What you demonstrated is load braking. To be regenerative braking, you have to store the energy of motion back into a battery. The rpm on the motor from a 24v being fed to will not generate 24v to recharge your battery. The way to recharge it is to to boost the voltage to 26.8v or so.
What mechanism would you suggest could recharge battery while freewheeling per say, it's an idea I've had but struggling to bring forward. On a bike for this project, any advice would be grateful..
Your presentation and the content was very good, if possible please do a video about regenerative breaking mechanism employed in cars like Tesla and how they harness the power back to battery.

I thought that was the regenerative breaking being used for, originally in racing cars then on the road worthy electric cars... ✌️ Logically whats needed is a circuit to allows normal uses of electric motor, then redirect (one-way, in reversed polarity I assumed) the excess/generated current during breaking/non-supplied operation the motor to storage dev (capacitor bank) in controlled manner (one-way, load balancing n controls to avoids damages from probably current spikes during recharging/breaking - something akin to diode or snubber circuit). Thou I might be wrong n there probably more efficient n better way of doing this.

If the wires are kept connected and the motor is forced to run continuously with the help of an external rotating machine heating will start with time depending upon how fast the machine is rotating the motor and it is going to burn the windings with time like after an hour or maybe two hrs..... Why do you ask for running it continuously in such a condition ????
Please provide rotar designing calculation,for example length breadth of rotar core and gauge of wire wound with number of turns for each slot of rotar. I wanted to know that which motor produces maximum starting torque DC motor or PMDC motor.
due to this high current ., i feel it is not advisible to drive in regen mode, since frequently we charge the car battery ... lessens the efficienty / life of the battery.. your comments please

Because it is for a short time. For few nano seconds to be precise. If same was suppose to be continuous for long time may be for 20 to 40 seconds....adapter even motor winding would have blown away.
What are you trying to show here by shorting? This is not regenerative breaking. Regenerative breaking doesnt mean to break the motor, its generating power during breaking.
