I agree; do it right or don't do it. no Earth, unless you're starting with Marlana leaving in a rocket getting lost, crashing and being rescued from the wreckage by Randor. 🤔a mother's perspective on Prince Adam would be interesting. a sequel could have her flashback to home invasion and child abduction by Hordack.
@@JOHNN01.82 Yeah it does but they have done it with upcoming movie Dune, and I would argue that He-man has a much better story and potential to be a blockbuster in a fantasy/superhero market.

Proof that people want a live action He Man movies is the fact that 450k people, myself included, are willing to sit through an hour long video which only talks about movies that DIDN'T get made and why.
I'm just here to watch Hollywood burn. It's a perverse exercise where I end up coming to terms with the fact that the vast majority of big budget films run by these corporate whores are awful and it's only getting worse. It takes them 5 years and a load of lawyers to finally get a decent enough story that might work and then it gets thrown in the bin and completely rewritten again and again. There are exceptions of course but for fuck's sake.. get on with it! I am also available for He-Man themed children's parties.
More proof is people like me that are willing to sit through that video a second time to ensure it is indeed the video discussing a cancelled He-Man universe that I wanted to show a friend. Even once I confirmed this is the video I was talking about I’m sitting here putting my day on hold and watching it a second time.
That guy who starred in He-Man seems terminally ill He-Man is supposed to represent excessive strength in the service of good,.... and Keldor will be his brother????? They take masculinity away from He-Man ... And let me guess, SheRa will be a lesbian from another galaxy who steals the sword
He looks like the 80's version though. He's tall and can put on muscle.Look how huge Henry Cavall got for The Witcher and he was Noah Centeneo's size in that movie Immortals

