Here is a Kontakt multi patch in which there are 3 articulations for the first violins, these are spicato + legato + disco falls. Legato is controlled by the modulation wheel on the MIDI keyboard, disco falls are controlled by the sustain pedal

Really, REALLY well done on copping the vibe and texture of the strings from that era. Random observation: for anyone going for a genuine 'throwback' feel, the string sections in disco often played more 'straight' while the band had a bit more of a laid back funk pocket. I hear it as 'suburban feel' over 'urban groove', it's not for everyone or everything but done right it can definitely push a modern production a bit more authentically into the past, if that's your goal :-)

I want to make some disco funk boogie. I am a beginner song writer. I've made grooves for years but I need to learn how to make songs with horns and strings. Keep practising my keys to old soul and rob etc. I have an alto sax and a trumpet. I am a beginner on trumpet, but I think if I can compose and arrange the horns, 3 part, then I could perform the lines after practise. I want to add sampled strings like you have done here.
I have ordered Berkley press 'arranging strings' book.
I assume once I learn the different sounds strings can make, i.e. articulations etc then I just use chord voicings and harmonised melodies. I will probably benefit from transcribing some songs I like, string parts, if I can work them out.
Are there any good tutorials on composing and arranging strings around? You could probably make a lesson judging from this fine effort. What is involved?

Really appreciate the Kontakt patch, you inspired me to purchase Chamber String this black Friday. I'm halfway transcribing your track to midi and I'm already learning stuff, the use of arpeggios, etc. May I ask what the chords to the track are? I believe it is G7 - F7, right?
Once I've finished copying down the notes, I would be happy to let anyone interested have a copy of the midi file, just ask!

Wow thanks for the tutorial. Notice you have LA Scoring strings 2. Tone aside are you able achieve the same result ie fast moving notes on LASS2 or even LASS3?
Lass 2 has a very good Legate patch, but I don't
like spiccato and staccato articulations, and besides, this library lacks a very important for disco articulation Fall. In the library NI Session Strings 1-2 there is a Disco File articulation too, but the sound of Chamber Strings is the best imho.
DO yo know how can I trigger the different instruments inside a single loaded konakt if I have a push 2 controller?

Question: How do you keep the legato multi from playing when you keyswitch to the Disco Falls? I just can't seem to figure that out. the legato always plays along with the Falls...where am I screwing this up?
Legato patch is always on, just its volume is at a minimum, the volume is controlled by the modulation wheel, at the right moment I just raise the volume of the legato.

Each articulation has a keyswitch. These keyswitches are recorded in the midi track.

@@Sunandrey The typical disco-y strings sound, that's what I'm referring to.
@@esahm373 I think this is not suitable for disco, Intimate Strings is too primitive in terms of articulations, there is no legato, tremolo, and falling glissando in this library, without these articulations I can't imagine how you can make a good disco.
