    Elbert schooled you good.
It doesn't look that hard on paper, but you'll quickly become it's *B* when actually climbing up. You were so judgemental of others, but you got a taste.
We hiked up Elbert in 2011, the summer we were training for our 2nd full Ironman triathlon (we were both in our late 30's in amazing shape) and had climbed plenty of 13ers prior.
The night before you climbed y'all were doggin people coming down at 3pm, mocking them for starting at 10am. The weather can change in a nanosecond up there. We left the summit at 11 and barely missed a thunderstorm. We had to run near treeline to take cover. Skies were perfectly clear until 11:10.
We started at 5:00am and summitted at 10. Once we hit 13K feet it was walk 40-50 steps, stop and breathe.
We were back down to the parking lot at 3pm. It was an all day event. Took us almost as long to go up as it did to come back down. We came from sea level so we hadn't been at elevation but 2 days.
It's worth every bit of effort, but it's hard as hell getting there.
    Good job, y'all!
