This is actually misinformation. Her head size was changed between one of the earlier gameplay trailers and the launch of the game. There was no post-launch patches about Maria's head.
This game changed my mind BUT please remember, don't trust Konami and never preorder. Please please never preorder. They are still massive corps don't trust them.
Well, Konami IS one of if not THE worst asian Corpos. It's like the normies that Glaze The SH2 Remake forgot that Konami Ruined and destroyed every franchise they own. This remake Was an attempt at a money grab. And it has worked once. Lets see if it works twice.
@@TheRealJohnux It is frankly amazing that Master Duel is as free-to-play friendly as it is considering how *utterly predatory* Duel Link's monetization model is. So much other shit that Konami does is so utterly revolting it's disgusting how it's kept afloat by pachinko sales.
This shitty demake did not change my mind at all. People have just accepted the SH Homecoming style sloppa as the golden standard now, thanks to the corpos' 15 years of brainwashing the console peasants with similar reskinned OTS action movies. #FuckKonami, since 2005, and again since 2015.
the only thing I don't like about the remake is how they handled Pyramid Head, like, I get that it's more realistic that he's muscular and all, but what made him scary was him being "unrealistic", like, how can a figure that slim carry so much weight and still chase me? Also, they removed the scene where it looks like he's eating a** (the one before you have to "fight" him), which yes, sounds funny, but they made it look sexual for a reason. In the remake he's just standing there and throws away one of the enemies, which is WAY less impactful and, more importantly, meaningful. oh yeah, also the scene where Maria goes "ANYWAY?!", I think it was much better in the original, here it looks like they accidentally cut a part of the video, that's how abdrupt the scene is in the remake
Yeah, there were a few cutscenes that weren't as great in the original (or weren't there at all), but I didn't think it was that big of a deal. At least the scene with Maria behind bars was handled pretty well
@@OnlyWaifuYT To me, that, the changed/removed cut-scenes the changed character design, the changed dialogue, the visual changes to the world's theme/atmosphere and the resident evil style gameplay are a very big deal. Changing these things undermines the themes and story of the game in lieu of making it more toothless and inoffensive. Bloober sacrifices a lot of the games subtlety and depth either because an ignorant DEI consultant told them to or just general incompetence and narcissism on the developer's part. addendum: this isn't to say the game is entirely terrible, but it isn't what was promised, a faithful remaster of silent hill 2. "A faithful remaster", which was changed to a "remake for the modern audience™" which the Bloober CEO once again changed to " my romantic vision of silent hill 2" whatever that means. And while I get and respect that many of the changes they made don't really matter to you or doesn't feel like a big deal, it is to me. Silent hill, especially 2 and 3 are important to me on a personal level, so when I see corpos and ideologues cynically make changes to important details that undermine the intent of the original work it feels like an especially offensive form of vandalism.
True, I think back then, it was sort of his punishment/t0rture before he d1ed, then he came back with the same features for revenge or something, same as the nurses. I guess the franchise was long enough that it's already the 3rd generation are doing the modeling and directing?
I learned my lesson from the FF7 remake. That was the one remake of a game i genuinely cared about that fooled me completely. I was even coping hard in the comments defending it day and night from 'haters' (more like fans who saw through the bullshit from the start). But then Rebirth came out and it became clear to me that Nomura does not give a single fuck about the OG and its fans and just wanted to insert his own bullshit into a beloved hallmark of gaming that no one asked for. And im seeing very similar arguments being made in this games defense now. I won't be made to look like a fool for a second time. Especially with the added rumors of DEI wankers being involved, that's an automatic boycott from me.
@@OnlyWaifuYT I actually thought everything Maria related, ESPECIALLY the prison cell scene, were butchered the hardest. I already commented on that when the "story trailer" dropped, since it's essentially 1:1 copy of the old 2001 release trailer and starts with the scene, but the cinematography (lighting, framing, acting and behavior) were massively downgraded. And just like was the case with the notorious "HD" Collection 15 years ago, the new actor absolutely failed to capture the stark changes between the flirty tempress Maria and innocent, joyful Mary characters. Now she's just monotone throughout the whole scene, with James seemingly getting more annoyed to her than confused yet intrigued.
@@Onderonableit's a REMAKE, things will often be different in a remake! Different game engines, different cameras etc Please accept for what a game is. Giving them the exact same costumes would then sturn up new controversies as to why they did not go for something fresh or redo some stuff. It's incredibly stupid and shitty.
