Hi Rob! I'm new here I've been watching for 2 months now I enjoy what you do alot. I feel like you would very much like to talk about the lyrics to the song 'beneath the surface' by as blood runs black. Not only is the song great but the lyrics are very power to me personally. Thank you for the entertainment!
It really makes his sacrifice so much more impactful when you realize all he needed was one word, and the course of history would forever be changed. But instead Jesus went willingly. Over 12 legions of angels would answer that call it is said, which is around 72000 angels if we take the roman legions as reference. Just one angel is said to have killed over 185000 people overnight, that's cold.
As a believer in Christ, I don't know how anyone can get through this whole song (especially Verse 4) without tears coming to their eyes. This song is so powerful and more biblically sound than most sermons. I can imagine God smiling the very first time this song was ever played and thinking to Himself "they have described Me almost perfectly."
My favorite line is "I am the Word who spoke no word, with a thousand angels waiting for my call." He, the Word of Life, was SILENT, even to the point of DEATH, when he could so easily have saved himself from death on the cross.
This song makes me want to run through a wall for Jesus. I just recently found out about about this band and became an instant fan. Great reaction guys!
I heard they're making a new album this year I'm hyped one of my favorite progressive metal bands in my favorite power metal band and my favorite Christian metal band aside from tourniquet
Yes! Finally haha. So many good Theocracy songs, but Laying the Demon to Rest or Mirror of Souls are also essentials. Theocracy's "I AM" is a work of art. Purely and simply, the song glorifies God, Jesus, and The Spirit. By the end of the song you are ready to cry from the euphoria of praise that comes out of this song. Matt Smith of Theocracy is clearly in love with the Lord.
@@jeandavidnau8314 That's right, it is for me a place where I always reconnect with God by taking into account his attributes. I truly believe that someone speaks this way about Jesus only when he knows him both theologically and in person.
Yup. Laying the Demon to Rest is such a great song. For someone who doesn't care much it's just a cool song about dude fighting some fantasy demons, for more thoughtful secular people it may be a song about a person fighting his inner demons. For Christians, it's everyday life. Fighting the Accuser and his minions, running out of strength every time and having to call out to Heavenly Father, in desperation for much needed help. And Him lifting us up, healing us and us getting back to the fight.
@@lenxbot777z5 Jesus is the I Am, he is the manifestation of God and a lot of verses in the bible is saying that also. Jesus claimed to be the manifestation of the invisible God thats why the pharises try to stone Him. He said before abrahan He is the I Am. read your bible.
Not a Christian in any sense of the word or meaning, but damn this is one of the best power metal songs I’ve ever heard. I didn’t understand a lot of the references, but like he said, never a dull moment.
The first time I heard this song I was too overwhelmed by it to take it in. The second time I heard this song I was overwhelmed with emotion as it hit so truthfully. God is Good!
The words are a lot. Every phrase brings strong emotion. And there are a lot. But the entire work brings a sense of peace. I Am has walked the path before us and given us the tools to walk in his footsteps. I Am has taken all of the burdens that we don't have to carry. The length of the song is a bit off-putting and there are a few questionable time changes, but solid overall.
Matt Smith (Theocracy's lead singer not the 11th Doctor) is a master mixer. This dude knows how to chart and harmonize like nobody's business. You HAVE to listen to more of their stuff.
"I am" a big fan of Theocracy, but I loved even more being encouraged by your comments after with the clear explanation of the gospel and critique. This music is entertaining for those who like this "genre", and especially when it can provoke great conversations that center around the Godhead and salvation in Christ alone by faith alone. THEOCRACY is one of the greatest and most creative White metal bands. "I Am" is a song that seriously should be arranged for choirs (or choir and a very good soloist) to perform during Mass. I think that would make Matt proud.
Epic and awesome! Also the lyrics are the Truth.Certainly one of the best lyrics of any Christian songs ever written in human history and more biblical than many other well known Christian songs.
Fun fact! The core motif this song is built around is actually a direct reference to an instrumental break in their song, "New Jerusalem", from their debut album. I call it the "Heaven Motif" within the context of Theocracy's music haha. It's definitely the proggiest part about this band, given prog's roots in classical theory. But yeah, so glad you guys got around to this song! I've been listening to heavier stuff mostly in the most recent years but these guys were a HUGE part of formulating my music tastes. Matt is a literal genius, in my opinion, and this song proves that! You also really need to listen to "Mirror of Souls", "Twist of Fate", "Easter" and "And the Rest is Mystery" by Matt's charity supergroup, Project Aegis.
@blazebarnett91 Absolutely, and while they may not be technically a Christian band anymore, their roots definitely help further accentuate the greatness of the music. I've heard all of their albums since Esoteric Symbolism but I haven't heard their earlier albums yet.
I love Theocracy, and the introduction to the band has left quite an impact on me: the song "Mirror of Souls". If I had to classify my belief I would call it agnostic atheism. But I have a great interest in religion as a student of history, and have many friends with different religious backgrounds, though the majority of which are Christian. One of those friends introduced me to Theocracy through the song Mirror of Souls, and I have definitely felt a stronger understanding of my Christians friend's beliefs because of that song. Obviously it is amazing musically, but to me truly portrays a persons journey into Christianity. Hence the length of the song. The author truly did not take any shortcuts in order to get their message across, and it truly enjoyable to experience both the message and journey expressed in the song.
Great video. I love this song, especially when I’m feeling depressed or alone and broken. When I feel lost or the pain of loss is overwhelming me. This band is great. Laying the demon to rest is a must listen. That song can be applied to so many things but scripturally sounds like it’s adultery. I could be wrong, but it still sounds that way.

Beast of a song!!!!
JUST BEYOND INCREDIBLE!!!!
I heard this song from my brother-in-law and bought the record instantly upon hearing this 11 minutes of pure awesomeness. Bought the vinyl instantly.... worth it.
YAAAY you finally did one!! And a good song to react to as well.
Would love for you guys to do The Rest is Mystery by Project Aegis. Matt Smith from this band does the vocals, along with a few other awesome and legendary vocalists.
That song was outstanding! Never heard of these guys, but, now I'm a fan.
This my favourite record by them. Not one bad song on the entire record
I actually liked it. Didn’t expect that! I’d be really interested in your take on IAm by POD.
the noncensored version :D
I love this band, and this song! Keep up the good work you guys!
So glad yall reacted to this song. This was one of my favorite songs in high school (about 2014-2016)
Casting Crowns Scars in Heaven is a must listen. Will tug at the heartstrings for sure.
Finally! I love Theocracy. They're my go-to for scriptural sound lyrics. Nailed, Easter, Altar To The Unknown God, Mirror of Souls (my favorite, but it's 23 minutes long) are great.
BTW, Matt Smith is a genius. Check out his charity project, Project Aegis "And The Rest Is Mystery". Great vocal performances in that one.
This song is amazing!