oah man and what about when he transformed into that gold version calling himself a god, super kool back then, THEY SHOULD DIGITALY REMASTER IT LIKE THEY DID WITH STAR WARS...👍👍👍
This isn’t a knock on him, because he did do a great job, but that’s not a very high bar when it comes to that movie. Masters of the Universe could have been so much more.
ONE OF THE FIRST ANIMATORS ON THE CREDITS FROM THE CARTOONS FIRST SEASON JUST PASSED AWAY A MONTH OR SO AGO IN A TINY COMMUNITY IN WEST TEXAS AND NOBODY KNOWS ABOUT IT. "RICH TRUEBLOOD" RIP GOOD SIR
The closer you make it to the animated cartoon the more people will love it when you change things leave out original characters and try to bring it to earth it’s going to flop
As a kid I loved he man, but as I’ve aged he man is a little campy, kill orko never liked him and merge the comic and animated series the comic was so much better.
Exactly, the more true it is to the source material the more money the movie will make period. That was the downfall of the original live action movie. They brought it to earth because they simply did not have the budget they needed. But the low budget is why it turned out like it did. Although i still like that movie. It did not live up to my expectations as a kid who played with castle greyskull and watched the cartoons.
Crazy how it became such a difficult project to finally get going again, but the 80's version is a "Cult classic ", unfortunately they were limited to the actual characters they were allowed to use!, plus the budget wasn't really that much, but it has it's moments, looking forward to seeing this new version finally!, maybe if it does well we could get "Thunder-cats" or maybe even "Gargoyles " movie, be interesting to see what they decide to go for next, there's definitely an audience out there for this..just waiting very patiently 😉 🤞 (great work on this video)
2nd lesson they need to learn: Stop trying to put your individual political agendas in our damn fantasy movies! They are suppose to be an escape from all that crap!
You are all mistaken, you just cannot see the big picture; You don’t know what you want until they tell you. There is no “political ideology” supplemented in movies, it’s a reflection on societal norms and that society is your reality. This is the current year. If you see an “agenda” or some sort of bias in your media, there is something wrong with you. Perhaps you weren’t listening correctly, you clearly aren’t thinking correctly. Turn on, tune in and drop out, the MSM has your back! Or check over at Rotten Tomatoes. They have professional critics, working for the top studios and networks, offering honest and unbiased reviews. They will tell you how to feel. This is a renaissance of motion pictures! Occasionally, there will be an unhappy silly person (usually ugly) that labels a movie “a remake”, so negative! It takes thousands of people years and countless hours on computers to improve those OLD things. They are revitalizing these movies. We have the technology now to make them better! They were sorely lacking in effects (CGI). Those old “practical” effects are tired, and are -in fact, not practical at all. Once it is all digitized and given a healthy smattering of saturation, you will see how beautiful they are. And those scripts! Old! We don’t think that way anymore. The studios and networks have top people, experts with their thumbs on the pulse of society working tirelessly to revision these stories, to make them relevant in this current year. We cannot have anyone being offended by these old, antiquated ideas. We are better than that now. Now we can fix the misogynistic, racist, bigoted clearly broadcasted throughout ...with diversity casting. It is a step, (a very small one) in the correct direction. We will never be able to make up for all of the inequality though. Besides, the gender, (or lack there of) and race don’t matter. Most movies, (especially those for children) never establish the sexual orientation of the characters! The ones that do? Almost all of them are Cisgender!?! Children are so impressionable, they need to see the diversity and inclusion and have all the other genders and orientations represented. We know gender and race and sexual orientation are very important to everyone, so the story and casting must check all the boxes! We cannot exclude anyone. Of course, no one wants to see more caucasian men in movies, because that’s all we’ve ever had...and look where that got us! Now, we have to fix all these movies, because of the patriarchy. What a mess! With new and better effects, scripts that has been corrected to represent the diversity of today’s society and establish the sexual orientation of the characters within and have the offensive and wrong content edited out. They are giving the fans exactly what they want. Trust them.
"So, you have a sequel script for me?" "Yes Sir, I do, it's called 'Masters of the Universe: Requium'" "Masters of the Universe didn't do well, mostly because we strayed too far from the source material, replaced favourite characters with knock offs & changed the look of the ones they kept & set it mostly on Earth, isn't it going to be difficult to find a way to make sure the sequel will do better?" "Actually, it's going to be super easy, barely an inconvenience." "Oh, really?" "Yeah, we just set it on Earth again, make He-Man a Football player & Skeletor can be a Hollywood movie producer!" "Amazing!"
I love how Hollywood makes a bad movie and says "I guess nobody wants to see a fantasy film." That's your take away?! (How do I cover up my huge mistake?...I'll just say it's the audience's fault! They didn't want to see a fantasy film! ...Yeah, that's the ticket!)
Right, the same people who gave us star ward & ninja turtles couldn't pull off thunder cats, master of the universe but give us creepy remakes for decades now. lol
If He-Man has the light sword and Skeletor has the dark sword and this is canon... but She-Ra has the exact same sword as He-Man except it has a gem in it, also canon... If they ever throw in She-Ra we got to find out where the fourth sword is because it stands to reason there'd be a dark gem version. Also the idea of making Skeletor want to destroy magic makes about as much sense as having a Popeye movie where Popeye wants to destroy spinach.
nah its Hollywood... so it has to be original and darker... and they need to add a progressive agenda... maybe make He-man a black transgender woman who fights against Donald Trump to save Muslims from Eternia. sorry but the entertainment industry is dead they can't make anything anymore without shitting on it and its base material. they would 100% destroy it just like they have done to Star Wars. rather never see them touch anything good like He man
@@DrDeathpwnsu oh, yeah, make "dark" She-Ra a trans person. I'm sure the Hollywood clowns wouldn't $#!+ themselves if they saw a treatment where the trans person was a villain. Lol Oh, wait, they'd *lose their f♡€¥ing minds* !!! I can hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth from here! LMAO
@@shawnarthur5921 Of course... But the more I think about a potential fourth sword it would be more like... trying to turn a bug into a feature. Skeletor even having a sword was more depicted in the toys than in the cartoon if I recall, but either way, the dark sword is kind of uninteresting because it doesn't actually turn anyone into a super powered version of themselves that we've seen. It just all becomes plot holes on top of plot holes.
It's funny how complicated they make it. He-man has 2 seasons worth of material all they have to do is follow the story and make it realistic and they will have a great money making movie.
Agreed, except many of the episodes were childish (I'm thinking about the Orko épisodes, the Widgets episodes and the episodes with some annoying random child). But the rest of the episodes were indeed good.
Also, why did they hire MCG in the first place? This guy has destroyed the Terminator franchise by directing Salvation. He shouldn't have been allowed to direct another epic/partly sci-fi franchise like He-man. It seems to me that the only reason that he was hired in the first place was because of possible studios favoritism.
Soo many different writer's, script's, ideas, studios, producers and too many hands of all different stories dipped in that this movie sounds like it will never be made.
If they give us all the nostalgic and classic characters we all want and make it visually appealing it is still be a step up from the original even if they f*** it up

I've thought since Zemeckis' Beowulf that any He-Man film needed to be done with semi-realistic motion capture. I think this way you could not only capture the visual scope of the world and creatures without any separate blending elements between environments and characters, but you could also hire really interesting actors that might not have the look but would have the gravitas needed to make these somewhat larger-than-life characters come to life. Similar to how Ray Winstone, who really doesn't have the 'look' of Beowulf, but his dramatic flair added to dynamism of Beowulf.
I remember the animated 2002 TV version of the series and discovered that it had to be canceled after just two seasons. Contacted the company by e-mail asking them why and they said that money constraints were the issue; cost of production putting on air, delays, and so forth. I mentioned that the Justice League had successfully put it on DVD format to cut costs and had been successful in record sales but it was too late.

