- Travel and tourism is constantly changing. If you've watched Washington DC travel tips videos that are more than a few years old the information might be old and out of date! I'm calling out some videos that have information that is no longer valid.

This is such an important video. I love how you acknowledge that advice can change over time because the attractions change, tourism patterns change, and even our own experiences and opinions. Thanks for this really classy and well done video!:)
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for the kind words.
I travelled from Dupont Circle to Dulles airport on a Sunday (the interchange at Metro Centre is very easy with escalators and lifts) for just $2. The airport is way outside of DC so I am very confident this is the cheapest city centre to airport rail journey in the developed world, both on a cash and cash per km basis. And the service is clean and frequent. Thanks DC Metro!
$2 is undoubtedly the best deal out there.
Great video. So true. I always check the date of travel videos. My threshold is a year if the information is specific to technology or restaurants. Just to bash some NYC youtubers, I have told a couple of the big ones twice that they should take down their old videos on getting from LaGuardia to Midtown, and do new ones because the MTA now has a dedicated no-fare bus (before there was a complicated ticketing system). But neither has done anything about it. - Anyway, I'm enjoy your video. I live close by in NOVA and love DC. If the weather is decent and I have the time, I go in about once a week to soak in the beauty and history.
Just got back from DC and had a great time!! Thank you Rob for the videos you put out!! They were really helpful!! Definitely will go back again soon!!!
Happy to hear you had a fun trip!
Loved our train journey from NYC to D.C. last year on Amtrak, got to see so much more of your fantastic country. We’d love to do more train journeys in years to come.
Any more live videos planned Rob? We missed the last one as we were on holiday
I will likely have a few more lives this year! 😄
Hi Rob, I went to DC last August and I loved the city! Thanks to all of your trip hacks videos my visit was wonderful! I really appreciate it! it's really helpful!
Happy to help!
You videos have been really useful. Im from Singapore and visiting DC in Dec
Have fun!
Could you share with us what to pack for my 8th grade trip to Washington DC. Thank you for all you do for all of us.
You capitalized DC touring. Great on that. I was there 2 weeks ago on vaca. I took Uber and lime scooters everywhere. Best way to get around. The wharf and Georgetown though are amazing areas to explore!
Speaking of food courts, "The Square" is opening on Tuesday, it's the one that used the be called "International Square" above the Farragut West metro station, but they don't call it a food court, they call it a "food hall"
Yeah that one looks like the fanciest food hall of them all.
Earlier in the pandemic, I found that in some cases the secondary doors to museums on the Mall weren't even open. I don't know if that's still the case, but it sure was a frustration to go to the wrong side of one of the huge museums on a hot day and then have to treck half a mile around the building to get in.
At one point during covid it was one traffic (one side for entering, the other side for exiting). This is no longer the case.
Rob, do you have any friends who do tours or youtube videos for Boston? I keep looking for similar things because I love your breadth of videos :D
Unfortunately I do not know any tour guides in Boston. Sorry!
We took Amtrak from Union Station to BWI in July and it was only $17 for 4 of us. (2 kids) I didn't look at MARC but I thought we got a pretty good deal (especially compared to Uber XL, etc)
That's a good deal.
Rob. How late does the Metro run at night? We need to get back to the DCA airport area.
Times under "last train" www.wmata.com/rider-guide/stations/national-airport.cfm
Great video! We are supposed to come there in a couple weeks. Nervous about possible government shutdown and things we really want to see will obviously be closed.
Guess if that's the case we'd have to cx at last minute. Ugh..

Obrigado, Rob!!
You are welcome!
Can I use Apple Pay just tapping the virtual credit / debit card or must it only be with the virtual Smartrip card in the Apple wallet?
Smartrip app requires a U.S. phone number so unless you have this the Smartrip app is not an option.
Anyone know how much a MARC 1 way ticket from BWIA to Union station is?
Around 8$
@@sammymarrco47 Thank you!!
I’ve had good luck with Apple Maps
Thanks for confirming!
The Metro though took 2x as long to get somewhere vs Uber …🤨
Depends where you’re going and what time of day it is. DC has some of the worst traffic in the US. Plus due to presidential shenanigans roads can be closed for 5 to 10 minutes without any warning for the motorcade. And without a group metro is always gonna be cheaper.
Hey Rob, the news makes it sound like crime has sky rocketed in DC. Have you found this to be true? Could you share your opinion in an upcoming video?
I address this in podcast episode 45. triphacksdc.com/podcast45
Smart trip card shattered in my hand, so now I use Google Wallet.

Latest podcast episode is great btw
Thanks, Joe!
