@@bigirononmyhip3812 the way the knife swings matters. The heavy knife cannot stab middle screen while the knife can. That means you can be more accurate with the knife AND less chance that a random wall or obstacle tanks the dmg of your strike

Because they got buffed in the Hunt 1896 2.0 update to instantly deal 25 burn dmg. Now they will immediately destroy a small health chunk (it used to be best to play with small chunks only) unless you have salveskin. Even with salveskin trait and very fast reaction, you are still put in 1 shot territory from Mosin and Lebel for the next 20 seconds. Also you get 4 (other mines are only 2, traps 3, but traps are much easier to spot and cant be put on walls) and alerts are very versatile - you can use them to ignite bodies, like fusees and flare pistol (and you can delay the igniton for after you loot the body, so you can recover your trap from the same person you ignite) and you can set traps with explosive barrels or the 200$ dark satchel for instakills. Also, they only cost 30$ which is cheaper than almost any other tool
Weak shots are usually worse, duh, but I think there is an argument for weak health shots due to their fast injection time in a pinch. If you don't have something like physician + wilderness then I'd say there is a strong argument for weak health shots.

I don’t agree with most of the list but I disagree the most about where you placed dusters. Best melee in the game. Only one where I can kill a heavy and a few grunts afterwards and still have stamina. Heavy knife and knuckle knife are bad. Just a weaker heavy attack with knuckle knife and the lights take too much stamina before you kill a immolator, you can hardly deal with 2 grunts after, the knife is good for PvP but again not being able to kill immolator and having to use all your stamina with your weapon. Dusters are king. Love your content man!
I’m glad you like dusters but their reach feels really bad even tho it’s supposed to have the same reach as knife and no bleed applied from either attack of dusters. Also, you can play however you want but there are ways to completely negate stamina consumption in the game (stam shot, conduit, magpie, etc). So does stamina consumption matter in a situation where you have infinite stamina? If you are needing to kill a bunch of ai and don’t have infinite stamina, you are kinda screwed no matter what. You will be taking dmg or worse unless you have a throwable tool, as those can be thrown with no stamina and still do full dmg. what about hard to reach ai? All the throwable melee’s take of the same tool slots so why not bring those to cover all bases instead of just the close up ones? What I’m saying is dusters is def not king in the tool slot. If you are comparing the non throwables, which are completely outclassed by the throwables, I think if you bring knife/knuckleknife/dusters are all fine picks. Use whichever you like. There are pros and cons to all three but if I had to rely on one of those to kill a player I’d choose knife so not only does it deal with ai but gives you a better chance against players as well imo.