I was born in 83 so He-Man and She-Ra were my heroes. All these movie ideas seem terrible. The 80’s movie had some things right but they left out too many characters. Instead of trying to change so much from the 80’s cartoon and comics, they should use that. Keep the magic and the same story pretty much. If they can’t do that then leave it alone.
Omg finally finally someone who gets it!!! Filmations catchiness and light tone can obviously be brought to an adult version of the same feel without changing the magic! It’s amazing how many people can love something and not have the first clue as to why they actually love it. You’re awesome man.
Because He Man's masculinity and impressive musculature are the only things that now Hollywood actors cannot achieve so they will rely on cgi and muscle suits.
I think Jason O'Mara could play He-Man. Or possibly Liam Hemsworth. Or Charlie Hunnam. Maybe Nathan Jones. Or why not Sam Worthington? Travis Fimmel? Kind of depends on what age they're making He-Man. I imagine they're making him look sub-30. I think, Jon Call (Jujimufu), Jeff Nippard, and Marcus Follin (the Golden One) all have good physiques for playing He-Man but I don't know if they can act and the last mentioned guy is very open with his political opinions which wouldn't fly in Hollywood.
Speaking for myself, I DON'T CARE about the script. It HAS to be in Eternia! The characters HAVE to look something CLOSE to the figures! I DON''T CARE if they are completely CGI. I HAVE to see THEM fighting and doing the things I did playing with them. There HAS to be the playset's seen. Leave out Hordak and all from him forward and stick to the originals before him. Save him and his clan for part 2. Don't need all that for the first. They are putting too much emphasis on this and should be simple. Give us Eternia. Give us something as close to the figures as possible. Let them fight, show us the surroundings as close as possible, let us SEE them flying in the Wind Raider, driving Battle Ram and Attak Trak. We get anything like that and every father that played with these WILL have their sons and daughters in the theater. Multiple times. There is NOT a one of us that fell in love with this line, these character and toys because of any script. We didn't take them off the cards and have a script telling us what they was going to do or say. We made our own script. All we've had for this is that atrocious attempt years ago. That wasn't the actors fault. It wasn't even the writers fault. Other than putting it on earth. Nothing about that movie was what we played with. The outfits, short of Skeletor and He-Man was NOT what we played with. We don't love these for what they are going to be, we love them because of what they WAS! What they was, was an escape. They was a way for us to use OUR imaginations. A way for us to let them do anything we wanted them to. We just need to see THEM moving. THEM breathing. Hear THEM talking. They can bake cakes for 3 hours and I'll go watch as long as I get to see THEM! It's simple. We don't need Titanic. We don't need Dances with wolves. We don't need Shakespeare.
@@chaseroush6503 For sure. That would do it. Or they can play songs 5 and 6 from music card 1 of a Yamaha TYU-40 on repeat throughout for all I care. LOL If it started out black screen with the Filmation sounds completed, then bring up the vintage "Filmation" logo in color letter by letter, start the theme song as they are taking off one letter at a time. Then keep the screen black with the theme lightened down, let us hear a loud "I HAVE THE POWER" right into a Battle Cat growl and the sword moving upward, starting to lighten up the screen while scrolling down to a fully lit living, breathing, He-Man setting on a living , breathing, Battle Cat, there would be roofs coming off theaters. If fans can just see what they held in their hands, completely capturing their imaginations so many years ago, walking, talking and breathing there would be grown men around the world coming out of theaters crying harder than a 2019 3 year old leaving Wal Mart without whatever piece of junk toy they are carrying these days. Give us Kevin Smith and his heart directing this and get the characters as close to the toys as possible and let us see this.
This is why we get crappy movies with no replay value. When content doesn't matter and you just want "eye-candy" on the big screen, it ends up with a crappy Transformers-like movie (they all sucked hard aside from the first one) or any of the X-Men movies. X-Men is my "He-Man." I've wanted nothing more than to see my favorite characters on the big screen since I was 10yo but FOX and Bryan Singer screwed that up royally. Script is important and a few of these writers just seem like they want to remake the story in their vision, something that provides great revenue for both Mattel and the studio in merchandise/toy sales and not something that actual fans will want to see and universally enjoy (old and new fans). However, I think the real problem falls more on the studios that keep picking up this property and then they don't allow the directors or producers to create the vision that's been written on the page. ... and trust me, with superhero movies as big as they are right now, you need a great script or else you will end up with a low budget B-rated version of this movie (like both Power Rangers movies) and that is not what fans want to see.
I admire your passion and share your love for the original He-man/universe. The 80s has a wealth of great source materials from cartoons and toylines to make into big blockbuster Hollywood movies if done correctly. Now if only I had one hundred million pounds lying behind the sofa I'd finance this project and support our dreams.
@@tonyholguin832 You are confusing films with movies. Films are a more in depth look at life. Movies are a release from life. Both based, like all forms of art, on life. What you are talking about is a mixture of realism with fantasy. I, like most of the fans of this line, want to be taken back. Which is what toys do, or whatever it was when times was more "simple". It's why the influx on old toys is so high now. None of us true fans of anything such as this, expect to see reality with this. We want to see what we used to use to pass the time with and let our imaginations loose with just being, and don't care if it is explaining the universe. I'll go watch a documentary for that. I want to see what I had to make myself be. Not all movies has to be a cinematic masterpiece. Anything like this falls into that category of just needs to be seen. The real problem with movies this day and age is the companies making them. They lack the imagination to put out anything new, but have the money to put out anything that will make them a profit. The people with any real imagination can't afford to put out anything decent. It's not like it used to be. Now everyone is so spoiled, they have to have everything perfect or it sucks. That is the real reason you won't see a Texas CM, original Friday the 13th, Star Wars or any low budget made movie that is worth mentioning. Because people are too spoiled now. Star Wars has how much money spent on it and they are still bringing back people that died to make a halfway decent story line. None of which will EVER be included with the original 3, no matter how much money is spent on them. I never got into the X-men or Transformers myself as a kid. I can however watch any of those movies now, in or out of sequence one after the other at any given time. I enjoyed each for what they where, not expecting Wolverine to make a presidential speech and knowing that Optimus isn't coming to save us anytime soon. I'd also rather pull up The Toxic Avenger or Alligator as watch pretty much anything that is put out these days. As far as that goes, like most older B-movies, the old knock off toys are for the most part, more desirable and more expensive now than the big name toy makers toys are. Movies are a release from reality. Nothing more, nothing less.
Absolutely NOT!!! Noah Centineo as HE-MAN?!?!?!? WORST CASTING EVER!!! I want a petition to cancel the film or change the casting AT ONCE! Who's with me?
It wasn't only Covid that killed the movie. Netflix marketshare dropped due to increased competition from other streaming services and for unfortunate decisions like "Cuties", so all of the sudden they're not willing to put up half the budget for a MOTU film. The excitement for this film dropped almost instantly when Noah Whoever was cast as the lead, so nobody has any confidence the film will succeed. Sony themselves said "this movie will be released March 2021 or not at all," so with less than a month to go, it's not at all.
@@RockandrollNegro Except it was revealed a few weeks back that development is back on so... Also Netflix broke through 200m subs in Q4 2020, so you're wrong on that too.

