You missed one important thing. Hannibal never got Rome. He didn't have enough men to properly siege the city. Instead just sacked Italia and won the battle of canae. 60k Roman casualties. Afterwards just kept losing until definitive defeat at Zama by a Scipio
@@ryanmann9842 True, but a large reason for Hannibal's defeat was he had no support from Carthage. The bulk of his forces were made up of local Ghalic tribes who had been oppressed by Rome already, and still he managed to do that much damage. It wasn't till the end of his campaign that the Carthagean leaders decided to support him, but by then Rome had finally started taking the threat of Hannibal seriously, and had organized a large enough force with a competent leader to actually oppose him.
@@TheDeinonychus yeah. The format of the joke was no utilized effectively. Maybe it should've mention the alps. Rome: Carthage can't hit us (dominating both sea and land during second punic) Hannibal: "hold my wine" You're right about Hannibal not getting support because the leadership of the empire feared the wrath of Rome after losing thr first time. Furthermore, they no long dominated the sea (Roman's suck at navy but unironically invented the corvus, boarding bridges and proceed to slaughter crews). So when Hannibal proceeded to sack Italia the nobles/leadership realized, "OH sh*t! He's actually doing it." Hannibal basically did a 1 v nation with an army comprised of loyal retinue and elephant (pre-alps) from Spain he marched to Rome on land and started to recruit or encourage Guallic/Gaelic forces into joining (especially post-alps). Massalia noticed that a huge army is matching towards them. Rome scoff saying they can't pass the alps. Massalia gets hit, and enemy passes through Alps. That is when the Celtics actually joined him because northern Italy was dominated by this group and wanted freedom. And then the rest of my previous comment.

One thing that is always left out of these videos is the fact that we have never officially banned privateers, Congress still holds the power to issue letters of marque at any point it deems it necessary. While this might not seem like a big deal. It should be noted in two separate wars (the American revolution and the war of 1812) American privateers actually proved more effective in disrupting British naval and trade movements than the U.S. navy ever did.

You should do a video on the port system they built during WWII. They called them Mulberry Harbors. It's insanely impressive what they accomplished and without it the war wouldn't have been won. Being invaded would be hilarious since I'm not even legally allowed to own guns in my state, BUT I have enough chemistry knowledge to make tannerite. And I imagine a lot of us are the same.
Don't worry Luke, I loved the remake too. Ignore the haters! Also, if you enjoyed Red Dawn (2012), you should play Homefront and Homefront the Revolution sometime on the channel! Homefront was loosely tied into the Red Dawn remake although I believe they scrapped that idea. Homefront deals with a North Korean invasion of the US with you fighting as guerilla fighters. Homefront actually predicted Kim Jong-Il's death. Its sequel Homefront the Revolution is more of a reboot and alternate timeline where North Korea experienced an economic boom following the Korean War. The original movie also had a tie-in book titled Homefront: The Voice of Freedom and is an excellent read.
Whats funny is that the original video didn't even mention Hawaii. China would have to get their ships past the fleet at Pearl Harbor and.. well... this isn't the 40's anymore xD

Also America is really only safe from foreign threats, it's kind of fucked when it comes to domestic threats since they're already here. The biggest threat to America right now is America itself.
You're right about the 60s, the Vietnam war was a proxy war for the cold war (ie it was US vs commies intervening on either side). The 80s are most likely when films started coming out about it because that's when cinema blew up (thanks star wars), and people tend to be interested in war films after the war has ended, probably why there's very few Iraq/Afghanistan films.
Even then with wars on our mainland, we had a submarine in the revolutionary war, "super frigates" in the 17/1800s and in the civil war we had steam powered ironclads so heck
Even if, hypothetically, an enemy military could get a foothold on mainland US and defeat the US military, they'd never be able to actually hold the country. There was reportedly a debate among Japanese generals during WW2 about the possibility of a large-scale invasion of the US mainland. They decided that even if it was possible to make landfall, there would be a rifle hiding being every bush waiting for them. Militias and an armed population would make any occupation of the US so costly it just wouldn't be worth the attempt. Of course, that's not to say things haven't changed since then, what with certain group wanting to restrict gun ownership more and more, but you still have a very large portion of the population armed in the US. Not even taking into account an armed police force who could be drafted into a defense as well.

