omg thank you!!! Every guide i've seen for the pivot transition, they say "you just pivot like this" but don't actually break down how you shift your weight or anything. Can't wait to practice this!
You definitely deserve a lot more views! Honestly, it's probably easy to teach someone to do something, but you actually break it down so well so that those who aren't even at the stage of being able to attempt the move, can BUILD up to getting to where they want to be. I just watched 3-4 of your videos for things that I'm working on currently and OMYGOSH, you explain the drills and the baby steps so well I can't thank you enough!!! Love your videos!! Thanks a lot for doing this!!!
i just broke my wrist trying to learn how to transition (may or may not have been bending my knees) but watching all your videos has helped me visualize what to do when i can skate again! going to practice out of skate all these techniques ♡
i’m just here to say i also broke my wrist skating( i was backwards and a rock caught me off guard) and i love watching these videos over and over just so i don’t skate in a cast 😂
This was SO SO helpful, thank you! Practicing out of skates was a game changer and helped me get used to the motions without the scariness of being on 8 wheels! I’ve tried to learn transitions a few times now but after watching this video I can do it! Will definitely come back for more tutorials ☺️

Thank you so much for this video!! I’ve gotten really good at forward and backward skating, but have been stumped on transitions for weeks now. This vid made something in my brain click!!
Yes!!!! I so needed the break down like this!! I can do the step one (terribly and it grinds me to a hault) keen to try these others!! Thank you so much!!
Loved this video! I have been hesitating to practice these because they make me feel very unstable, but now I understand how to build up to them more gradually and with more control. Thank you!
Practicing without skates on is a brilliant idea! I'm still practicing in my socks and when I get a bit better I'll try it on skates. You're the best UA-cam skating coach, hands down. Thanks so much for doing this, you're awesome! ❤️❤️❤️
So I’ve mastered the step transition in my socks, which is progress, but I can’t do it on my skates yet. I’m having real problems with the swivel. I tried with one leg in front of the other and my feet about six inches apart in width. My legs kept getting crossed so I tried it a bunch of times with one foot directly in front of the other and I’d lose my balance. I was wondering if you have any suggestions... Thanks🖤🖤🖤
@@heatherprice8734 It's so hard to coach this, I cant see what your doing, so it's hard. you can get tangled up if your not skating fast enough. make sure you do the full movement and your upper body is moving with you.
Thank you! This is the most helpful video I've ever seen about how to make a transition on roller skates, I think that doing the exercises first with your feet on the floor is sooo helpful, I think with your help I'll finally can do it! Thanks a lot and definitely you have my subscription to your channel!

I was able to pick it up tho and do some tiny pivots today just to get the ball rolling💪🏻✨ tip from another beginner for anyone else: just commit and accept you will fail while practicing 😂 the sooner you fully commit to a move the sooner you'll pick it up!!💕
my coach forces me to 180 transition of frontwheels from forward to back. and i just did not get how to start with this, you just helped me, i'll start tomorrow with practice. i dont do derby, but find the exersizes very usefull!
Notes: knees bent and hips dropped. pivot transition: Turn your body and swing your hips and simultaneously go on balls of your feet and swivel into the direction of your back foot. Knees are hip width apart. Step transition: move your back foot first and then other one.

Because of this I learned to transition before my wife did and she is not happy about it. lol I'm also quickly wearing out my crappy toe stops because sliding into a stop backwards on them is about the coolest thing I know how to do. I love this. My teammate/instructor is really drilling in the look back and turn method. Naturally I am sort of turning and pivoting around 1 foot in a heel up, front wheel down position. It worries me because when I don't make the flip fully it drags my wheels. Then looking backward is really disorienting for me right now. I am going to try the heels up on both skate pivot transition tomorrow. That seems to be one that may come a little more naturally to me.