I would kill just to get to see that 3rd Arch for the '02 cartoon run. I was so pissed as a young teen watching that as it aired and heard of the cancellation at the peak of the story.
@@aaronrus It's almost as bad as conventional anime. You get a great start in season 1. Then season 2 builds up to complete an arch and then you're left hanging on to hopes of a season 3 in some kind of disappointed agony/expectation of awesomeness Limbo for the rest of your life.
I would kill just to see them have been able to develop Teela and Adam into the canonical battle couple they are meant to be. After the snake man season - to continue in a grudge war; they could have gone harder into it, to show Adam having to make harder choices, to learn what it'd take to become King. Have his father call him in on the war room talks as heir apparent. Have Teela learn that her mother and father are trapped in an I love you, but I can't be with you style relationship that might as well be a long distance marriage (and yeah, I think it's Man At Arms, not Fisto) Have her come close to learning Adam's secret or actually be let in on it, when he realizes with her burgeoning powers as the Sorceress next in line, she can more than take care of herself (She is the witch to his warrior, which mimics the Greyskull/OG Sorceress relationship like a mirror) Maybe have them grow to decide on being a romantic couple definitely, but not quite get to the engaged/married part. So the audience would have something to look forward to if they ever want to do another version of the series, to continue the best known canon. (It would also allow potential for He-Ro to be their son, rather than canonically Adora's - that part never made sense to me... unless they're going to do the REALLY old school "I'll lose my powers if we actually get some... so thank you for marrying me; but it's a good thing you've got that big metal belt on honey") Would also love to see either Silverhawks (not butchered like Michael Bay) or Thundercats live action (CGI can be mixed if necessary) just as long as it doesn't have "roar" in the title. Who doesn't want to see Monstarr? (Michael Ironside could play the chief, that'd be awesome - and if they do Thundercats within the next maybe 4 years, they could get the actor that played Onemaus from Spartacus series as Panthro. Just a thought. It'd be fun to see Emanuelle Chiquri - I know I butchered that name - play Cheetara. She already did it once. Get James Marsden to play Tigra, no... wait; Lion-O. That way they can stick with his habit of playing "lead" male characters who still get dumped ; )
Wow! As a life long He-Man fan I must say, well done sir! You've done your homework and I learned a couple things I didn't even know. I have been following MOTU my whole life and I want my kids to experience the thrill of seeing a live action Adam/He-Man. They're all teens now, but we've bonded over the old cartoons forever. I am SUCH a big fan in fact, that my mother was in the Air Force and worked on base, in Van Nuys California, with the creator. He made me a personal lithograph of He-Man and hand wrote a message on it for me. He also gave me a castle greyskull and snake mountain as a gift. Unfortunately, just 10 years later, my mom fell on hard times and lost a storage unit that it all was stored in. I have spent the last 15 years trying to find that piece of art, much to my dismay. When the news came out in April about Centenio being cast, my kids and I had a good "hell yeah" moment. I seriously hope this film gets made and it's everything hard core fans like myself have come to expect. Great video!
Thanks for watching! To think that the signed lithograph is out there somewhere is maddening. Hope it finds it's way back to you, either way it's a wonderful memory!
That's exactly what I thought. It sounded so very epic! They could have split it into 2 or even 3 movies and made a killing while still keeping their precious release date and at a somewhat lower cost. But that's Hollywood for you - they've lost their spine in the last decade or two, refusing to gamble on risks. Instead, they only want to invest in safe bets, which is why we see so many lame reboots, remakes and retakes on safe properties.
My parents still have my old He Man figures. I remember getting them in my Easter basket in the late 80s and I was always bummed that my brother got He Man and the battle cat while I got Adam and the cowardly lion. But boy does that take me back.
Gotta admire the old He-man action figures - they were miles ahead of any other toy in the 80's .... The Power of Grayskull documentary is brilliant and worth watching ... it is a pity that they just couldn't do any feature films that could do justice to the original toyline and the original animated series ...
DC comics and Funko did a small run of Batman action figures recently that were HEAVILY influenced by MOTU. They are pretty fn sweet if you ever get a chance look them up.
It should never been cancelled. But then again, why I cut out TV at this point, anything I enjoyed kept getting cut short. So now I don't bother. I still re-watch that 2000 version for inspiration.
I loved the live action He-Man movie. I just wish they stayed on Eternia and introduced more characters, but I realize cost and logistics played a big role in that. However, I feel Frank Langella desired an award for his role as Skeletor. I mean he was freaking awesome. His voice alone was amazing. And let's not forget Meg Foster as Evil-Lyn. I think that kellan lutz guy would make a better he-man than noah centineo. That would be pretty big miscasting in my opinion if they go through with it.
