I really like that your jjk reactions are coming from the angle of having someone up to date on the manga as well as first timers to the series. In my opinion it creates an interesting dymanic in the reactions where Tev knows the big plot points that are coming and seeing him try to hold in reactions while Dee and Red are trying to figure out whats going on. It also creates an interesting dynamic with the discussions again having that angle of bouncing ideas off of each other when one person knows the source material. Its cool and I havent seen many reactions for the show that has your spin on it. Looking forward to the rest.

The proper mythological creature it's based upon is one of the Twelve Divine Generals: Makora. As for the Malevolent Kitchen, that was also a mistranslation in the same chapter. The "zu" kanji means Kitchen. The Japanese name for Malevolent Shrine is "Fukuma Mizushi"; Mizushi-dokoro was a word used to describe an Imperial Palace kitchen back in the old days.

Yeah jjk has some deep things going in in its battles and the layers that the author has chosen to go about his world and techniques so in a few occasions like this where theyre dropping so much information mid battle it can be hard to grasp it all entirely on the first watch especially when youre trying to admire the beautiful animation as well haha. To keep the explanation short, in an older version of Japanese, his Domain Expansion can be translated to essentially "Malevolent Kitchen" (The full translation being "A place where the emperors food is prepared"). It can also translate to "Shrine" (the full being "A place where Buddha is enshrined"). In essence, it can be translated into multiple ways and be accurate, so both versions are likely accurate. Also, it's long been theorized that Sukuna's cursed technique is cooking based, which explains why his powers revolve around slicing, dicing, and literally roasting people (as well as has the ability to essentially distinguish between living and non living things, ie between what can and can't be cooked). So yeah, Sukuna might be literally cooking fools. Also, "Makora" is the original Japanese way to say Mahoraga, though both are technically right.

Well Makora is actually the right way to pronounce his name (you can literally hear it japanese) , and btw Mahoraga is not wrong, it's just less accurate (since both Makora and Mahoraga are actually a thing in mythology, and jjk Makora was inspired by both of them)

You see it's stuff like this that makes me wonder if Hanami was genuinely stronger. Because if you compare volcanos to the forest, the forest to the ocean, and the ocean to humans the power levels going up based on negative emotions should theoretically be Jogo, Hanami, Dangan, then Mahito. Because volcanos are naturally destructive by nature that's why Jogo can have such a stronger flashy display. Like i can see Hanami being stronger but Jogo can beat Hanami, and Dangan beating both. Could also explain the question of why didn't autopilot Toji target Jogo next and that's because Megumi is stronger than Jogo.
In the manga Sakuna doesn't destroy the city in a fight. Sakuna walks up to a street corner, Domain Expansions, deletes the city for absolutely no reason, then turns the body over to Yuji. I feel the manga was more impactful than the anime (obviously the battle was outstanding) because its at that moment that Sakuna being evil is solidified, you know with out a doubt this is not Naruto and Kurama, Sakuna is pure evil and Yuji is literally carrying a demon within him.
? I think you're mis-remembering how that fight happened. Sukuna 100% destroys the city in the fight with Mahoraga in chapter 119. Now, it's true that he can control the range of his Shrine to an extent so he didnt need to nuke 140 meters, but he definitely does that in the manga. I always took it as the Fuga that completely leveled and cleared out all the space in that area tho. Sukuna is the definition if "I do what i want".
I want to say that Gojo can be blamed for this incident. If bro just step back from the prison realm for 1 second and not have gay thoughts about his homie. Shibuya wouldn't happen and everything will be resolved.
