Just took my family with a 6 and 7 year old for 7 days to DC. Stayed near metro center and only needed the metro. Day 1 Memorials and Holocaust Museum, Day 2 Zoo and White House, Day 3 Cruise to Mt Vernon, Bens Chili, Nationals Game, Day 4 Arlington Cemetery, Fords Theater, Natural History Museum, Day 5 American History Musuem, Changed hotels stayed in Alexandria, Dinner at Gadsby Tavern, Day 6 Capitol tour, Supreme Court, Union Market lunch, Ghost tour old town Alexandria. Day 7 Lunch Flew back to Phoenix. Thanks for all your tips.
thanks for this list! we are coming from the UK for 6 days in early July and this has given me many more ideas, especially fords theatre which I forgot was in Washington DC. also was bens chilli bowl worth going to because everyone says its great but is it just a tourist trap?
@@connortopping6943 the food in general in Washington was OK. Bens chili was more about the history. Dr. King was a regular. It's was good but not a must. I was disappointed in the Union Market skip that. It is not a foodie city. I travel quite a bit. Best place for food in the US so far for me has been Charlestown South Carolina. You must do to the Mt Vernon cruise, and really recommend a night down in Alexandia to just to relax. The old town had the best food on the entire trip. Don't get stuck in all the Smithsonians pick one or two. It is hot in July so be prepared and do outdoor stuff in the morning and indoor stuff in the afternoon. Make sure your hotel is next to a metro stop. We stayed near Metro Center. My list was busy but not overwhelming. With two kids we were done by 4pm to relax back at the hotel to prepare for the next day of walking. Enjoy

Your video was very helpful. We’re coming for the museums. Your tip on museum fatigue was very helpful. We’ll definitely break up the day so that doesn’t happen.
My son and I are going tomorrow. I grew up in MD, so it's nothing new to me, but it's my son's first time. I'm looking forward to seeing the Botanical Gardens again. He's reeeeally excited to see the Museum of Natural History. I think he thinks he's gonna be stepping into one of his favorite movies.
I was in DC two weeks ago and stayed in Crystal City. I had no idea how close of a walk Pentagon City was and they had plenty of great places to eat for sitting in or taking out. The wait for the Metro from one to another was far longer than how long it took to walk.
I’m binge watching your channel in preparation for a trip to DC this coming December 2022. My husband and I have never been to DC and we love Christmas so we will be there 12/20 to 12/22 to see the holiday decorations and light displays. Soooooo excited but a little worried cos we’re older and have some mobility issues regarding walking. Was relieved to see all the transport options available to us! About to watch your video about Amtrak and Union Station since that’s how we’re getting there! Thanks for your videos, feeling much better about our trip now with all your helpful information. Since we have recently moved to Virginia, we’re hoping this will be the first of many trips to our nation’s capital. Maybe we’ll see you there one day!
One of the best travel guides I’ve watched so far. Absolutely great how you broke down the major travel topics, in a comprehensive way without being too repetitive.
Love this guy!!! I live part time in D.C. and always check what Rob has to say when I am heading in for the week (or so). Bang on hiring the tour guide! There is so many connections and history you miss if you just wander from spot to spot to spot. Do it right, especially if you are with family. I would love to see a video on cool places to work for a few hours in D.C. (if you have to open the laptop on your trip) and on a day trip to Mt. Vernon (a must see/do in my book). Keep up the great work!!!
Just left DC for the first time after watching some of your videos. i didnt have much time, rented a capital bike and biked around the national mall and got some awesome night shots. like he said, dont drive there park in a garage and just go for it. i had a blast even though i just looked from the outside of everything. on the bike i was able to hit the national mall, white house, and national cathedral. I ran into a weird issue where i couldnt find an open bikeshare rack to dock my bike so i had to go out of my way, but google is pretty good about telling you how many spots are available. keep up these cool videos brother i cant wait to go back and spend some proper time

I was there about a month ago as a parent chaperone on one of those 8th grade field trips. It really is amazing how much there is to do there as well as how close together most of the sites are together.
We recently enjoyed 3 days in DC and stayed in Crystal City. Wanted to share that we spent $135 for the 5 is us over 3 days using the Metro. We didn’t do the unlimited 3 day pass but would do so if we went again. We saved $6 but that $6 would be worth the time savings considering we had to add value each day to each card. My wife and I will be coming to DC mid October. We're going by Amtrak (we're from Pittsburgh so this isn't too hard to find) and probably going to stay near Union Station. We're both in plenty of shape to do the majority of things walking, although we'll likely metro up to the zoo. There's one thing I'm not too sure about though - we absolutely want to see the Arboretum, which looks like it's not as close. What would you suggest as far as transportation there and back? Maybe an uber? Is it walkable and just isn't looking that way on the map?
Hey, I am going to DC next month and I am pretty excited about going to Georgetown. Is it easy to get to Georgetown on foot from my hotel The Westin DC? Is it easy to get on a bus. I never take public transportation so this will be scary for me. Also, does the blue line on the Metro take you all the way to Arlington cemetery?
Coming in for a conference first week in March. Coming in early Thursday morning and leaving Sunday at midnight to catch a plane back to oregon… DC is way to expensive for my budget.

Cab or Uber is your best bet.
You can use Circulator bus to get to Georgetown and blue line to Arlington Cemetery.
@@TripHacksDC Thank you!
Coming in for a conference first week in March. Coming in early Thursday morning and leaving Sunday at midnight to catch a plane back to oregon… DC is way to expensive for my budget.
Is it walking distance between the White House, Capitol building, Washingon monument, and Lincoln monument?
What about December...If I travel with kids in December what should I keep in my mind?

I will be in DC on the 3rd week of Sept. How can I join the tour. I am with my mom also and she is not capable of doing a long walk. Thanks
Send a message through the website with your trip dates and I'll see what we have available.
I am not a U.S. citizen. Can I use the capital bike there?
How many days would you recommend me to visit?
3-5 days for domestic travelers, 5-7 days for international travelers.
What building is that at 9:22?
Looks like the Library of Congress.
Yep. Eddie is right. It's the Library of Congress.

Scored a tour of the White House! But what am I supposed to do with my purse during the tour?
Leave it at the hotel.
We're going April 30th-May 4th 2025 how busy do you think it'll be ?
May is peak 8th grade field trip season. It will be busy at the major tourist sites.
@@TripHacksDC We rescheduled for early March found cheaper pricing on our hotel too
When I think of Georgetown I think of good restaurants not shopping
Presidential Inauguration has to be the worst time to visit. Luckily this isn't every year.
You forgot to say some people might arrive by boat.
GIVE ME SOPHIA!!
