Love how the gun safety PSA at 1:31 is followed by a clip of a man scratching his head with the barrel of his gun at 3:10. At least he knows where his handgun is!
The Iwo Jima SSB and the "Cinema 36 Late Night" were first used at the start of the station's life in 1985. They would retire these intros around '93 or '94 but the Iwo Jima SSB was used up to the point the station finally went 24/7 around 1999 or 2000.
That's OK. I figured I needed to be technical there since what we would say Friday and Saturday night we often even include those hours after midnight like it mattered.
The sign-off too varied over time. From 1985 to probably the early 90's it was just static ID tag with the usual information stated before the SSB film was shown.
3:23 “The Iwo Jima Star Spangled Banner” National Anthem Film by The United States Marine Corps Band of The United States Marine Corps as a public service.
This is the funniest sign-off ever. But not original. WJZY in Charlotte, NC signed-off with classic clips and cartoons set to Jimmy Durante singing "Good night."
Just found this. I wondered if it still existed. I created this piece when I interned at the station back in 1989. So, I guess I'm responsible.

Rather unique way to sign-off, using clips from old movies. Wished more stations did that back then.

"Drop by anytime to enjoy your favorite movies and television programs."
Then why are you signing off??
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
LOL! That signoff lasted into 1996 I remember running it on beta tape.
Wow great picture quality for being 97 miles
I miss Toledo...sometimes.
This sign-off isn't bad at all. The video of the WJZY-TV 46 (Charlotte NC) sign-off/on from the late 1980s can be found at my channel.
That late night movie bumper was made by Television by Design, yeah?
Sometime after they adopted the "FOX36" moniker they went after a more serious sign-off that had to be all flashy.
On cable in Monroe, Michigan Charter used to carry fox36 and no longer carry the station in 2013. Monroe has to watch WJBK for Fox.
What Is That Song Played On The Outro Of The Cinema 36 Logo??
Very beautiful national anthem with this image congratulations
Awesome

I think that film clip was produced in ca. 1970/as l mentioned before, it was used by Ch. 3-TV, Phila., Penna. for their "sign-ons" in early-1970s
does any one know the name of the song at start of this video ?
yea but they only sign off saturday at 205 am not friday

3:03 A ostrich😂😂😂😂
i knew of saturday didnt know they did sunday morning too :S My bad.
Of course I'm sure you mean Saturday morning at 2:05 (and again Sunday morning around that time as well since I think that's how they do it).
hahahah a retro signoff of a retro movie clips thats so ironic
i used to hate when it went off the air
Too bad they don't do Friday anymore.
Should've played blind witness all alone and that song can run our national anthem over with monster trucks
I would say it was a step up from the one they had before that was just the 36 logo and the usual boring statement.