@@kokomo9764 You go into war the same way you come out. War isn't for everyone. I wish people like you would second guess it before you get PTSD. It is sad, but you shouldn't have gone. Tonnes of people are fine with it. Some aren't and it is understandable.
@@Asynurr It literally shows how you know nothing about combat and how you never been there. No man comes out the same from a war, and you never know what's gonna happen until it has already happened. "War isn't for everyone" so is there a written list on who can participate in a war and who can't? "Tons of people are fine with it" because it's their duty to defend your homeland? No one ever knows if they're going to come out unscathed or with disabilities. I hope you understand what I mean.
I will not respond to further hostile messages as not create an unnecessary argument. My message above is towards yours and I did not mean to be hostile or rude, I just got angry at your text above to be honest.
"ONLY five major American military bases are near [Seattle/Tacoma]" -- LOL, *only*
That’s a lot. Plus those bases are huge, especially JBLM
Yea as if Bremerton and Everett are inconsequential
The US wouldn't bring all its forces home if it were invaded. It would bring some home but majority wouldn't come home. They would use their forces over seas to counter attack. The reserves would support the National Guard in defending the homeland.
Plus Coast Guard and all of our at-home military bases.
Not to mention most Americans are strapped to the teeth.
Also gangs "could" also assist in the fight.
I'm not sure about the gangs though
Texans would just say hold my beer texas civilians are their own military
Throw Kentucky in too. We're the ones that settled Texas!
Unorganized Militia Go Brrrrrrrrrr!
I would say the South in general.
us texans like our beer cold our guns stocked locked and loaded and big boobs and if your like me some good ol homemade soul food
Let’s be honest, we will tear ourselves apart before any other nation could.
Truer words have never been spoken.
Unfortunately I can’t disagree with that. Sometimes I wish a foreign power can threaten to invade to create a clear enemy. This way we stop looking at each other as enemies and look towards someone else.
True. America is more divided than due to politics and I fear that many Americans would rather watch their fellow Americans die if they found out which political party they support if an invasion were to happen.
@@Wendys___ sometimes humans run off of chaos.
They also didn't take into account about how many civilians would also try to protect their homeland.
Ye the moment an invader sets foot on american soil the number of enemy combatants would go from a few million to whatever the total population of the US is
There would literally be traffic going towards the landing 😂 people would be walking around selling guns and ammo
Theyd hear the sound of Skynard playing and the rumble of LS engines coming towards them before they could step foot off the boat. The United States has enough licensed hunters to make make up the largest standing army in the world. Most of which are fairly good marksman. I've seen what the ol 7mm magnum does to a whitail at 3-400 yards it isn't pretty. It's gonna wreck the human body.
I can imagine invaders going into a gangs territory and just getting shot up.
"What happens . . . Russian tunnel . . . " Something like this happened during the American Civil War. A tunnel was dug and used to force a new flank. The response was to toss some TNT into the hole and blow it up before all the forces made it through. I expect this would be the same story.
Except now instead of tnt its with missiles
Russians pop up in Alaska.... Alaskans think they're trying to steal their gold claims and news headlines 20 years later....
Mass Graves of Russian soldiers found across the majority of Alaska and the natives deny any knowledge of their existence.
@@MrSkylerh Alaska's basically Siberia. Even 90%+ of Russians don't go to Siberia. It would be an absolute nightmare getting through Alaska even without the Alaskans shooting you.
A tunnel is a self dug grave and bottle neck.
You could easily find the tunnel path under the channel with ground penetrating radar and bust up the tunnel under the sea and flood it.
Interesting aside, the first military submarine was developed and used by the south in the Civil War. It sunk due to mechanical failure but only after badly damaging one union warship and scaring the rest of the ships out of the harbor.
That video forgot to mention the American citizen 😉. The American citizens are another army all on their own 🔥
Second amendment, god bless us all
"You cannot invade mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass." - Admiral Yamamoto (The man who planned Pearl Harbor)
Alaska, one of the most seismically active regions in the world, has tons of seismographs. They anomalies detected by the graphs would tell authorities there is a tunnel being dug before it broke ground.
Yes a reaction to the old Red Dawn would be a great video. Totally do it!
"its like saying you want to invade Rome at the Hight of their power, its practically impossible!"
Hannibal: HOLD MY WINE!
Rome: Carthage can't hit us (dominating both sea and land during second punic)
Hannibal: "hold my wine"
You're right about Hannibal not getting support because the leadership of the empire feared the wrath of Rome after losing thr first time. Furthermore, they no long dominated the sea (Roman's suck at navy but unironically invented the corvus, boarding bridges and proceed to slaughter crews). So when Hannibal proceeded to sack Italia the nobles/leadership realized, "OH sh*t! He's actually doing it."
Hannibal basically did a 1 v nation with an army comprised of loyal retinue and elephant (pre-alps) from Spain he marched to Rome on land and started to recruit or encourage Guallic/Gaelic forces into joining (especially post-alps).
Rome during the Carthaginian Wars was not at their height. Would happen centuries later under Trajan. Which is more a testament to the longevity of the Roman Republic and Empire than my historical nerdism.
@@mikhailiagacesa3406 nice man. Would agree during the Roman Empire their height was during the rule of the 5 just emperors.
High Roman Republic is somewhat hard to determine because of how influential the punic wars were. It established the Marian reforms and gave rise to Strong men. So I'll just throw a dart and say the first triumvirate was republics height
Saw a phil robertson video where he was explaining about how during deer season only 4 of our states would be able to make the largest army in the world with how many hunters went out
And that was only 4 we have alot more than only 4 "hunting" states so I'd say we could hold our ground pretty solidly

