Definitely especially this song.... Of course it was 1989, and The Cure had a big following back then. Corgan was also a big fan of My Bloody Valentine, and I think that's more evident in the early 90's during Siamese Dream, and Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness. 1 thing that makes them different, is that Jimmy Chamberlain has amazing chops, and Corgan can out guitar solo Kevin Shields, and Robert Smith. Of course they were all uniquely good at what they did as songwriters.
Wow, I'm finally listening to this song! I've been a SP hard fan all my life, but I knew of "Jenifer Ever" because of the fantastic swedish band Jeniferever.
Thank you for this upload only played this “version” with the four of them on the cover (the one you uploaded) man I use to get blasted in high school years ago glad the video never got taken down 🤟🏻😛🤟🏻
This is the only time I like being named Jennifer. Mom gave me the name in 79 thinking it'll be a rare name for the time + lo and behold I grow up with 7 other Jennifers in my class. All the other Jennifer's were popular + I was "the weird girl" so every time someone called out "Jen!" I'd turn my head + it was for some other Jen, not me because i wasn't liked. School days were filled with rejection, The Pumpkins released me from feeling unwanted + gave me motivation to be myself no matter what.

the band evolved over time. arguably the greatest music they produced was mellon collie/infinite sadness. ARGUABY. The pumpkins constantly changed in music and artwork. I don't think comparing their albums is productive b/c I think they were doing something very different every time.
this is from the very beginning of the sp's i believe they started playing it at local clubs before any albums. Isn't it an amazing song? I went to see them live last year and i just wish they were all still together and made more music like this. I still love em though
bottom line: corgan is arguably one of the supreme architects of rock songs of the modern era. these threads of debate in which people criticize the guy/the band are amusing. it's like none of us have written songs that aren't awesome? come on guys,
@dessicatedhusk Well, hello fellow Jennifer. I think it's interesting our parallels. What's also interesting is our two different living locations. I'm in the US.
If this was released now all of the old Smashing Pumpkins fans would say it was terrible. I'm gonna try to do an acoustic over electric cover of this with a friend, and a girl I know so I can have that Darcy effect.
@nicholsjoshua15 Yes I have, I was looking it up yesterday, rreminds me of Mellon Collie, which is my all time fave. I used to not like a few songs but lately I listen to is The Smashing Pumpkins so its all grown on me.
I hate when people lump Adore with the end. All of Adore and Machina were good, inspired stuff imo. I think Zeitgeist is when they were most off-point. stuff like this will always be great though.
Yeah but I have met people that say American Gothic sucked though. You know what over The New Smashing Pumpkins have released some bad stuff but also some really good stuff, The Solstice Bare was great.
Not one of their hit singles, but one of their many strong B-sides, in my opinion. Still, I would gladly karaoke this if anyone had it (global pandemic aside).
I could listen to the Smashing Pumpkins all day and not get tired of them
I do just that
only all day?
@@kqzzy2 Amen. It’s the amount of time in a day that causes issue
:)
I tried to get one of those demo tapes years ago they were to expensive
D’Arcy back vocals 🥲
So Cure-ish, i love it
Fuck i love this song!! best pre-Gish track hands down
I like hearing D'arcy on SP tracks
I really miss the fan-made music video for this song with the early 1900s movie. I’m really sad it was taken down, that was one of my favorite videos
True 😔
D'arcy was always my dream woman through the 90's, so sad what she suffered
This photo is of happier times in the Pumpkins 🎃 family.
I saw a cute shirt on the Walmart website with these early songs on the back and now I’m listening to them and I LOVE IT

Well said. The Cure is my fav band cuz of the way they influenced billy
WHY IS THIS SO SONG STILL NOT ON SPOTIFY
bc billy hates us

I love the name Jennifer. This is a beautiful song.
🥰🥰
@@jenniferstevens9992 Gosh this comment is 11 years old. It's nice to know that not everything I said on UA-cam when I was 17 was stupid nonsense.

Love this song, (not just because my name’s Jennifer) it’s so beautiful and melodic 🥰
I bought the shirt that just came out so I had to look up the song, also a Jennifer
the riff is fucking crazy.

Jesus, this is one of their best songs!
Jesus here, yes I agree.

