Traveling in Japan is an assault on the senses, no doubt about it. After exploring some of Japan's most interesting (and crazy) cities for the past week, it was time to get out of the city and travel to the other side of Japan, the beautiful mountains around Hakone. This area is famous for its views over Mount Fuji, and its Onsen's (Japanese natural hot baths) and of course it would be rude not to try these. There is a problem however, if you have tattoos you are allowed to enter the Japanese public baths, we both have sleeves... This is the real, traditional Japan, the one we all see on postcards and we've dreamt of since arriving 🇯🇵

Epic, loved the ferry boats made up like old sailing ships. Really, we have so much to learn from the Japanese way of life, and Mount Fuji is truly sacred. Wonderful video 🤗🤗🐶👍❤️❤️

If you are lucky enough to see a view of Mount Fuji like that it's likely during the winter months. The winter months are also best for hot springs. Double win!

I do love it when you both get lost and things don't go to plan travelling the world, I think you have changed to doing documentary type of programme but I still love to watch the youtubers on an adventure getting themselves into situations that are not planned for however I love you both and will keep watching your videos. I don't need to watch TV anymore when I have all my favourite vloggers out there who travel and everyone is different but just love the unplanned stuff you did in the past...it was exciting and like real life....good luck love Japan !!!
Japan was definitely different for us in terms of filming as we were invited to join the group tour, which wasn’t something we did before , but it was a nice experience 😊 I don’t think we will ever stick to one type of filming and editing, because we enjoy experimenting and trying different ways of doing everything ❤️

WOW you had such a great view of Mt Fuji. I only saw part of it. I loved the ferry even before you said anything about Jack Sparrow. I thought the look of a tall ship was awesome. This has been such a great tour and your video is fantastic. Thank you.

Ah, you did the most famous/popular Japan expat foreigner tour. Did that same exact train/pirateboat/cable car ride from Tokyo to Hakone quite a few times - whenever family came to visit. Brings back great memories! Knew you would love it.

Hahahaha, you know what’s funny! I was editing this video in a cafe, and when I was scrolling through the footage and got the the hot baths, I literally jumped up haha! Thankfully there was no one around and I didn’t traumatised anyone 😂

I feel so utterly lucky that I get to live vicariously through you - the time you are having is the time I could only dream of and it feels like I actually got to have it and my world is wider for it! I am frankly surprised to learn that in this day and age, tattoos are still looked upon with suspicion, like the headcount in the public baths seems like it would be but a fraction of those who would require private baths, but maybe I just don't know enough and that the larger proportion of Japanese people are not tattooed. I was listening to a piece on NPR today (National Public Radio) about how there is going to be a casino opening up in or near Osaka and what percentage of the Japanese population opposes it. It makes me think of what a rare opportunity it could have been for you to see a private Japan, and if I never do get to see it for myself, I am forever grateful that you did, and that you have shared it.

I think the reason Mt Fuji looks surreal is because it rises above the clouds so it doesn't seem connected to the land below it. It's also so idyllic it looks more familiar in a painting than in real life.

Thank you so much for visiting to Japan and taking interesting video. If you have the chance to visit the Tohoku region, I recommend visiting Mt. Zao in Yamagata Prefecture as your next option. There is a large lake in the crater of a gigantic volcano, and the city is a hot spring area that gushes out from the source of the volcano, and in winter it is a large ski resort. In addition, Genghis Khan, ramen, imoni, soba and ball konnyaku are also famous. There are nice hotels and ryokans too surrounded by great nature. If you'd like.

I was playing around with my new smart TV the other day, trying to work out all the controls and features, and I came upon an old episode of The Great British Bake Off (it was from about six years ago). We were told that apparently some people can also cover their tattoos and be okay…however, you can see where we would have a problem with that 😅

To be fair, I wouldn't describe Hakone as an " onsen capitol " ... nothing that I've experienced rivals Beppu ... the hot spring water literally bubbles up from the drainage system at high tide.

You need to increase the microphone volume levels, I really struggled to hear both of you especially Julia.

What a fantastic experience. Is the wearing of masks still being mandated or is that just a social convention for groups or public transport?
So we were there in February and it was a little confusing. It wasn’t mandatory but recommended, everyone seemed to wear them everywhere, especially inside. I can’t wear a mask, so I didn’t, and nobody seemed to mind.
