This is SO helpful!! I am on day three of learning how to skate and I can transition and do of all of day 1 and 2! I am quite impressed with myself and grateful for your help
Im still a beginner (start of year 3 began in November 2023, & i'm still struggling with transitions. It's like i have a mental block or something. Because i have a solid forward stride & logically my mind knws each foot is capable of taking my weight no matter what. It's like th act of turning around just scares th absolute H3LL outta me. All i can manage is to turn & stop (because i can't/won't commit my bodyweight fully to th skate i wanna transfer to). Im going to try this th nxt time im @ my tennis rink & drill it over & over. Thanks for sharing Lindsey & your indoor skate space is beautiful. Also are those orchids i see? ❤
I'll have to do a little follow-along the next time I skate so I can try this! Anybody have any tips for transitions (forwards to backwards) at higher speeds? I'm excited to do some street skating this summer but want to make sure I've really dialed in my stopping at high speed skills (i.e. transition to backwards and stopping on my toe stops) 😅 Great video, Lindsey!
Yayy! So glad you enjoyed it! Let me know how it goes! These are more slow to medium speed transitions made to look good, maybe the standard open the door would be faster at higher speeds, let me know what you find!🙌🛼🫶
its the side surf position I just cant open to, so all my transitions are wonky. I've done all the stretches in the world - I must be the only person who's hips just don't open enough.
hey! i just got my skates! but i have a question, unliked sliding like i see many people do mine are kinda choppy? like i’m just shuffling lol do you have any tips on that
Hey! I’m so excited for you getting your new skates! If you mean you aren’t sliding very well, try taking it super slow and remember that when you are rotating you need to be on either the front two or back two wheels. It could also be way my choppy if you are on rocky cement. Being on wood or smooth cement, makes a huge difference. Wood floors are perfect for skating! hope that helps!
Because i skate in streets, i decided for inline skates. I regret this decision. Quads seem much easier since you don't fall for the sides if you are in one foot and seem to be lighter. Plus you can use proper wheels for street. Everyone beginner seems to learn quickly in quads.
As a beginner in both, for me one big difference is that, like you said, on inlines I risk falling to my sides, whereas with quads it’s easy to tip forwards or backwards! I hope you can get quads soon and I also hope you end up loving inline skates in the mean time :)
I drove to Jacksonville (Florida) With a car filled with all my possessions I had to leave Knew they wouldn't understand When you know, you know When you know, you know It's time, it's time to go When you know, you know Then the more you know It's time to go I took a trip down South Just a pair of roller-skates on my feet Then I went to see some friends of mine Down in Austin, Texas When you know, you know When you know, you know It's time, it's time to go When you know, you know That it's time to leave Like the summer breeze When everyones' star's bright Brighter than you are It's time to go And you're the only one left Skating while they're inside from the cold Time to go I drove back home It seemed everything the same (West Virginia,) Except that you aren't home Hello, I call to know why, but When you're home, you're home (West Virginia) When you're home, you're home (West Virginia) When you're home, when you're alone When you're right, you're right When you're right, you're right Even when you're wrong
What helps me also is putting weight on to the base side then looking the way you're turning starting with the shoulder down to torso and then pelvis.
Thank you! I love those tips! pinning this so others can see it 🙌🫶
I like how many things in your house are on wheels.
Hahahaha omg I never noticed!! Even I am on wheels!!!😅😅🤣🤣🤣🤣

My favorite Transition tutorial video by far
Hey! Can’t seem to find your video on how to do manuals. This is so helpful! Thank you!
I admire so much the way you explain! Always so articulate and easy to understand, thanks for the tutorial ✨
You just made my day! I’m so glad you are finding the tutorials helpful!!! 🥰🫶
I love the repeats, it helps me memorize the move

I struggle more with turning back around. Do you have a video for that?
I struggle with open book transitions going forward to backward. It feels awkward af.

is this transition how you’d do the like “rotate into the toe stop power slide to a stop” technique?

Same. I think we just need to keep practicing.
My are the same :/
I still don't have heels or toe confidence..need to work on that first😬
❤❤❤
Do the moxi skates run big? Do you size down?
The sizing on moxis is so weird. There’s a size chart I used and I think I measured my foot for it too
@@lindseyskates thank you!

@@lindseyskates oh okay!
I don’t know what’s wrong with me but when I try bubbles I don’t go anywhere.
Try bending your knees more and really pushing out with your feet and outer thighs, then pulling in with your inner thighs🙌
Also making sure you are on a smooth surface that isn’t rocky
They kinda look like crossover pulls
Ok totally, I could see that🙌

I drove to Jacksonville (Florida)

Knew they wouldn't understand
When you know, you know

Just a pair of roller-skates on my feet

Down in Austin, Texas
When you know, you know
When you know, you know
It's time, it's time to go
When you know, you know
That it's time to leave
Like the summer breeze
When everyones' star's bright
Brighter than you are
It's time to go
And you're the only one left
Skating while they're inside from the cold
Time to go
I drove back home
It seemed everything the same (West Virginia,)
Except that you aren't home
Hello, I call to know why, but
When you're home, you're home (West Virginia)
When you're home, you're home (West Virginia)
When you're home, when you're alone
When you're right, you're right
When you're right, you're right
Even when you're wrong
Wow! I love that! My journey! I want to frame it and put it up in my house! Thank you so much for writing that Sebastian!! 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