Jay Karhunen neither actors should be playing He-man. The only ones that should be playing the role of He-Man are bodybuilders or someone that has that kind of physic. He-Man was created to look like this freaking muscle head man just look at the toys. From the women and men having some extraordinary physics and not no wimpy males or female's. If they can't give us a movie were the actors look like the toys, then they can just shove thier new movie up their asses.
The 'Noah' guy...he doesnt have the look, the face, the body type or anything to be playing He-Man....out of so many other capable actors out there....that really sucks!
Hope they can get this film together. Loved seeing Frank Langella , because he gave an oscar worthy performance as Skelator in the original film. This is a rich story and his performance hinted at how much material there is in this franchise if they keep it based in Eternia.
Was scrolling through to see if anyone else picked that up. Also the Supervoid has used music from The Mysterious Cities of Gold in various places throughout the vid. Classic series.
I would have rather had the He- man movie over the Eragon movie and I'm not in the He- man fandom. The Eragon books, absolutely phenomenal. The movie, REEEEEEEE
@@purplewombatsandpinkjellybeans Ok, most of the plot is stoled from Star Wars, while the setting and elf lore from Tolkien. The writing is really clumsy, stopping to describe useless details and having entire chapters with no point. Eragon himself is a Gary Stue, whose character development and personality jump all over the place.
@@SpedeVesku The elf lore I definitely do see parallels, but almost every fantasy book, movie, game, etc, have similar elf lore. As for the plot being stolen from star wars, I personally don't see it. Would you be willing to give me an example? I could have just not realized it. I also thought the writing was pretty good, especially considering he was like 16 when he started writing the series. Not as much "useless" as it is interesting. Character development definitely could have been improved though but again, not terrible writing. EDIT: I just read a comparison which highlighted the main similarities and differences between The Inheritance Cycle and Star wars. It was stated the Paolini did take some inspiration from Star Wars, but he took the effort to make it different. It does not "steal" the plot, in my opinion. It's mostly character parallels and the fact that both have a similar Empire. But the empire thing is used in so many stories: Hunger Games, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Divergent, and the list goes on. Even in the real world. It's a very common theme, my dude.
@@SpedeVesku Okay, so I didn't know what a "Gary Stue" was and had to look it up. So now knowing the meaning, Paolini definitely did not make Eragon overpowered or perfect. He had flaws and had the crap kicked out of him multiple times. This is another thing that I might just need an example on if you're willing to provide.
Oh yes! I love He-Man. I ran home from school everyday to catch it on tv. I pucked up the complete series on DVD for my kids. I just noticed that they have The Never Ending Story music in the He-Man movie commercial.
I don't understand why they have to change core elements. That only disappoints the fans and ruin it. Take the 2002 Cartoon series and build a movie around it. The story was very well elaborated and interesting. Make it a Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings meets Star Wars kind of epic movie, don't push any sjw agenda in and cast some good actors. Take it seriously and read what true fans love to see and you will have the next franchise with many opportunities. I don't get it why nobody in the high places sees the potential... A whole generation loved He-Man. All of them are now desperately waiting for their childhood hero to return with a more adult but still nostalgic turn...
The 2002 show was a failure. The stories lacked heart even though the animation and action were better. That show got cancelled before it ever took off or gained half as big a following as the 80s show.
@@Nepthu The show was canceled because the toys didn't sell well, the only reason the show was ordered was to promote the toys. I think the show was pretty much loved by fans and they were sad that Matell canceled it. I don't see where the story lacked heart though. They stayed true to the original bible of the show and gave the characters more depth as well as the background story and the origin... I enjoyed it very much and think it had a more adult tone. It was more serious... But well, that's only my opinion.
I agree....as much as i grew up on the 80s original and will forever loved it as an 80s He Man fan,i rather the story line of the 2005 version...and they did stay true to the animations of the original 80s version too...i think for a movie, they should go with that story line or even something as close it.
@DC Williams You don't know what the abbreviation SJW stands for? It is short for Social Justice Warrior... I am not American and English is only my second language so I assumed it was an established abbreviation and people knew what it means. I apologize
Apparently, one is scheduled to release March of 2021. I'm not sure I'm on board with the guy they cast to play him, though. Some kid named Noah Centineo. While it's possible to bulk up a bit to play him, he doesn't look like the character at all. I'll gladly watch the film, but, unless they do an overwhelmingly better job casting the rest of the characters, I don't think it will be that good. It makes me even more nervous knowing that Hollywood will forcibly shoehorn a lot of really stupid P.C culture motivated shit into it. Not gonna get my hopes up because nowadays it's not entirely out of the realm of reality for the powers-that-be to come to the asinine decision to make He-Man a transgender and become She-Ra at the end of the film lol 3:20 On an unrelated note, I take it we're all just gonna ignore that they used the Neverending Story theme song to promote the release of the movie? LOL