WOW the quality is crazy better then the crap demo I got on eBay in the 90's. One of my fav's, thanks so much for uploading!
sounds like early cure influences here :)
Great song! thanks for putting this up!
My favorite SP song
One of the best ones
This is awesome! I love this early music from 1988
Temazo weon, mi juventud corgan tiene unos temas qls insuperables

I actually like this more than Gish. Would’ve been a classic first album release
Thats real cool I agree. The vocals and feel of the 80s are just so sweet. Kinda agree with this as a first album
thank you so much for putting this up.
Hidden gem.

SP release this officially right fuckin now!! what a treasure (sincerely, from a Jennifer)
D'arcy :'(
They are playing this song at a VIP performance right now. Oh how i wish i was there!

oigan chikos nunca van a dejar de sorprenderme... los amo pumpkins son de lo mejor... d puta madre ...
I love this song!
Jennifer is m'y Girl 💖 forever u baby 🥰
Mmmmmm! Good to see this isn't the one from the Pulse recording session. This version is much more polished and sounds great!
This must be the final known version of this song with a proper second verse. On the Pulse and Psycho versions, Billy just repeats the first verse
got this on a bootleg album called 'sunshine of your love', it says this track was taken from 1989 chicago demos.
Same here.
Still listening in 2022!
The VIP Experience in Houston was a spot where they played this... totally caught me off guard.
mnmn216 ha!
great :) brings back old memories! thank you ^^
lol is there a jennifer in every body's life?
fucking love this song!
i need them to release this song
Youth is gone....everyday. I miss all of this.
I want to meet a girl named Jennifer just to recommend her this song lol
los amo mucho smashing pumpkings
Köszi Barátom!
Here in 2023 ❤️
😊😊😊
“Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins.”
“Homer Simpson, smiling politely.”
His voice sounds so perfect . Not too nazely. but there's still that corgan sound to it.
Pumpkins forever!!
im and old pumpkins fan and i think this rocks, when it was made doesn't matter. i think most of my pals that dig the pumpkins would agree.
love it

Mellon Collie was the height of his inspiration. It clearly shows in the work. How can you be so oblivious?
amazing...
the sp and moon demo tapes
SP fan I am.... Why is this song so frickin awesome? It just is I guess. so simple so good :)
Being a Jennifer this song hits
❤❤❤ τέλειο🇬🇷🇬🇷
The girl this song is about legally changed her name to jenever
Charlotte Sometimes, Jennifer Ever 😅
Damn, how can anyone claim to be an SP fan and not know Pennies?

listening to Pennies makes me want to skip down the street :)

The opposite tbh lol

The main melody sounds a lot like Pennies, another great song that a lot of SP fans don't know, from the Zero EP.

Pennies for sale!

@chrisnoaro1
YES. I know that song. I love that song. Cool that you know that and the Smashing Pumpkins. :)
I hate when people lump Adore with the end. All of Adore and Machina were good, inspired stuff imo. I think Zeitgeist is when they were most off-point. stuff like this will always be great though.
Get back together.
Amanda Laggan i wish billy and d'arcy would not have had a falling out
so close
Charlotte Sometimes loves Jeniforver
@nicholsjoshua15 I don't think they've ever released anything bad.
I'm sorry billy crew I was just very distraught deleting the negative
Same
Yeah but I have met people that say American Gothic sucked though. You know what over The New Smashing Pumpkins have released some bad stuff but also some really good stuff, The Solstice Bare was great.
No problem yo
@ZakkandtheJ I have to be honest there are a few tracks I don't like but only a few. Have you hear the new stuff from Oceania? It's great.
@bluregon it seems like a pretty generic picking riff so im sure lots of people have come up with it over the years without knowing of this song
Not one of their hit singles, but one of their many strong B-sides, in my opinion. Still, I would gladly karaoke this if anyone had it (global pandemic aside).
Well then...
Fuck you, Jennifer
0:43 sounds a LOT like I Ran (a flock of seagulls)
I'm here in 2020
Go fuck yourself
this is gold, thanks for uploading! does anyone know if there is a better quality version available anywhere? thanks!
This is as good as it gets. Just a demo
You'll have to remaster it yourself this demo is the only version released
I wish TSP had never evolved musically.. I wish they had stayed pre-Adore...
hey. big fan. just wondering if this is off the aeroplane flies high sessions? I'll check back on this video.
Derek+ness not even close. This is one of their first demos from late 1988 or early 1989
