    Hikoki wins simply by having a dial. I accept small lights needing push buttons for modes, but big lights should have dials.

      I’ve had the hikoki for about a year now and it does not disappoint. Very portable too

      I wouldn’t wish the knob on their smaller models on my worst enemy. I have the identical Metabo version of the Metabo HPV/HiKoki. Clearly nobody field tested the thing. Absolutely stupid design decisions through and through.

    The Bosch GLI 18C 4k lumens is actually made by Scangrip. They are the same price (go figure) The scan grip is CAS battery compatible

    Love my Dewalt light. I use the handles as a crutch when crawling around in tight/dark spaces. Plus the Bluetooth is a nice feature, zero issues. I use 6/8/9ah batteries because it’s designed to illuminate larger areas with more natural light* it drains em fast. Throw it on a tripod pod or hang it form a joist you won’t hear the buzz 🎼 Cheers!

    I have the earlier edition of the Milwaukee. While it's a really good light, it's probably the one I use least. It's just clunky and has too big a footprint for most of my uses. They make some damn good lights, but some of their form factors are a bit puzzling. This is one of them. Their color temperature is amazing, though and pulls a lot of weight for me. Colors are accurate with them, like natural daylight. That really makes a difference for a lot of my work. The light isn't harsh and you can work for hours with them without the eye fatigue I get with the cold ultra white led lights. I find myself using their folding tripod lights and smaller work lights MUCH more often. That said, Metabo got the form factor perfect here. Compact, small foot print, adjustability. Hard to beat. The dome style like the DeWalt, while not so good as a general work light IMO, are best used hanging upside down for lighting whole rooms like a built in light fixture. I do like the AEG fold out wing lights.
    Battery LED lighting is simply amazing. There are so many good ones out there. I think if Milwaukee put their warm LEDs in the Metabo, that would be as close to the perfect work light as I could imagine.

    I have the dewalt and I agree it feels plasticky but over the last four years it has not broken anywhere
    Also I find it good to hang from the ceiling as the nipple lights the whole room

    We are currently insulating a 600m² flat roof. Because of the extreme heat, we work before sunrise. And after sunset. Portable lights have been a life saver.

    I own the AEG, best all rounder. Can do area and spot lighting. Corded and cordless. A thousand different mounting points and styles. Definitely feels cheap but sometimes you just have to look after things.

    I have the Milwaukee 2144 - put a pair on the roof of your car and folks will think you’re tho police 😁
    My light is an area light only.. Three lighting levels that excel in lighting up a single room. Sit on a shelf or hang from a hook. Great shadow-free light and long battery run time.

    Idk why bosch went with that single led, it was a mistake imho.

    I think you're getting lux and lumens mixed up. Your meter measures lux (brightness at a point) which favours more focused lights (you could buy a cheap zoomable flashlight that would probably saturate your meter). Lumens is total brightness in all directions. You need an integrating sphere to measure lumens.

      I did kinda say that.

    • @ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL
      @ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL  Рік тому +5

      And it did still show the relative brightness of the lights to each other when directed at that single point. I don't want to be too professional bro.

    • @toolscientist
      @toolscientist Рік тому +5

      @@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL yeah, but then you kept talking in lumens and saying that the Makita exceeded its rating whilst the Dewalt was much lower. It's a bit like measuring km/h of blowers, then talking as if those measurements are LPM/CFM, and then saying that a little dust blower is more powerful than leaf blower.

    The metabo HPT one is identical to the metabo one (BSA 18 LED 4000), Interesting that they're sharing tools between the two brands now when they said they wouldn't.

    @Tools & Stuff. Thanks for the great and thorough review of those work lights. Can't think of anything you left off. It would've been interesting if the Dewalt had a clear dome bezel instead. I guess that helps to make the light less harsh. I have both the Milwaukee and the Ridgid (AEG) lights. I like them both.
    Hope you and your family stay safe and well.
    Cheers.

    I use Hikoki only for lights. I have all of hikoki lights including tripod model from Japan. the best of hikoki light is 10,000lm model. remove battery cover, it perfectly fits in Milwaukee packout 3 drawer. it is super slim and very bright. Also, it has coded power. I have Milwaukee tower light and makita light. I really like the tone of Milwaukee light. it's very warm and eye comfortable. but I can ditch all of light. they are just too bulky. most of ligths have unnecessary bulky stand. very annoying to carry around. I really love Hikoki lights they need more recognition.

  • @Junk4508

    For me, such a concept as a strobe is very important when the leds flash in low modes. And Milwaukee blinks really hard on low mode.

    I wish makita would start focusing on making there stuff more compact. I don’t see why something as simple as an LED lamp has to be so big. Same as the duel charger. Huge for no good reason. we all carry so much gear these days.. make it smaller and lighter ffs. Ok rant over. Great vid as always.

    I do love my bosch 4000 lumen, but the positioning is… problematic. However, the 10000 lumen is such you could use it during the Battle of Britain, ironically.

    The sad part is that the modified scangrips are probably the best of the Bosch 18v lighting . Bosch literally manufactures products for power tool companies that have way better lighting. And those worklights are that of another third party that they could just buy the lights from and put their name on.

    I love my Dewalt light, awesome area light. Bluetooth is garbage. Squeeze a 12 amp pack in there and it'll run a reasonable time, not actually timed that yet. For working, area lights a far superior, I'm a sparks, so working in the dark quite a lot.
    I also have the Bosch 10k light. It's nice, but why have all the light in one direction? Two hours forty from a 12 Amp pack.
    My Milwaukee M12 lantern is as good as the Dewalt, but only about a fifth the size. Superb kit, and has USB!
    I must stop buying lights.