Although, my 1st silent hill was the origins where I got stuck to nurture the 4 dolls with some toy medicine cause I roamed every corner but nowhere clues to find on how to feed those 4 dolls
it's not about her being sexy in the original, it's about taking creative liberties for no reason when handling someone else's creation. more specifically in an era of entertainment where it happens so much that people are sick of it.
No one said they wanted Angela to be a sexy’ model, we just want her to look like how she looks in the original but you know updated graphics and she should look like she been through shit and a bit malnourished.
@ what that’s supposed to mean? But your right i not a fan since I have not played either of them but im just saying when i look at the original and the new one, she looks less traumatized in the new one then in the old one.
I think the new version is a better "game" the entire game feels more gamey then the old one. The old version was scarier and weirder and still holds up. It was more of an experience. Tldr both versions a great, but I can understand the complains sorta. She was supposed to be alluring and the general trend in aaa games atm is to tone down sexuality especially from women. This is an overreaction to that. But I can see the point give me hot chicks and guys with sixpacks galore.
But for real Ashley is literally as dressed as you could ever be she's weareing a dam turtleneck sweater why does why have to have a perfectly round face and head lmao
@@chandlerburse She looks like a tubby womans face was posted onto a skinny model, doesnt even look like the actress who played her either. Last i checked the actress has a pretty smooth jawline, not tubby cheeks and a rounder jawline. I even cross referenced this.
Local weirdo who has never seen a woman with a square jaw pretends it's a crime that a female character with an arc about sexual abuse isn't as attractive as he thinks she "should" be. more at 11.
@@saintkoro It’s a matter of principle-in every Western games or those developed with diversity consultants, it seems like it’s now taboo for women to be beautiful, slim, or sexy. If it’s just a character, then why make Alloy’s face round like a donut eater, different from the original? Why turn Mary Jane into “Square-faced Mary Jane”? Why change the ethnicity or sexuality of existing characters? This goes far beyond a simple game character; it’s an authoritarian imposition of a specific philosophy.
It's a modern version for modern gamers. They changed scenes to make them "their own", but kept the reference. James, Angela, Eddie, Laura and even Mary kept the same clothes but changed Maria's to a more "appropriate" version which is stupid considering what Maria represents. They turned the boss fights into versions of RE7. They added two new endings that don't add anything to the game and changed the 'UFO' ending to a boring version. To me it's just another case of 'The original is better'.
Maria's outfit was redesigned to be more in line with her original concept art and because her original outfit had a stupid as hell origin, it was literally made to copy Christina Aguilera's outfit she wore during that year's teen choice awards. The two new endings DO add something. One is an expansion of a previous ending and the other is 100% in line with something James would do. The UFO ending is not a "boring version", it's actually pretty damn clever
I haven't played the original nor the remake but i know one thing about the "old masters": everything they had in the game was deliberate. If a character looked a certain way, it had more meaning than just wanting a pretty face in the game. Changing the looks of a character changes more than just the looks.
I also haven't played the game i quickly lost interest in this video because i don't really care, about 3 minutes, but the idea " the creator had every aspect of the game made deliberately" is just not true. Almost every behind the scenes video game has an "we didn't really know what to do so we just left it as it". The one off the top of my head is Tim cain saying "we didn't even mean for fallout to be politcal but maybe on the team did". i just googled "minor things in video games unintended that became iconic" and the first few results shows that literally COMBOS in fighting games were a mistake.
I mean, censoring some scenes, putting key items next to the keyholes, changing the aesthetic and neutering puzzles proves beyond all doubt that the developers don't get it at all. if you don't mind that, what's there is still alright. I guess.
It did quite some oopsies, but I think it pulled through. I'm still pogging over the boss fights. Btw, I don think anything was censored? Maybe that one Pyramid Head scene before the boss fight in the apartments (he ain't eating ass anymore)
@@devilslayer3548 Then it's a reboot, not a remake. And, by that point, the remake should aim to be better than what it's remaking, not worse. All a remake means is that the GAME is remade entirely from scratch in a new engine. That is literally it. The story does not need to change, entire art designs don't need to change, etc. The problem with remakes these days is that they aren't made by the actual people who made the ORIGINAL. So, you get a new host of people who think they can do better without knowing what made the original great.
nope, the original Silent Hill is what comes to mind for me, and honestly deserved a remake way more than 2. don't get me wrong, i love the first 3 games in the series, easy the best horror games of all time...but the original that started it all had a way creepier atmosphere and well, was the origin point for many of the concepts that continue today within the series.
