And at times David time will be required to get your rest in between finishing and starting again which is super important when you're driving all week so please don't worry about the length of time between videos
I always enjoy double manning trips and videos and camera angles in this video are great plus the views of the mountains were stunning thank for another incredible video
Fair play to you David for giving Tom a chance I recently passed my class 1 but have had no luck at the moment with jobs. This experience thing is a big problem for new pass drivers even with 13 years class 2 driving experience, we have all got to start somewhere take care and stay safe
Morning David & Tom 😊 I did double manning for a few years and made a good friend out of it 😄 It’s hard going sometimes but very enjoyable with the right guy and Tom looks that so of person for you David 👍🏻 Daffy Duck 🦆 looking good too 👍🏻
Some 25 years ago I went down the Mont Blanc pass with and old Renault truck and a heavy load of 65 tonnes and only engine brakes. Scary as hell but managed to make it without losing the brakes. Nice memories. Thanks for sharing!
Back in the 80's I remember towing a caravan down "The Road of Death" with a Datsun Cedric 260C Estate. It took a lot of concentration! I have every respect for you truckers.
Hi David & Tom a great interesting blog & very educational for those heading out to Europe as a driver for the first time ! To take on your advise and to follow your ways they can not go wrong as your ways are 100% true and well worthy of the time it takes . Keep on trucking @ Dc European .
My one and only trip over the water was delivering shop fittings down to XPO in Colleferro south of Rome through the Blanc. Went in a 3 truck convoy sandwiched between 2 drivers one who had been all over Europe with his dad in the early days and on his own on tankers plus the other had done all Europe plus Middle East and even convoys in Iraq during the war With Military escort( shown me photos to prove it) so I had great guides with it been my first time. I loved every single minute of the trip and would recommend it to anyone if given the chance. If I was single and had no kids I’d be away weeks at a time👍👌
How's it David, thank you for a cool and informative video. I cringed when you opened the rear tool box as I didn't see any locks or keys. I used to drive trucks from Zambia to South Africa and Zambia to Tanzania. Then I drove in south east Queensland, Australia. The reason why I cringed was, if you tried that in Africa, the next morning, you'd find an empty toolbox. We also had to chain our two spare wheels, diesel tanks and battery tray as these would disappear. We would have to put barbed wire on the back of a loaded flatbed to stop theft while going up hills. Watching you guys drive through Europe and on those beautiful roads makes me jealous. Thanks, all the best and keep trucking.
I passed my class 1 more than 10 years ago. But I went straight from other non driving jobs to class 1. My advice to anyone find a big major company that will be most likely self insured. It will help alot.
Hi David no apologies needed uv got a business 2 run & a family 2 take care of but it's great 2 see that ur ok & getting lots of work, look after urself & keep the videos coming (when u can of course we all thoughly enjoy them!!) 😁👍
Hi David &Tom. Before the motorway was opened at the end of 88 gooing to the Mt Blanc. From the hot bakery just outside macon to the place Bellegarde was about 3,5 hours,With Livestock😉😉From Bellegarde,The Monkey Bar to the enterance was About 1.5 hour WHEN there was little traffic and a clean road. After the tunnel to the customsplace in Aosta was between 1.5 hours and 2 hours. The first 14 kilometers down were way worse then gooing down into france. I have seen many smoking brakes and many trucks with broken mirrors. But they were in a position you could adjust the breaks very well without getting dirty. Safe trips and keep the rubber where it belongs, on the road or in your pocket
@@colinrunciman5166 You are right, but the dutch called it the Warme Bakker or in english:The hot Bakery. The same as The restaurant in Bellagarde was called Bellevu but the dutch and Flemish called it the Monkeybar, because Annie, the owner had a small monkey in a cage. Don,t know about the Bakery, but Bellevu is closed, passed on holiday last year.
Good man Tom. Only got half-hour leeway on the Blanc - guaranteed that something would eat up that, then so (Customs, Policia Stradale, etc.); if Fréjus is open overnight, Plan A should have been head there. First did the Blanc when T1s needed to be stamped at Aosta - if you didn't make it there before 5.30pm Friday, you were eating camion stew until 9am Monday morning .... and there was a 5 mile queue of lorries up that old road to Aosta by Monday morning.
Well done both of you, great video, And impressed with your explanation, invaluable for new drivers, I love to see people sharing their knowledge of their profession, thanks
Fantastic Boys. Great insight to European driving and running your own business, on the road. Shortly taking my HGV (LGV) class one, if you have any 'double driver' trips, i'll come along (when i've passed) foc. No problems. Cheers fella.
