Man, this is fantastic! Kudos to the person who separated and laid out all the guitar tracks (both acoustic and electric) sequentially and along with the tune’s timeline.
The amount of production this song had for being almost 50 years old is insane, if you can listen to all the different tracks and layers I promise you’ll be amazed
4:21 Don Felder 4.49 Joe Walsh 5:16 Joe Walsh / Don Felder 5: 17 Don Felder 5:20 Joe Walsh 5:30 Together until end Interweaving of two great guitarists
Based on his sheer talent on guitar and perhaps also on his songwriting capabilities, Don Felder probably should not have been fired from The Eagles, I may tend to think. At the same time, Felder perhaps should not have basically challenged Henley and Frey at the time (the early 2000s decade) such as he did.
Why many seems to like this is the distinctive styles between Felder and Walsh separately and coming in harmony together at the end. Technical brilliance of Felder in his lead and Walsh's agressive and distinctive style with pull-offs and the effects he achieves. Few words can describe it however, for those who were not fully aware thought I'd post the timings I believe they come in at, see what you think.
Strange but with just the guitars, I wound up singing the song in lower tones and using different melodies. I was halfway through the song before I realised I was doing it. It's like the song becomes more 'depressing'? But I've always associated it with my old issues with alcoholism. But still, great guitars!