Nah, the grimy PS1-graphics are in favor of the original Silent Hill. Especially the Francis Bacon-influenced design-elements work very well in this low poly-form.
As someone who has never played any of the Silent Hill franchise I can say with no hesitation...I don't care about any of this I'm just here for the waifus.
Interesting thing about the twin pyramid bosses is the eggs they carry, the Scarlet egg and the Rust egg. These allow you to meet the requirements for certain endings; entering the door with the Rust egg allows the leave and in water ending while entering the door with the Scarlet egg allows the leave and Maria ending. Because of this, I thought it was because the pyramid head carrying the rust egg represented the tormentor of his past (memories of guilt for Mary) while the other carrying the Scarlet egg was the tormentor of his present. (Guilt for the desire of Maria or failure to protect her)
I wonder why they didn’t keep the characters looking the same. Like when they remade Resident Evil, Leon looks spot on but in Silent Hill everyone looks… off. And no I hate that “gooner” Ai shit, that also looks nothing like the original model.
@@leonidgal-in707 problem is that they always put Man Jaws on Women's Faces and worse more Bigger heads on the models which makes their Appearance even more weird

couldn't care less about the Angela model changes but I think the Maria outfit change kinda misses the point. As you said she represents James' repressed sexual feelings for Mary that he could never have because of her condition. Maria was dressed provocatively as a test specifically to objectify her as a narrative tool and lead to a bad ending if James (aka: the player) couldn't get over his frustrations and instead indulged in staring at and treating her as a sexual object. Dressing her more modestly more or less removes the potential distraction and narrative point in order to do so
the people claiming fans are being too sensitive don't actually understand what the criticisms are. if you claim "it wasn't a big deal to me when they changed *blank*! you're just overreacting. its just a game!!" well clearly you don't understand why these things were important in the original. it's almost like all the "little" and "insignificant" details added up to something greater, creating a classic that people hold dear and don't want corrupted.
Jesus christ. did they really do that? I thought it was a joke god dammit. Her "sexualized" clothing was so obvious for litterally for ever and EVERYONE KNOW THIS. They definitely have an agenda to push. God dammit.
I mean, the original is an early 2000 dive bar waitress outfit. The new outfit is more believable for a woman in her 30s who's less of a good girl than James' wife. Her old outfit would break my immersion...and I played the original when it came out.
17:05 Her brother did not turn a blind eye to Angela's suffering, he also SA'ed Angela with her father. That's why Angela murdered her father and brother. It was her mother who turned a blind eye due to a twisted form of jealousy towards Angela.
All in all I agreed with your points in this review, but are you serious with the "can't see the changes for modern audiences" line? Do you think the: -3rd person camera -action combat -lame puzzles -setpiece design where it wasn't necessary (the hospital chase) AREN'T changes made for the modern player? I like the game a lot but some of these I can take or leave in the context of the game but you can not in good faith tell me that the camera angle change to re2make style does NOT warp the experience in a way that makes it a reimagining instead of a recreation. In the context that it's the "same but different" meme I find this game so weird. Like, someone playing through this doesn't experience the original sh2, and that's good and bad. It's good for the people who picked this up after 2 or pick 2 up after this one (either order is great they are such complementary experiences) but bad for the modern audiences who will play this, say they played sh2 and then ride that wave their whole lives without even giving a look to the original or any other sh game. The meme "lifelong fan of sh2, can't wait to play it for the first time, going in blind" ia too real
He probably associates "modern audiences" with "woke - progressive" things and that's why he says there is "none" of that in the remake. Obviously if the remake didn't have the changes you already mentioned, especially the 3rd person camera, it wouldn't have been bought by the younger generations, that's for sure.

@@OnlyWaifuYT yup! It’s a good summary of the story while also talking about the remake that avoids a lot of popular disinformation. Better then most sh2 content

Great video, appreciate the nonbiased review ^.^ I, for one, encourage branching out to non-Elden-Ring content, even though it will definitely hurt your analytics for a little while. I, and many others, will watch it all anyways.
One of the aspects I hate that they changed is Maria....she isnt what she was in the original. She was supposed to be Mary, but draw on James lust, sexual frustrations etc to urge him on and "down". Thats not here at all, in the originals, shes depicted as a main attraction draw for a gentlemans club, in the remake/remaster/reboot, that is entirely not the case, nothing about how she dresses/acts gives off that level of sultry that she was, and as such its much harder to think that James would be driven by her in nearly that same regard.