The environment alone would be incredibly difficult to take, especially if small units of independent militias decided to disappear into the wilderness and fight back.
Bro, that remake is like 2016 ghost busters bad..
I cannot stop watching these videos you make! I’ve watched at least 6-7 in the last couple days! Awesome content
The UK, in a way also tries to project global power using its navy but not in the same amount as our American brothers primarily because of the smaller military
You caught me by total surprise when you said you were going to refit a bus and travel around! Keep making videos your content is amazing!
My reaction was the the same with the "only 5 bases"
As someone who lives near West Virginia, that's where I'd be. Those mountains and their roads are insanely confusing if you don't know them, and should the enemy try using the roads, most are setup that you should rain hell down on them from the hillside.
Love your videos man, keep it up 👊
*Me…. A normal civilian, looking at my collection of ammo/guns, plate carrier, and buckets of spent range brass* chuckles…
Absolutely agree. Noone wants a nuclear war, everyone knows there can only be losers in one. Also, thanks a lot for your videos, you react to cool and interesting stuff, I will start having a look at your second channel too!
You should do a video on the port system they built during WWII. They called them Mulberry Harbors. It's insanely impressive what they accomplished and without it the war wouldn't have been won. It once got hit by a crazy bad storm that basically destroyed it and it crippled the supply line to a stop for a good amount of time. You'd really enjoy learning about it.
Him: People under-estimate what would happen if there was a giant cyberattack on the US
Me: *glares at Colonial Pipeline,* Not Anymore!
LMAO if that reaction about the red dawn remake wasn't pre-scripted then that was fucking hilarious XDDDDD 2 seconds later, we shall not speak of the remake looooooooooool
Been watching since beggining, love to all your family and you man 🔥🔥🔥
I heard that after D-Day, moustache man was so determined that he had made the right decision to place his forces at the incorrect beach, that he kept his forces there to try and prove that he wasn't wrong, but, of course, nobody actually invaded the beach.
and his commanders actually begged for him to move his troops i think, it was just the determination of their leader that made the landings as effective as they were
All true sir. The man was an idiot.
I just say that the US let them come in we gun owners can defend ours it’s been our dream since red dawn
Being invaded would be hilarious since I'm not even legally allowed to own guns in my state, BUT I have enough chemistry knowledge to make tannerite. And I imagine a lot of us are the same.
Us- has a ton of military equipment and naval equipment
US- Nah fam I need more
Don't worry Luke, I loved the remake too.
9:30 what happens? Now they get to travel through many thousands of miles of dense forests
US still have some left over napalm... basically making forests not a problem
Whats funny is that the original video didn't even mention Hawaii. China would have to get their ships past the fleet at Pearl Harbor and.. well... this isn't the 40's anymore xD
Video: "The sad thing is despite all the training, a war never happened."
That's a sad thing...how? It's better to know how to fight and never need to, than need to and not know how.
Well I'm really hoping that we would see them more than a mile away lol
Even then with wars on our mainland, we had a submarine in the revolutionary war, "super frigates" in the 17/1800s and in the civil war we had steam powered ironclads so heck
Honestly the Ironclands were much more successful or rather effective than the submarines at both those times
Also , in part, the plot of the 2007 PC game "World in Conflict"
Oh boy he should really play that game
Absolutely!! Its a great game
Almost every household has at least one gun
Russia: THE ONE WITH THE RIFLE SHOOTS!
America: you want another gun dude I have far too many right now
Too many? Such a thing does not exist, only not enough space for the lovelies haha
Apon finding an invasion is eminent the American citizens would provide a protection force of millions of volunteers
You should react to "McNamara's Morons" from the vietnam war. It was kinda messed up.
Everybody always underestimates the American citizen, dude, we will rob a burger joint armed with an alligator.
LMAO 🤣🤣🤣
World in conflict is a fantastic game

