One. The look on Archie's face when he realizes that Edith is the one playing the piano is priceless. Two I appreciate that it is actually Jean Stapleton playing the piano and not her faking it
Jean Stapleton was also a legitimate singer and made her debut with the New York City Opera in the 1980s, IIRC. I think she sang a modern opera about Julia Child, obviously not Madame Butterfly or anything like that.
I realized why All In the family was such an amazing and popular TV show, and still is!... it was how genuinely human and natural it was. Both in the impeccable writing and acting that was on a level all on its own!
Much appreciation for the videos. All In The Family was great television. Brings back memories as a young lad watching this together with my grandfather. He got a real kick watching it.😂
Marie Barone knows Archie Bunker!! Actually, Jean Stapleton and Doris Roberts were friends, and Jean made a guest appearance on one of the early Everybody Loves Raymond episodes (the funeral).
This was the first appearance of Harry the bartender, who was created specifically for this episode out of necessity. The storyline called for Edith to go to Kelcy's and not be recognized by anyone, and previous episodes had already established that she and Kelcy were well acquainted with one-another, and so a different bartender needed to be on-duty when Edith came in.
I love All In Family! I've been watching this since I was a little girl. I watch them over and over! They make laugh so much. I never get tired watching every episode. Even Norman Lear of all in family I'm a true fan for life. Aloha*Mahalo Denny Deanie Marzol😂
The Edith character was priceless. Just tell her she can't do something, and she's on it!
Edith is a gem!
Archie will forever be the King of Looks....that look on his face when he heard Edith singing 😂😂😂😂😂😂

@@wotan10950 She really got her start singing on Broadway, one of her best known roles being in Damn Yankees.
What a legendary character and woman! We could all learn so much from Edith!!!
REST IN BEAUTIFUL PEACE MR. NORMAN LEER.

I'm sooo glad that Archie caught Edith having a good time! It's about time he realized what gold he has in a wife!😅❤
Archie's facial expressions spoke volumes 😂😂😂
Doris Roberts as Marge
THANK YOU! It was bugging me that I knew her but I couldn't remember from where! 😅
@@Kaemea Same here...I was practically giving myself an aneurism trying to come up with her name.
Also Marie on Everybody Loves Raymond
The guy with Edith, Joe, played the gym teacher that punched John Travolta on Welcome Back Kotter
Archie can either take Edith out more himself, or face Edith being the life of the party at Kelsey's! Way to keep Archie in his toes!
facts

Yes, I was trying to figure out who she was, thanks!

Veal Scala pee pee 😂
that is my favorite part!
Really it’s veal scallopini. Yummy 😋
Sometimes you hate him, sometimes you love him, but there is only one Archie and his malaprops are superbly delivered?
That better not be a question, And if it is, the answer is an emphatic YES! (I also like Rickyisms. 🇨🇦)
A young Doris Roberts plays Edith's friend.
Edith, you are a gem❤❤

Those were the days
Doris Roberts was great in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Edith rocks
Loved this scene!
Watch this Wed it was 👍👍 AITF GREAT 👍👍👍👍 SHOW TO 🙏🙏🙏🙏 GROW UP WITH
In a later episode Archie tries to get Joe to lie for him after he'd been with another woman.
Foley completely flaked out on Archie on that one.
❤❤❤
Archie always tries to ruin everyone's fun, Archie can sing though.
i assume that this same bar will be on archie bunkers place.
Correct, I think AB buys it a few seasons later
I THINK EDITH SINGS 🎵 BETTER THAN ARCHIE.
The woman in the bar is that Raymond mom in his show??
Is that Augustus's mother!?
That wasn't Jean stapleton's real voice at all. And she was a much more serious person in real life. Nothing at all like Edith Bunker.
Ho Chi Minh's mass-murder in North Vietnam in the 1950s was against landlords. Even Ken Burns showed this of Ho.
Ken Burns is a bigger Communist than Ho Chi Minh
It makes me sad how he treated her.