Did you mirror the thumbnail??? Also this was very enjoyable to listen to. I had no idea bout the 2nd pyramid head being related to Eddie. As soon as you said it I was like "oooooooohhhhhhhhh."
The puzzles in my opinion are significantly upgraded. Walking a long distance to use an item in a place that’s obvious is not fun! What I like about the puzzles in the remake is that important puzzles are in a hub like near the entrance door. That makes much more sense and also efficient than putting important puzzles in random places that are not easy to reach when needed to be done repeatedly!
SH2 remake seems like a good product to me, but it has nothing about SH2. the voice actors, the story, having the "yellow paint" (white bandages), that now the combat is more like Dark Souls than Silent Hill (even RE2 remake doesn't have a dodge lmao), the cinematics; absolutely nothing. Things like having to move "carts" to get through certain areas, or the character having a monologue or dropping little comments while you're playing just breaks the immersion. As for the character's appearances, I really don't like any of them lmao. The most similar is Maria, but she obviously has her massive jaw that puts James or Red Chin to shame. I understand that if you see the post of that person who made an image with AI everything looks like "haha cummers", but they don't look anything like the original, especially Angela who now looks like the actor from the X-files. I'm not going to say that this is because of a "woke" agenda or anything like that, but obviously they made their faces that way on purpose. The character's costumes are very faithful to the original, but the only one they changed is Maria's, what a coincidence, right?. I know that your channel is in English but you can speak Spanish, I find it curious that I have not seen a single negative review in Spanish. Because of the title of the video I thought you were going to talk more about fan's complaints, rather than do a review of the game. I haven't even said half of the problems the game has but this is already too long. As many have already said "you took something unique and transformed it into something like everything else."
Spanish-speaking Silent Hill fans tend to be the most clueless consumers ever. Even the little negative things I pointed out woule make them go hog-wild and call me a fake fan and shit. To them, you're not allowed to criticize anything. Just buy product and get excited for the next product. We liked the remake. It's not like the OG, but we still liked it.
@@OnlyWaifuYT I still can't like this remake, but I'm glad that at least you're not like those people who say that the remake replaces the original or is the "same game", or things like that. and yes, Spanish-speaking people are quite like this quote "Just buy product and get excited for the next product".
Good review. Having beaten the remake just recently, and the OG dozens of times, I do agree on many of the criticism, but also think you let the 2024 version off way too easily. The pathetically easy puzzles + the key items / solutions often being right next to the target lock was just appalling. I also was disappointed by the map design of the "dungeons", that at first glance seem more open-ended and circular than the OG, but end up being even more funneling, more linear and handholdy. Like you said, old RE and SH games had you exploring quite non-linear-ish, fairly realistic areas that also made you backtrack to old sections, exposing you to risks old and new, but that's been severely toned down now. I also think the remake overstays it welcome in many possible ways. The amount of combat is cranked way too high for this game, ruining the pacing and the tone. The fact that it's the same sort of OTS action slop as the notorious Homecoming from 2008 does not help either, with the forementioned over-shoulder camera also hampering the in-game cinematography quite a bit. The last major issue I got with the nu-SH2 are all the characters and general writing. Everything's played way too "normal" and in a monotonous note, and a lot of things are stretched out for no reason too, ultimately watering down the impact of many iconic key moments. The countless "huh, I don't remember THIS being here!" things + the "Memories" are also truly pushing the timey-wimey sequel to the OG narrative, that tainted the FF7 remake as well.
Oh right... I forgot to mention one massive no-no: The censorship. It's just outrageous that an R18 remake of a psychological survival horror game, which's main themes literally are "SEX and DEATH", needs to be toned down in the year of our lord 2024! These nu-devs NEED to watch some Masahiro Ito's "Fukuro Lady" and "Ki-No-Ko" short films before even joking about making a new SH game.
@@GugureSux you forgot to also mention you’ll go to more comment sections and continue to annoy people with constant distain for the remake as if its your job
My friend and I still joke using SH2 lines in a conversation ("James, honey, did something happen to you?", "You promised you'd take me there again...but you never did") up to this day. This game is a masterpiece - and the "In Water" ending still gives me goosebumps.

@@usernamelegend345 Glad you ,liked it. But even the first Alan Wake was a generic third person shooter with tacked-on "horror" elements. So, that's still a "don't buy" from me.