We in America don't speak of the remake
Damn UA-cam forgot to put the k after your like number
Hi there mate. Really enjoying your content, but it seems you are really interested in cold War, you should watch oversimplified cold War . Its so good . And yes from 1949 to 1989 the US had big fear from USSR. So PLEASE watch oversimplified COLD WAR. Okay bye now
" Or they could be using South America...well out of range of most American bombers."
Except the B-52 Stratofortress which could do the whole trip without refueling from their home base in the US. True, we don't have that many now, less than 100. But do you know what 100 of those can do? And go back again the next day, and the next....
The B-2 is long range as well.
@@denisegroce7135
True. I've read that the B-52s (the older of the two aircraft) could take off from it's base in the US, fly to the middle east, deliver it's load and fly back without landing. (or refueling?) Whatever the fact - the B-52 has extreme range. It makes sense they would try to make the B-2 which was supposed to replace it perform as well.

Just to give you understanding of armed civil population there are more than 393 million civilian-owned firearms in the United States, or enough for every man, woman and child to own one and still have 67 million guns left over. The USA would have worlds largest Civil militia with millions of former military personnel in these militia to augment US Miltary Ground forces Army and Marine Corp. It would be most heavily armed civil militia in history including assault rife, hunting rifles, shotguns and hand even 50 cal. Weapons Bring on LOL.
And guess who's trying to take all that away

100% this
Not everyone was worried (afraid) of an invasion by Russian troops in the 80’s. As for guns and the reason there are so many, they are part of the foundation that is our freedom. Is is also said that Admiral Yamamoto suggested to not invade the U.S. mainland because, “there is a gun behind every blade of grass”.
Hi Luke I would really like you to react to (the star spangled banner like you’ve never heard it before). It explains the lyrics of our National anthem.
The person narrating the infographics show would be a great military leader from all his research on wars and other military related videos like this
As a caveat to the idea of nuclear war is also the use of a nuke as an EMP. A few set off strategically could put the US back into the 1800s.
you are correct, However that still would not stop the 393 million guns in the hands of private citizens.
@@falkwulf3842 The guns will just end up being used on other Americans, an EMP attack wouldn't even need a followup invasion to completely destroy the US as it is today. Food scarcity, and a lack of clean water would do the rest. Tens of millions would die.
@@GhostEye31 In the cities it would be BAD. However you forget that there are literally MILLIONS of Americans who dont live in the cities. In FLYOVER country people still have the skills to be self sufficient. Farming, Hunting, Fishing. People out in flyover country still have the skills that city dwellers forgot about. Sure the lights would go out, for a short while. Within 3 years the US would be back up and running like normal again. Coal, and Oil fired powerplants would spring back to life within the first year. What you call the 1800's in reality would be more like the 1940's when most things in the US were NOT interconnected.
Fun fact about the remake. The guy that was hit by the truck driven by Chris, the stunt double was supposed to be hit in the front but missed and hit the side of the vehicle. They kept the mistake take.
Will wouldn’t Russia be safe from America too because they have to cross a huge ocean or go into Siberia? and Russia is known to fight good in snow and cold weather.
Crazy how he said cyberattacks are the biggest thing and rn with this gas crisis
Funny enough, it was the US's geography that was a huge reason why the original colonists were able to fend off Britain's military. The colonists were fighting on home soil and constantly on the move while in some cases the British had to sail all the way back to Britain to get orders on how to retaliate against them, which would take entire months.
You're awesome man!!! Keep up the good work and have a great day broskee!!
