How did I get here!!!! First I was watching a nail art tutorial and the next thing I know I'm watching this beautiful little girl sing like an angel!!!
When I see "GREAT PERFORMANCES" and think that this concert is performed by an 11 year old child, I am choked up at what a phenomenal achievement that is. What's more, it's the first of 3 concerts she had performed for PBS within a 4 year period. Whatever criticisms her detractors use to discredit her, it cannot be denied that Jackie's history as a classical crossover artist is unprecedented and speaks to her prodigious talent. At age 19 now, Jackie is the most versatile young soprano artist today, with 8 consecutive albums to hit #1 on the Classical chart, and still exploring her potential.
And just for the record, I am NOT speaking from a technical perspective, but rather "PURE DELIVERY" which is what really matters in all avenues of music. When you take into account Jackie's age (11) and the seemingly effortless flow of her notes (especially her last 30 to 35 seconds), you would have to be TOTALLY BLIND (and deaf!) to not recognize this as a WORLD-CLASS performance.
JACKIE EVANCHO! Jackie was about eleven (11) years old when she performed this song on PBS. It was brilliantly sung. However Jackie is now 14 years of age and her voice is even richer and more mature. I encourage everyone to search for Jackie's performance of "The Summer Knows," where you can see her as she is today. Even more brilliant and just as angelic!
Watch her hands...only JUST 11.. deep waters here... this little girl is SOOOO connected;; My God .. that ending is pure astonishment to me .. who has EVER sung like this before... thank you lord for her and her loved ones.
To those who say her voice is not good enough for opera, if her voice makes you feel anything, then she is a gift. Not all singers can move people’s feelings in that way! Your opinion may be valid on technique and whatever, but don’t trash her.
Jackie has brought audiences to their feet in tears singing opera, because they have no expectations of her to measure up to the demands of operatic technique. Placido Domingo and other opera singers have performed/recorded contemporary love songs with no demands upon them to sing with other than their operatic voices. An aria sung outside the opera house as a concert piece may be performed by any artist in his/her particular vocal style. Jackie is a phenomenon (prodigy) who has never had an intention to appeal to the internet critics who's classical sensibilities seem threatened. David Foster said in the "The Making of Dream With Me" that she would "get flack for recording Nessun Dorma, but those people won't buy the album anyway". Let them complain. Their criticisms are irrelevant, unless they can't stifle the compulsion to be rude and disrespectful of Jackie, as many have been in the past.
Nessun Dorma is a classic song in opera, but in here she is showing entirely new way of expression. It is very unique and beautiful expressions!!! Especially, her breathing and articulations are beyond descriptions!
Jackie starts touring again in Florida, 24 Mar in Clearwater, the 25th at the Villages, and the 22nd in Ft Lauderdale. Looks as if she'll release a new album before the tour.
If you will do a little research regarding just how well Miss Evancho's voice is looked after and cared for then you would be able to relax and enjoy her music from now on. She has very protective and involved parents and her vocal cords are checked on a regular basis by expert doctors. She always has vocal cords that are "in pristine condition" per Dr. Kessler of New York. Also, as a prodigy, she is able to give any song the exact sound she wants it to have with no strain. Enjoy the music.

She is 22 years old, and her adult voice has not "landed" yet. As a classical crossover artist, she has recorded/performed in multiple genres since age 11, wanting to cross boundaries and test her capabilities.........classical, classic pop, movie themes, Christian, Broadway, jazz, symphonic metal, contemporary pop and country.....consequently having become the most versatile young soprano of this century, with 8 consecutive albums to hit #1 on the Classical Chart. Her latest album, released in Sept. is a tribute to legendary singer/songwriter, Joni Mitchell, which hit the Amazon Best Sellers in Folk chart at #1.
Jackie was just 11 years and 2 days old when filming of Dream With Me in Concert started on April 11, 2011. The filming ran from April 11 thru April 14, 2011.
I know, it's awesome. It's that signature "bell like" quality that makes her singing voice so beautiful, even putting aside the "wow" factor about her age.
There are many great voices, but Jackie connects with emotion and that is what has always distinguished great singers from the timeless artists of our history.
In the midst of all the tourmoil in the world today, jackie has given us a great gift, an absolute assurance that there is still beauty and goodness in this world.
This Nessun Dorma may be her finest one of all of them. And I believe it's the only one without the backup choir. Her last two "vincero's" were long, strong, and pristine. Heart stopping.
There are quite a few who think that Jackie's performance of Nessun Dorma on Britain's Got Talent was best but I differ. This one is best in my opinion. Technically better, all notes strong, steadier, spot on and held longer. I believe it may be because she might be more relaxed in this venue with a conductor in front of her and some familiar faces around. And I believe this song was at or near the end of the concert. All ready settled in and going strong.
MoMoMyPup10 They did have a choir in Houston, but on that particular song it didn't sound like they were involved in it. I could be wrong. Maybe someone who was there can confirm whether or not they were.
There's not a lot of performers these days that make me cry. I'm not that guy. What a gift! Yes, she's young. Her breath control isn't perfect. But my God what a talent. Imagine 20 years from now if everything goes well for her.
She has created a new status in the opera and classical crossover!.The Bell singing, the voice of God! And that is something that the great masters of the Opera will not accept, let alone a girl of 10 to 13 years.
I have been watching and listening to Jackie since I first saw her on AGT; a brave little soldier that stood before the world and sang her heart out. I have seen her perform live and I have some of her cd's and DVD's. The choice sometimes in life is to give it all now and make something that is unlikely to be repeated or to play it carefully and have extended staying power. I believe Jackie gave it all and the recorded performances will not be equalled in many, many years.
If you've never met an opera fan who was snobbish then you haven't been around long enough. Stick around and you will run into a few characters right here :)!
The opera that this aria is from is wonderful. Worth the watch! Romantic story of winning love. Gotta read the english translation to know what is being said.

Agree with tube7562, she basically taught herself, along with a true blessing from God. She is a very young lady, and I am sure she will only get better with time. So get off your high horse and give the girl the credit she deserves!
The last three phrases of this song repeats "I will win". While Jackie rarely understands the English translation of the songs she sings, she did understand "I will win". Look at her eyes and expressions at the songs end. She will win !
Most people are like a teenage cheerleaders. We have many examples when perfectly good child singers cannot sing good later. Some have damaged voice cords and some just change to be regular folk without having anything special in their voices. Even if she does not hurt her voice still there is 50% that she may or not. So far she was good in Jan 18th, 2014, at Phoenix, which is good sign of transition.
That's because we have mostly trash and head cases for our stars where others produce real talent. I'll never get over here at 9 years old and the gifts she has.