I never got into He-Man as an '80s '90s kid but I recognize how important it is to so many human beings on this earth right now so I hope that this movie does end up release and I hope it does phenomenally well just for that fact, it deserves it
The He-man movie was disappointing at first i must admit, but over the years it kinda grew on me a little but that re-make late 80's reboot was horrible !!! BUT they found redemption in the 2002 re-make and was cancelled wayyyyyyyy too soon. We should have gotten a 3rd and 4th season of the 2002 series.
I liked the 87 live action movie, they did the best they could with what limited budget they had. The 90's New Adventures AKA He-Man in space was ok but I hated the goofy Skeletor, the 2002 series to me sucked as I found it boring. Also King Hiss defeating Skeletor in the last episode angered me as the final showdown should have been He-Man vs. Skeletor. The new She Ra series is too kiddie. When I heard Kevin Smith was doing a New He-Man series I got excited thinking "finally a guy that gets it". I hope the new live action movie is going to be better than I expect it to be, the casting of He-Man is all wrong for the part.
@@philipdefibaugh7127 Canon was a shitty company. They stole money allocated for other films. If we had a better company making the movie we would have had a better 87 MOTU movie which is upsetting because everyone wanted it to do well.
@@philipdefibaugh7127 A limited budget? Are you kidding me? The production budget was 22 millions dollars, which was huge for a scifi movie of this era (the 1980s), by comparison, Robocop (1987) had only a 13 millions dollars production budget.
@@leonardeuler9592 ok fine, big budget. Well I liked it (not loved it), nowhere near as good as the Filmation show. I hope this kid that washired to play He-Man has a convincing musclesuit. I hope I am wrong and actually like the new movie.
@@philipdefibaugh7127 Yes, I guess that He-man will be CGI or in a muscle suit in the new movie, which I don't like too. Yet, I'm waiting for the synopsis, the rest of the cast and the trailers before making my own opinion about this new He-man movie.
The He-man movie was only bad because they left off too many of the original cartoon characters. Langella was an awesome Skeletor. Hopefully if they ever come out with a new movie they cast Chris Hemsworth as He-man. Nice vid btw. Lots of info
This is a very passionate piece/Doc. He man is so hard to do because it's one of those things that was, mostly our imagination. The cartoon and movie did it no justice, even though I loved both. The toys sparked our imagination as far as the world they're from and the more dark gritty, powerful feel they had. I always have imagined the He-Man world and it's characters as like a Frazetta painting mixed with the 90's X-Men cartoon.
He-Man disguised as a quarterback and Skeletor disguised as a Hollywood producer... I'm kind of glad this got cancelled...but why does part of me wish it existed?
Thanks for putting this all together and it answered several questions I had. Being in my 40's, MotU were my favorite toys and I will see this movie in the theaters, no matter what, at least once. However, what I hope is that it's so well done, I'll feel the need to drag friends and family to it over and over. In my opinion, that defines the difference between a good movie and an epic one.
Excellent job on this project! You do a fantastic job of making your backstories from every project come alive! I admire your dedication to each project and how you take the time and care to share as many details as possible with us! I love He-man and I certainly hope that we will get to see a new live action movie soon! Here’s hoping that it becomes something that will be worth the wait!
I gave my kids my old he man figures. They've been playing with them for weeks. Actually, months. I even bought new rubber bands and fixed the legs on 4 of the figures that had broken due to being nearly 40 years old. They beg me every day to watch another episode from the original series. Sometimes good is just good. We've got new iterations of space invaders and pac man in arcades. I don't envy someone trying to make this movie. The battle between who's got the money and who wants what type of take on it: gritty versus humor and nostalgia. It would be a tough balance. I walk down the toy aisle today, and unless it's a lego product based on a movie, you're out of luck. Look at the characters! They're awesome. Each one is unique and inventive- that's what made playing with them fun. They trigger the imagination. My kids love the original small comics. No characters get killed off in them. Kill Tri-Klops? Are you serious? I liked the idea of a tone similar to Thor: Ragnarok - but will that tone work? We've had so many iterations of Batman. Some good, some bad. Somebody will just have to take a swing at a He-Man movie.
Biggest mistake was making a he-man movie based around earth, just make it a fantasy conanesque movie in his home land.
That costs alot of money creating a world setting
I agree; do it right or don't do it. no Earth, unless you're starting with Marlana leaving in a rocket getting lost, crashing and being rescued from the wreckage by Randor. 🤔a mother's perspective on Prince Adam would be interesting. a sequel could have her flashback to home invasion and child abduction by Hordack.
@@JOHNN01.82 Yeah it does but they have done it with upcoming movie Dune, and I would argue that He-man has a much better story and potential to be a blockbuster in a fantasy/superhero market.

