    Where do the fish spend the night?

    • @JorgeMacedo
      @JorgeMacedo  3 роки тому

      Tangs under the rock work, most wrasses buried in the sand, Butterfly and Angel just above the coral, Hawkfish, Triggerfish, birdwrasse and cleaner wrasses in the coral branches, anemonefish with their favorite coral host.

    🤩 I only just discovered your tank, so beautiful!!
    Just started a similar size tank and I’m really looking forward to it maturing.
    How’s your Picasso Trigger doing in there? Or should I say, how do your corals feel about him staying there?
    I saw you had a Sohal before but I can’t see him on this video. Did he outgrow the tank or pass away or what?
    Beautiful tank! Beautiful coral! Beautiful fish!!👏🏻

      Thank you for the kind words. This Picasso trigger has been in my tank for the past three years, sleeps in the branches of the big green Aspera acropora he literally carves a hole in the coral to make his home comfortable or perhaps to have a escape route in case of an attack by a nocturnal predator... anyway, the colony is so big that does not bother me. The trigger does not touch anything else and has been a role model so far. (knocking on wood here).
      The Sohal got bigger and more aggressive and I gave him to a friend. It is a beautiful fish but it had to go :(

    Hard to decide what to look at, your fish or your coral. That’s why I watch your videos and few times. What kind of Tang is the yellow with the orange stripe. Never seen such a beauty. At some point share a list of your life stock.

      That´s an Orange Shoulder Tang (Acanthurus olivaceus). IMHO this is one of the most peaceful tangs one can get. It is late here in Bangkok but tomorrow I will add a list of my fishes to the description. Thank you so much for watching and commenting.

    Excellent Tank! Subbed. Do you know your PAR numbers at the tops of the corals and on the sandbed?

    • @JorgeMacedo
      @JorgeMacedo  3 роки тому +1

      I remember measuring par a few years ago with a Seneye device using almost the same light setup, at the time I was using 8 Hydra52 non HD, since then I added another one and replaced 4 of them with 2 Hydra52 HD and 2 Hydra64.if I recall correctly the top quarter of the tank was measuring from 450 to 650 and the bottom about 200. This is an old school tank, very low nutrients and more white light than reefers nowadays use 😉
      Thank you so much for the kind comments and sub!👍

      @@JorgeMacedo I'm old school too. I like my tanks more white as well. You truly create a work of art. Will be following along. I'm fixing to start a 105/G, BB (White King Starboard), All SPS, CaRx, Radion G5's. I'm hoping this is gonna be "The One." ;-) Do you run a reactor or dose 2-part? Any trace element dosing? Thanks so much!

      @@Reefahholic Thank you so much. I used to have a Calcium reactor on my old 150gal tank but It was having a hard time to cope with sps demand and hard to keep Alk stable, I would need a much bigger reactor. I decided to go with the Balling method from Fauna Marin. If I had the space I would go back with a much bigger Calcium reactor as it is way cheaper than Balling. The Balling from Fauna Marin always use 3 more bottles of trace elements. Usually I don't dose extra trace elements unless I notice some colour lacking and then use the Red, Green or Blue trace elements from FM, I don´t dose aminos as I feed fish real foods and I dose Potassium 7ml/day as I do Carbon dosing and UV (bacteria uses potassium and UV kills bacteria that ends in the skimmer cup carrying Potassium+Po4+NO3).
      10% weekly water changes, help relenishing some minor trace elements IMHO.

      @@JorgeMacedo Very nice! Definitely working for you. Sorry I didn’t watch your other video first. Had no idea you did an overview of the tank. Thank you much for answering my questions. It’s definitely a delicate dance with SPS and you have conquered it. :-) Enjoying your videos. Very similar to “A Reef in the Sky.” 💯✅😉

      @@Reefahholic Thanks man! I remember that "A Reef in the sky" tank, a gorgeous sps tank based on the Zeovit method if I am not mistaken. I do have to stop of being afraid of my broken English and start talking on my videos, though. ;)
