@@Thegaminggang First session of two for Blade Runner was a huge success. Everyone enjoyed it. Even the player who’s character was killed. Combat is dangerous.
If I didn't live lost in the Amazon jungle, I'd want that Blade Runner pack - it'll never make it where I live! These starters are like finding an open briefcase in an airport - there's everything!
Great review. I would disagree that the world is misogynistic, however. Replicants are explicitly not treated as human, and most of the negative depictions we see involving males and females are happening to replicants, and not humans. Obviously there is a poor underclass of humans stuck on Earth too, and replicants place even below that group. Male and female replicants are both forced into narrow social roles to serve pre-defined purposes. Female replicants are designed for companionship, which means they are more empathetic and emotionally capable than their male counterparts. The male replicants, on the other hand, seem to have most of their empathy and emotion stripped away from them, are almost exclusively used for violence and labor. I don't think we would call the series misandrist because of how it depicts male replicants either. 2049 endorses empathy. Female replicants are the leaders of the liberation movement in 2049, while also embodying empathy and emotional capability. Joe learns and feels empathy for what is essentially a computer program, and it feels just a real to him as another replicant or human. It's about breaking down the arbitrary walls we put up to separate everyone, and breaking down not only what it means to be male, female, trans or w/e, but what even separates humans from the rest of the material world in the first place.
What's not to like Blade Runner world is amazing - thanks for a great review - of the starter set. Now i just need money & friends LOL I also hope they do more adentures as a little concerned they only got one adventure out at this time. Although a more recent release bing about 6 months ago.
I wonder if this Box Set is so nice that it would spoil the Players, you know? All of the cool Photos and Props... .... I sorta wish they would make more box sets of adventures with the same level of details. I would jump on that as a GM. Also, because sometimes investigations can be hard to set up constantly as a GM.
Free League has said they plan to do exactly that -- additional case files (adventures) with supporting physical props. It is the base standard for this RPG.
What do I get more, when I buy the core rulebook. This seems to wrap up all the rules and the setting is kind of generic I heard. So this might be the better deal of these two products
I actually gave the starter set a higher review score. If the Alien RPG is any indication, you should be able to play the upcoming chapters in the adventure campaign with only the Starter Set.
Mostly due to licensing I suspect, but it's amazing to me how little pc Blade Runner games there are and nothing recent. I hope these don't run into licensing issues, Blade Runner, BSG etc all have huge controls and hence little official content, such as waste.
Honestly, I've been curious as to what's going on with Blade Runner too. I haven't heard anything through the grapevine about any upcoming releases after what was an excellent kickoff. ~ Jeff
@@Thegaminggang yes a little strange no more adventures in 6 months? You think they have had 2-3 to go before launch to release in timed schedules, the TV series Blade Runner isn’t until spring 2024 I wouldn’t think that hold it up, if it launched late 2022 and we don’t get more soon a year will have passed with just one starter adventure- I’m not gonna think of purchase until there at lot more A I thought there website was very basic and didn’t offer any more hope either. We shall see - but thanks for all the great reviews.
I will mention that many of the Free League websites dedicated to specific games are a bit lackluster. You'll normally find more updated information and news in the blog portion of the main site. ` Jeff
I just realized the PK-D gun 17:30 is named after Phillip K Dick (Author of original novel)
Thank you for the review. I received my Kickstarter copies last week. I am now looking forward to playing it.
Hope you enjoy it!
I’m running this case this weekend. Can’t wait.
Have a great time!

the artwork is gorgeous.
Really nice page through Jeff. Fria Ligan really do fill their starter sets with awesome stuff.

Awesome. Thanks for the breakdown. Seems like it's worth a pick up

Thanks for the review. A neat concept for an RPG, and wow, quite a bit of content.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Super good review, merci!
Glad it was helpful!