It takes them 5 years and a load of lawyers to finally get a decent enough story that might work and then it gets thrown in the bin and completely rewritten again and again. There are exceptions of course but for fuck's sake.. get on with it!

18:34 This story sounds like JOHNNY BLACKSTAR, an animated TV series from late 70's. Why not make that into a movie.
I audibly groaned when I saw Noah Centineo cast as Adam. Terrible decision there.
That guy who starred in He-Man seems terminally ill
He-Man is supposed to represent excessive strength in the service of good,.... and Keldor will be his brother?????
They take masculinity away from He-Man ...

Bringing it to Earth just feels like a low budget move that feels like they don't have faith in the movie
Definitely the best comment here 👍
As a kid I loved he man, but as I’ve aged he man is a little campy, kill orko never liked him and merge the comic and animated series the comic was so much better.
Seriously, they can't seem to wrap their brains around that? Seems like it so simple... SMH.
The original concept for Greyskull sounded PERFECT! Why the fuck did they rewrite it into that garbage?
Crazy how it became such a difficult project to finally get going again, but the 80's version is a "Cult classic ", unfortunately they were limited to the actual characters they were allowed to use!, plus the budget wasn't really that much, but it has it's moments, looking forward to seeing this new version finally!, maybe if it does well we could get "Thunder-cats" or maybe even "Gargoyles " movie, be interesting to see what they decide to go for next, there's definitely an audience out there for this..just waiting very patiently 😉 🤞 (great work on this video)
Studios and producers need to learn a massive lesson from Deadpool.
Give the fans exactly what they want and laugh all the way to the bank.
Exactly but these idiots just keep screwing over the fans
If only they would learn this lesson 😪
2nd lesson they need to learn: Stop trying to put your individual political agendas in our damn fantasy movies! They are suppose to be an escape from all that crap!
You are all mistaken, you just cannot see the big picture;
You don’t know what you want until they tell you.
Now we can fix the misogynistic, racist, bigoted clearly broadcasted throughout
...with diversity casting.
Trust them.