I'm a former Canadian trucker "owner Operator" . Now retired. For many years I hauled fright from USA to Canada and vice versa. That took me all over the USA and Canada. I loved the Kenworth W900 I wore out two of them with my driver Allen. Between 1984 and 1998. I then began leasing tractors till I retired at 68 years old. During my time in the industry I met a Irish man called Brian Donnelly. He was a grate fan of the Scandia truck and told me many stories of traveling from Ireland to Italy. I since meeting Brian have looked a little closer at the UK tractors.. I would like to drive one for a few days to get the full feel of a Scandia with all the bells and whistles. I see your driving a D A F Aparently an other very nice UK tractor
loved the video and toms a real nice guy and perhaps you should consider him for your next expansion of your company, if you can can you try and explain the advantages of a tri axle cab and the one you use, eg 4x2 to your viewers. All the best and keep it up and thanx a lot
It's not the same over here, you still have to stop to sleep. You can take break in a moving vehicle so 4.5 hrs drive swap, 4 times but them you have to stop for 8 hours. In the states I believe you can keep going until you've both done 70 hours driving then have 34 off.
Hiya mate I done Italy in the 80s /90s now drive a london black cab. I would very much like to do a trip down to Italy. How things have changed from days the tunnel shut. So if you need a 2nd driver, look me up. Great vlog, mate.
David keep up the great work. Your videos show us some one who is caring, educating us and someone who cares. How can I be part of DC European. I want to take on Trucking as a career. Tired of banking, need a moving sort of job since I also love driving.
Lad I know was doing his morning checks engine running and a guy jumped in and drove it away 🤣, Never ever leave your cab with the keys sitting in the ignition.
Great to see you back missed watching the vlogs but business comes before anything else hope everything is going well and business is booming good to see you back on 👍
UKBF think they are some kind of paramilitary force since brexit. Always get stopped at euro tunnel. A bunch of them almost crashed in to me last time I boarded the train racing round and trying to overtake me
P&O got a new boat, must be flush after sacking all those people! Anyway, good to see you back. Don't worry about the time between videos. You still have a business to run first, before our entertainment. 👍
@brianwebb191 A good pal and onetime colleague used to leave home near Doncaster at 3am Monday, empty to Grays to load at 6 leaving about 8.30 and be blowing out, it was a tank, at Pomezia about 80km south of Rome by 3pm Tuesday. Grays to Pomezia was 27 hours driving plus ferries and breaks. Utterly bonkers. This was 93-95 in a 113-360. Then the rest of us had to explain to our German traffic office that it just wasn't happening, he is mad, we aren't.
Love hearing the business side of this industry. You say a lot you could earn more doing supermarket uk work but what would you suggest to someone new potentially wanting to go owner driver?
Another great vid matey…never got to do international work (TIR in my day 😁). Love, and did most of my stuff with a manual box, and some heavy clutches. When we went to auto boxes - what a change in the job, especially doing work into London. So was most surprised to see you with a manual box. Is a manual a better choice for European work and maintenance ? Keep those coming mate, and thank you.
Great video, im nearly 2 years into class 1 and would like to try European at some point , I was nearly tempted in doing the F1 double Manning to Austria just for some experience and I think double Maning would/is the best way to get to as you have the safety net of some one experienced in the seat right next to you.
Hi David great team work making the dream work , I never liked doing double manned work and if I could get away from it I would but on the odd occasion I had to suck it up and double man ! Obviously was not ideal as you know I only Drive 7,1/2 T trucks and have done for 40 years . Your channel is absolutely amazing and I have one question for you ! What Chanel do you use on the CB App as I have the CB app set up on my phone & I use it a lot when I am @ work . Stay safe & keep On Trucking 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Authorities, if, only delaying British vehicles, thus causing delays ( maybe, to falsely blame it on Brexit?) is ludicrous, childish and narrow minded. Because it also delays supplies to foreign businesses. 10:37 The red and white cylindrical object above the tunnel entrances, is that a sign for tunnel closed or some sort of Red Cross centre? Brutal, scenery backdrop. Very stunning. Misty mountains with cloudy peaks.
Are you looking at real wealth? In England there are so many homeless people, alcoholics, I have never seen a city other than London in an English film, beggars, jealous people, so many beatings in Rome to UK supporters😅
as a truck driver going to these amazing european destinations, are you allowed to have a friend travel with you? for example if a mate wanted to tag along for the trip or would that be a no no?
Good to have you back another interesting and informative video just one question are you excempt from displaying those Angles Morts stickers that every truck driving thru France has to display
There's no need to apologise the business has to come first before UA-cam 👍👍
👍
Gentlemen what a great video and very interesting, safe trucking chaps.
Thanks 👍im trying my best!
There is absolutely no need to apologise for being busy David that is a good thing and just keep doing what you're doing buddy

Horrible to be delayed. But I mean there's worse places to be stuck. Absolutely stunning scenery.

Thank you I have leant a lot, I just love the way you present your videos
