Day 16 was epic and the day we were most worried about on the the Collegiate West. With the exception of the last couple of miles the entire day would be above treeline and exposed. We would have to climb one pass and 4 more saddles before descending below treeline to safety. Filmed August 9, 2024

Day 15 may have been a bit shorter in miles, but not in difficulty. Lake Ann Pass as a challenge, though beautiful. More amazing ridgelines, some sprinkles and ending the day with dinner in the sunshine! Filmed August 8, 2024

Day 14 we split from the traditional Colorado Trail route (though the Collegiate East) and followed the Collegiate West, which follows the Continental Divide Trail. The West is known for its' insane beauty, which has you above tree-line a lot. We got our butts kicked going over Hope Pass and greeted with the closest thunder and lighting at camp. Day 13 we spent in Twin Lakes. Lots of hitches to and from our lodging, logistical planning for the Collegiate West, and of course eating. Filmed August 6, 2024

Day 12 we attempt make the climb up Mt. Elbert with incredible views! A much better experience than summiting Mt. Whitney last year. After the climb we made our way to Twin Lakes to resupply and stay the night. P.S. The recap on this video is longer. Day 11 had us hiking some good climbs and prepping logistics for Mt. Elbert and getting into Twin Lakes the next day. Part 2 takes us closer and closer to the Mt. Elbert trailhead. After getting properly wet during the thunderstorm we make our way back down to then go up again (of course). Day 10 had us hiking to Tennessee Pass and hiking past Bear Lake to just before Turquoise Lake. Part 2 starts after lunch as we hike a few short, but very steep uphills, then downhill till camp. Filmed August 3, 2024

Day 10 had us hiking to Tennessee Pass and hiking past Bear Lake to just before Turquoise Lake. Part 1 takes us to the pass and over. The video ends with us realizing that Mt. Elbert would be just off trail before Twin Lakes (originally thought this was after Twin Lakes). Thus began much planning and mental prep to see if we could fit it in with the food and time we had. Day 9 we hiked out of the Copper Mountain area up to Searle Pass, which was an incredibly beautiful hike up. Then some epic hiking just below the ridgeline where we saw some adorable marmots sunning on a rock before hiking down to Kokomo Pass and then down to Camp Hale and a bit beyond. Day 8 we hiked out of Breckenridge/Frisco and climb up to our first exposed ridgeline! The mountains are getting more serious and we saw our first marmots and pikas. We got to flip-flopped with some new hikers all day, which was fun. Ended the day camping just outside of the Copper Mountain ski area in the first flat spots we could really find. Day 7 is a zero and a town day in Frisco! Town days can be fun, filled with lots of good food and a shower, but they are also filled with chores and logistical challenges. How do you wash all your clothes? How and where will we resupply? Filmed July 31, 2024
