I have to laugh at myself and my own arrogance sometimes; a lot of times actually. When I first ran across this guy, he struck me as being just like a hyperactive, club-kid friend of mine. I didn't think there was a whole lot of substance, and that he had nothing to teach me. But I found that I kept coming back to the videos. And eventually I realized that I was being a schnook. He might not know a lot of conservatory music theory but he knows a lot of very important stuff about creating actual music that sounds incredible. So, even though I never put anything negative into print, I apologize for my attitude. Great, amazing videos. Happy New Year.
this is one of the only channels I've found where the person actually just gets to the point and clearly explains what to do. Some of these other guys I've watched take like an hour to explain what you do in 10 minutes
I was taught to never start with vocals, which always made me a little sad since I could hear the melody in the lyrics so easily, and I can write lyrics anywhere and save them in my notes app. I have so many half and fully written songs that I didn’t think would see the light of day bc I couldn’t make music that fit it. Thank you for showing this process, I would’ve never thought to try it as a beginner since most people say it’s harder. Watching this made making music look easy and fun again, and inspired me.
Music is art, and art doesnt follow rules. It s good to have rules but you must decide which to break when. I often start to try something, no matter what. And at the end I have a song. This guy is certainly great. Unfortunately I counldnt find the free vocals
What I ve learned from this video: a song has an intro, chorus and vocals, usually you drop at the last chorus, you can make a melody by matching vocals, add repetition, but change it a bit between the 3 sections of the song, add expression, transition effects are a must. And also I need to get some plugins lol
I'm not sure how many producers (especially newer ones) have access to original, fully arranged acapella vocals. As the title of this video implies, if our arrangements already suck, it probably means we definitely do NOT have that. I still learned a ton by watching you produce a really cool track with those vocals. Thank you, Alex.
I just discovered your channel tonight and have only watch a couple of videos. - wow. You have a magic way doing very little work and getting astonishing results. Brilliant!
I seriously appreciate your tutorials as someone who is still relatively new to producing! Sometimes this stuff is just intuition to me when I get bursts of inspiration/ideas for songs, but I usually get stuck part-way through an idea because I don't know what to do next. Hearing you explain these topics and how to actually develop these musical ideas further is really motivating!! By the way I really love the little moments in your videos where you show your excitement about something you just did, like 5:42. That's really just how it feels sometimes!!
I don't even know what to say..... Man.... just.... Ugh... Gorgeous subtle song here. I'm very... very excited to be back into production. Also doing my own vocals n stuff. With your tips and advice, secrets and everything I'm on my way to somewhere beyond the horizon.
The notes in Amaj are A, C#, E (root, third, fifth notes of the scale). Alex just moved the C# up an octave, so now you have A, E, C# (root, fifth, third)
Instead of just copying and pasting the 1:30 seconds of your track, you can copy and paste the chorus again and low pass all the drums and things like the pads and leads so the arps and stuff sticks out. Then you can break it all down to just the kick drum and bass after that, still automating the bassline with a low pass filter. Then bring it all to a build again, copy and paste the chorus and take off the low pass filter automation. You should be at the 3 minute mark by the time youve done all this so now all you need to do is copy the pad chords and arps and fade them out for a 30 second outro. You can alternate the different choruses by going halftime for the first drop, and full time for the low pass part. Ive been doing this for most of my new songs.
Thx to your production techniques i was able to come up with an interesting cord progression that i liked. I was originally gonna make Prog house then it ended up turning into a sort of RnB track which i was ok and happy making and finishing. I actually had confidence to finish the track and somehow not gwt stuck on how i wanted it to sound. Thx you Alex. MASSIVE SUB
I love your content. I just started music production after quitting making music more than 10 years ago to start my programming career so that I can get a paycheck to be able to pay the bills. Now, after a couple of burnouts, I've found back the joy of producing music. I'm in love with the melodic house and expressing all kinds of emotions in a song. And you give the cleaner tips and tricks on how to do just that and you have the most positive attitude. Thanks! Keep doing what you do. Subscribed and clicked the bell.
Dude I always struggle with arrangement. I can finish songs but the arrangement just doesn't make sense. After watching this I realized that I overcomplicate it and I just needed guidance. THank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With this guy you can see the passion for creating music, so I trust him, and learn a lot, thanks.
@This Guy this guy lmaoooooo
@This Guy 💀💀

He's a little over-enthusiastic for my tastes. Isn't it haunting!

Yea intros suck as well, they take up like a third of the video

Wow it adds so much emotion to the vocal and the results turn out powerful.

Theres always buncha free stuff
He probably got it from Splice. Thats what I use for my acapellas. Lot's of them that can be used.

Your videos are so informative, one of the best out there. I learn so much from you, thank you for this! 😁
Thank you for helping me chase my dreams
2:37 In the chords progression, how can the first notes be A major? It’s not 3-2, it has more steps between the notes. Can someone please explain.
The notes in Amaj are A, C#, E (root, third, fifth notes of the scale). Alex just moved the C# up an octave, so now you have A, E, C# (root, fifth, third)
This guy is on a different level
4:29 Heaven is here 💛
