Hey man just got recommended your channel, I’m an American truck driver and it’s cool to see how different it is there. I’ve never driven a coe truck before but it seems like they are definitely purpose built to navigate the tighter roads there. Cool video and great insight. I subbed stay safe on the road buddy ✌️
Well I'm a Dutch truck driver and I really love the mentality of the motorists in England. They are the most patient and well-behaved drivers. And I drove around Europe through 12 countries.
@@_.A.J._ agreed. Too polite in my opinion, because I am not used to it. I am used to intuitively decide when to give up my priority whenever the flow of traffic can be bettered for example or for someone running after a bus for example. But the Brits just let anyone pass whenever, wherever, seemingly no logic behind it other than wanting you to be in front of them😂

We might slow down a little, see if you wanna filter in, but if you're indecisive you missed your chance lol. Depending where you could even get honked at for making a priority stream of cars stop.

Cool little trip. Lived in West Germany from 88 to 91 and did a few long road trips in the back seat of a 240 wagon. Currently hauling liquid asphalt around Ontario and Quebec Canada. This here video was great. Thanks and I'll be watching some more as I'm on my reset time here.
Really enjoyable video Ian, Fair play to you for recording your first trip. See you got a touch of the Ned Kelly’s when you hit traffic! Good luck with everything 👍
Thanks for the video. I am not a truck driver and it is great to get some insight into your world. I am also glad to know that I am not alone in finding Dover and Calais really confusing!
you should put 2 cameras on each far top corners of lorry pointing forward. this way they will capture most of the cabin from the outside and part of the road. Should be cool to watch while going through narrow roads and turns :)
As a Belgian citizen I giggled when you came back over Brussels :D But that's a lesson learned i guess ! :D Great video by the way! Really enjoyed this long vid!
I used to tour around Europe with a Motorhome and for me it was always a pleasure driving anywhere across the Channel compared to what we put up with in UK! The Autobahns in Germany are an absolute joy to drive and service area facilities are top class and there's always oceans of parking space. I don't know if they charge for HGV's but Motorhomes and cars have no charge at all and you can stay as long as you need. I've parked up on some which even had barbeques for people to use.
The Tory/Windsor/Oligarch climate of land ownership/lordship over the great British serf/peasants is what prevents the people of the UK from leading as pleasant a life as those on the European continent. Funny how the Russian influence in Londongrad over the push for Brexit, has come at great expense to the serf/peasants, and gains of the Tory/Windsor/Oligarch set. Vote Tory, and support the Windsor crown, and you're basically voting to for you, and your children, to keep getting eff'd in the 'B'!
Great video mate. I’m not a truck driver but I used to do uk-Belgium-Holland in a 7.5 ton back in the late 80s. Did that same route round Gent once and remember shit loads of traffic lights! Haha. Nice one mate makes me want to get back into driving
Mate I'm a trucker in New Zealand....best video I've seen in ages, honesty, great footage. Ya fark up ya owned it Rudy brilliant mate. 1st video I've seen from you dunno how it popped up on ma feed but well played, your a natural. Go well
Driving once in the UK, I had to ajust really to driving on the left side. I had to think about that when I saw the driving seat here on the left. We did go with our own car, otherwise I thought, I had to get used to a different handling (gearbox on the left instead of the right), but it still was quit difficult, especially on the roundabouts. Driving with a truck that must be even more difficult, big respect!
Beautiful cars those Volvos, I have never driven the new model but for years with its predecessor, they remain great cars. Holyhead! there I once loaded aluminum in 2011 at one of the largest factories that have ever been there, I later learned that the company had closed! I wish you a lot of safe kilometers / miles but that should work with such a thick Volvo!! Take Care!! I am a retired professional driver and have also been able to tour all over Europe!!
Very cool to see one of the yellow Whitworth Bros trucks in the video at 11:28, one of their plants is pretty local to me and it's always fun to see them wherever they crop up

its also because of the HARD lenght limit for normal commercial trucks
so taking off the nose adds some extra metres/yards cargo
