  • The #solotop provides an additional level of comfort for the #visionpro but how good is it really? Is it worth it?

Smart to buy the smaller strap for the top part

Yeah I'd read that is the suggested move.

Is small because of the weight? Would L give more adjustability?

You don’t actually need to buy another solo band, just use the duo band together with the solo band

There’s a major design flaw with AVP where you can’t have a head strap that can fully support the weight of the main unit without it pushing onto your face.
If you compare it to the Quest 3 design , the side brackets can be adjusted and any third party head strap can slide onto the brackets to fully support the unit away from your face so there is no pressure.
Bit strange that Apple did not design this better with all the resources they have.

The trick is to put the back solo strap as far down your head as possible. And then keep the top solo strap a little loose.

I think 2:17 nails why some people have issues with comfort. Having the strap sitting parallel at the back of head and not so low and practically on the neck (lol) makes a huge difference. So many people online have the comfort strap sitting to low on the back of the head. And when asked why they are wearing it like that, the answer seems to be they thought it was a lot higher up.

A small velcro trap on either side will hold the small sized solo band even better. i spent the $38 on the solotop and regret that purchase. Of course, my results probably only apply to my head. :)

Interesting, I may need to try that as well.

Running a similar setup with two solo knit bands but I just use 2 small Velcro loops on each side to attach the top band.
I’m also a big fan of strapping the battery to the back of the horizontal band and coiling the battery cable alongside so that it’s basically a single unit to pull on/off conveniently. I hated the feeling of this thing pulling my head forward so the extra weight of this setup is to me far offset by the balance it provides. I mean I don’t think it looks great regardless so might as well be comfy!

Now we know why Apple *didn’t* choose this option.

No offence but it looks silly. All Apple needs to do is put the fine adjustment knobs on the other included band and it’s done. Or an enterprising 3P create their own for

Ironically, the Vision Pro "Solo Knit" headband works much better on Quest 3 than on Vision Pro! Mainly due to the lower weight and reduced COG of the Quest 3 vs AVP.
