In Spain we had signoffs till 2005, because even when we switched to 24 hours the sign off marked the difference between the broadcast of one day and of the next day. We have 24-hours broadcast since the middle 90's. Aditionally, national tv's of the nationalities (Catalonia, Galicia, and the Basque Country) did sign off also. The Basque country did sign off with their national anthem "Gora ta gora Euskadi" and Galicia with their national anthem "Os pinos" Tv3, our public tv, did not use our national anthem (Els Segadors) and Andalucia used both their regional anthem and the Spanish one.

They should have played an AM news talk station, and that time of day, Coast to Coast AM would have been on the air. And during their off-air downtime, this loop should have also included stock quotes, sports scores, general news and entertainment news
I don't believe at the time any TV station in Puerto Rico, much less Univisión, had the budget to put a "mini CeeFax" / teletext service for the overnight hours. Univisión did had at the time an AM news station of their own to put the sound of, WKAQ 580 AM (they do put it on a certain Liberty Cable TV channel that only broadcast the program guide), but at the overnight hours (like in 2022) they rerun their talk shows from the day, which is kinda boring to listen unless you didn't before in the day...
While here in the US now and this day in age we would put a mini ceefax teletech (news/sports/weather/stocks and entertainment) service here during off hours with background music coming from like, 95.9 or 99.1 FM
