never fails to remind me that the Galactica is a legendary battlestar. even though there were mercury class battlestars, galactica fought from the beggining until the very end until they found Earth.
just realized galactica had the same story as USS enterprise from WWII. The cylon attack represents the japanese attack on pearl harbor, they were caught off-guard. The japanese primary target were the aircraft carriers. Fortunately Enterprise wasn't there and so was her other sister ships. Galactica also wasnt there when the attack began. A few weeks time Enterprise led the comeback through the entire pacific campaign, striking a heavy blow to japanese forces until they were at Japan's doorstep. Galactica did the same, comeback after comeback until they reached the cylons doorstep. During enterprise's campaign her sister ships fell one by one from japanese forces until she was the only carrier available. still it did not stop her, 1 carrier against 4 other japanese carriers and she and her crew struck a heavy blow on them. soon after newly built carriers were commissioned and put to her fleet, these more advanced carriers carried more aircraft and firepower, advanced systems and weaponry (same as peggy right?) still Enterprise was the one who had more kills, and sturck a much more heavy blow to the enemy since enterprise has a tough nut well trained veteran crew. no matter how impossible the mission was, how overwhelming the enemy force can be they still came out on top. Sames as what Galactica did. She was the most revered and decorated ship of WWII. Both galactica and enterprises fate wasnt a happy ending at all. I'm sure we would all be happy if galactica wasnt sent out to the sun, but hey they wanted a new beginning. Enterprise at the end of the war was dismantled for scrap. they may be lost but their memories will live inside ppl.

What I like is how colonials are able to stand down-wind of a nuclear explosion....but sustain no burns or blindness from the flash, or shock-wave damage!
Whilst watching the miniseries I thought the Cylons had blown up the Colonies using the Colonials own weapons, kind of like what happened in Terminator 3. Seeing these shots of Battlestars and Vipers going into battle makes me wish there was some modern sci-fi movie/tv-series with a fully fledged space capable nation with carriers and fighters, like a sci-fi version of the navy.
There were a large enough number of Cylons who disapproved of the Genocide of man that they openly rebelled against Cavil. But this came to a head only when he wanted to lobotomize the Raiders who refused to continue to attack the fleet due to the final 5 being in the fleet. Cavil's faction only got the upper hand after he lured the rebel leaders and their basestars to an ambush outside of Ressurection range.
You make a good point. There are few good ones out there. There are few i like though they ain't enough to make up a faction, more like a small group of select few.
Yes i know. Though that makes no difference to me. If they had rebelled the moment Cavils faction decided to attack the 12 colonies now that would be another matter entirely.
i think the rotations help by focusing fire power in to one point like that strait pointy rotation directs fire power to the front and the other spider like one spreads fire power
I think not AL of the battlestars were deactivated but a LOT of them were. So perhaps a harder fought battle. Remember they ere stalemated in the first war

Would have been a fair fight, each had their own war machines. But in order to win, one side had to tip the scales in their favour, in this case the cylons did that.
bhstone1 In the battle for the Resurrection Hub there were 5 baseships, the Resurrection Hub and 2 battlestars. The battlestars wiped out the Cylon fleet to the ship. In the battle over New Caprica there were 4 baseships and 2 battlestars that didn't coordinate their efforts. 1 battlestar survived and the Cylon fleet was wiped out to the ship. In the battle for the Colony there was the entire fraking Cylon civilization and 1 battlestar (partially crewed by pro-Human Cylons). The Cylons became extinct except for the rebels and the battlestar survived. So now lets imagine the whole Colonial fleet (not just battlestars) was up and running...
Because the humans made the Cylons to be their slaves, and the Cylons resented them for that. The reason that they want ALL humans dead, on the other hand, is much more complicated, and involves the motivations of Cylon Model Number One.

After the 1°war, the German was obligated to pay for the damages of the war, maybe it was justified, maybe not, but they fell like it was too much, and that they shouldn't have surrender. Then a "charismatic" figure (Hitler/Calvin)took over and provoked another war. Most Cylon followed Calvin because of their hatred towards humans and because Calvin hide information frm them. Or something like that.

I remember that, it was a bit shocking to see it. But, then again the humans turned on each other as well (Gaeta's Coup for example).

So...what's the real use of the basestar rotation? They used it a single time...
The basestar's post rotation shape looks aerodynamic, so they probably have a in-atmosphere mode and a vacuum mode and they rotate to switch