I am strong to the finach coz i wield my sword, i am HE-Man the sword wielding man wield wield.
doesn't rhyme but you can sing it to Popeye song
nah its Hollywood... so it has to be original and darker... and they need to add a progressive agenda... maybe make He-man a black transgender woman who fights against Donald Trump to save Muslims from Eternia. sorry but the entertainment industry is dead they can't make anything anymore without shitting on it and its base material. they would 100% destroy it just like they have done to Star Wars. rather never see them touch anything good like He man

Exactly.

🤣🤣🤣 very good.
I saw Rossio do a talk in Vancouver and when he was showing us his writing process he was using his MOTU script. I could actually read the opening image where it's of the studio logo growing over with vines.

I would kill just to get to see that 3rd Arch for the '02 cartoon run. I was so pissed as a young teen watching that as it aired and heard of the cancellation at the peak of the story.
Agreed. 200x was awesome. Fucking terrible mistake for them to end it.
@@aaronrus It's almost as bad as conventional anime. You get a great start in season 1. Then season 2 builds up to complete an arch and then you're left hanging on to hopes of a season 3 in some kind of disappointed agony/expectation of awesomeness Limbo for the rest of your life.
They were about to develop Fisto. Shame they cancelled it
@@SirWickMusic 😔 My God....all the wasted potential for next level memes.
(It would also allow potential for He-Ro to be their son, rather than canonically Adora's - that part never made sense to me... unless they're going to do the REALLY old school "I'll lose my powers if we actually get some... so thank you for marrying me; but it's a good thing you've got that big metal belt on honey")
Would also love to see either Silverhawks (not butchered like Michael Bay) or Thundercats live action (CGI can be mixed if necessary) just as long as it doesn't have "roar" in the title.
"Drawing inspiration from...", fails to mention Conan The Barbarian, so they don't get a lawsuit
They mentioned the artwork of Frazetta, who painted Conan a lot. And they did end up facing that lawsuit anyway, which Mattel won.
Its a bummer. Watching this now in Aug of 2021, a follow up to this video will need to be made since the 2021 movie was never made either.
The whole reason we don't have a He-man movie is several studio's want to ruin it by not being true to the characters.
I liked these comics that came with the action figures. They were far more violent than the TV show.
If a Goyers vision for Masters of the universe wont be made. Sony is full of cowards.
Didn't sony also make the disastrous ghostbusters 2016? Nuff said right there.

The Early 2000's Reboot Series was very good.
It should never been cancelled. But then again, why I cut out TV at this point, anything I enjoyed kept getting cut short. So now I don't bother. I still re-watch that 2000 version for inspiration.

Jay Karhunen neither actors should be playing He-man. The only ones that should be playing the role of He-Man are bodybuilders or someone that has that kind of physic. @@SpedeVesku Fight me
@@purplewombatsandpinkjellybeans Ok, most of the plot is stoled from Star Wars, while the setting and elf lore from Tolkien.
I wish people would get off the whole Keldor thing. Skeletor was MUCH more interesting before he had an origin.
No money men seem to trust the source material for modern kids, sadly.
Not gonna get my hopes up because nowadays it's not entirely out of the realm of reality for the powers-that-be to come to the asinine decision to make He-Man a transgender and become She-Ra at the end of the film lol

The reason why the one movie didnt even get off the ground was because it was simply mentioned to Ruin Johnson and the project committed suicide.
we want an He-Man Movie asap!
