF GRAVITY effect the stability is discussed in detail.

    I feel base of Support need not necessary to be beneath the person or object. Suppose I am hanging from a bar. Those contact points above me on the bar is my base of support in this scenario. The best way to explain BOS i feel is to explain it with balance which you did later on but we should not restrict BOS with beneath the person only, and where Balance is a person ability to control their body position relative to that base of support. be it beneath or above.

    • @TonysTutorial
      @TonysTutorial  3 роки тому +1

      biomechanics discussion or study should discuss the general patterns or positions of body rather than discussing any particular state or position. Human locomotion or posture do depends or mostly revolves around the scenario of feet on ground or in normal stance position. When that's the scenario BOS is beneath the body and not above it, but in Examples like the one u said( appreciate that apt example congrats) criteria can differ.For those special cases or situations we have to define it with the contest.Generalisation is always better than looking forward isolated situations and once a student get idea about what is BOS he can think himself and find out its change in situations like above. Buliding from basic concepts providing simplified version and make student think on it is my principle. Here you came up with good thinking...thats what last for ever...rather than we providing everything and even discussing the peculiar situations...
      good thoughts again
      BOS need not be below body but its below body in general scenario and in routine examples
      by the way definition of balance is admirable
      good luck

      @@TonysTutorial yeah you explained everything beautifully and this is how it is generally explained. i just put my views and i feel if we explain BOS with balance then it become more interesting and clear. but everyone has own way and style,,, thank you for sharing your inputs.. you are really passionate teacher..

    Where is centre of mass of mass and base of support when we are swimming

  • @syams5129
    @syams5129 2 роки тому

    There is small correction i think.The lower the centre of gravity (G) is, the more stable the object. The higher it is the more likely the object is to topple over if it is pushed which means less stable the object is.for example by your theory a doubleducker bus is more stable than a racing car is built .please check this sir...

  • @shailkumarjain
    @shailkumarjain 3 роки тому

    Kindly clarify on one point at 10.57 its said that when line of gravity falls outside the BOS, we need to balance and compensate by adjusting body by making BOS in line with gravity, i feel this is not necessary true in every scenario, let suppose we do a forward bend and our line of gravity is going outside BOS , so there is a clockwise torque pulling the upper extremity and trunk down and a possible way to be stable or remain balanced is to generate a counterclockwise torque on upper extremity and trunk, and that can be done with erector spinae muscles and gluteus maximus n hamstrings in this particular example.

    • @TonysTutorial
      @TonysTutorial  3 роки тому +1

      wow that's very true and great notion....but let me ask u what does that counterclockwise torque result in? why is that torque generated? is it not a startegy to achieve balance and stability?
      I believe yes...
      And recruitment of such large muscle force is it advantageous to human body?
      How long can that muscle work provide stability?
      nice thoughts I really loved it..kuddos