Imma keep it honest, I prefer Ranni’s last art style over this one. Not saying it’s bad; I just prefer the classiness the previous one exudes. But hey, shout out to people who want to see how best girl looks in different styles.👍👌
wait they took the horror game that was known for its difficulty in item management and puzzles, and just made the average level super easy to get through? What sense of accomplishment can I get from that? All you had to do was upgrade the graphics take out old glitches and maybe add a secret or two (plus one nurse in an extra sexy outfit you know why). How do they keep "failing" this bad. Realistically they just turned a 9/10 game into a 7 at best now. And probably lost the potential of getting new people into this the way the original did.
as long as it's playable offline we can mod it overtime, with how big konami is and politics and DEI + combination of all sorts of people, it's a pass, only because it's not online-only or "live server"
What are you talking about? SH2 was never that hard. The remake actually made it longer to sit through by adding more puzzles and harder combat when back then you could just ran past enemies and stockpile health drinks.

Listen, I’ve never played the original game so maybe I can’t speak. But from what I gathered from the gameplay of the remake, it doesn’t do anything that drastically different from the original game that would make it an improvement from the original game overall, outside of just graphics. Not to say it’s bad game, but if your someone who has played the original game and your hoping this remake with recapture the magic of the original, it won’t do that for you… and to me, that makes it a bit of a let down. It probably would have been best if they left it as is..
Yes, I don't think it's a bad game, but the problem is that it is the remake of SH2, I can't evaluate it as a new IP or as a completely new game in the franchise. It's just not SH2.
I played the original when it came out, and many more times over the years. One of my favorite games ever. And I can't agree with anything you said there. It _did_ recapture the magic for me, it _was_ an overall improvement.
Did a Silver-pickled fowl foot slip into my dinner? No complaints but it’s pretty rare and unexpected to see content about a game that isn’t Soulsborne related on this channel (and I know nothing about it lol)
to be fair, there's only so much content you can squish out of elden ring without having another dlc or focusing on invasion streams, it's good to see something different
I don't think the studio who made SH2 remake itself has any agenda to push, but there is a well-known agenda for anyone that hasn't been living under a rock, to the point even Japanese legends from the game industry are starting to complain about it affecting their work when it comes to selling overseas.
Genuinely, it’s really great to have this game available in modern quality for a proper remake. I’m not saying it’s the best, but it’s definitely good. I still love both victims you encounter in the game, it’s still unsettling to me how they act responding to their own trauma and that’s what makes it even better to see this in the realistically scary art direction that is trying to be faithful to the cold and foggy dread around the town. I think Silent Hill 2 is genuinely a good remake as a whole.
The remake does not feel like Silent Hills at all. I wish people would experience the original first, the remake loses a lot of what made the original special.
I’ll push back on it not feeling like a Silent Hill game. I’ve played the original years ago and it’s one of my favorite games of all time, and I think the remake did a pretty darn good job capturing the original. I will however agree that everyone should absolutely play the originals
Yeah, like the comicsans on the Silent hill ranch... It's really good SH in every aspect, can you like it more or less but it is the best silent hill since the 4th entry...
Most important part of this remake was that it made the Silent Hill series relevant and respected again. I hope future installments tap into what makes this series special and don't try to follow a profit. BTW, please more reviews like this

Reminds me a bit about how some people disliked the Ashley change in the RE:4 remake because they changed her clothes a bit. Turns out they actually improved her as a character and she was no longer just eye-candy/comedic relief/annoying AF.
Yeah, Ashley was an improvement for sure, same with the story, tho it did lose some of the campyness of the original. About the SH2R, I do think the new VA and characters (well, how the characters are portrayed) is weaker than the original, and I don't think the game in general is as creepy as the original, but nowadays there's plenty of ways to play it, so if people are enjoying the remake, then good for them. I will still treat as a happy accident, cus I don't believe even for a second Konami funded the game for any intention other than milk the most popular title for what is worth, if they truly wanted people to get introduced to the saga and update it for current times, they would've started with the original SH on the PS1, not 2.

In regard to the woke stuff: Konami did hire a DEI consultant team to work on this game, and even if the effect of that are not felt in this particular title, if you don't openly criticize them now, you WILL feel the modernity in their next game. The game isn't bad but the original hits more tones. Most notable with the first Pyramid Head and Maria scenes as well as the Leave ending. James also seems less manly in dialogue like the final fight against Pyramid Head. It doesn't help that mods making characters look more like the original game have gotten people banned.

This game changed my mind BUT please remember, don't trust Konami and never preorder. Please please never preorder. They are still massive corps don't trust them.
They aren't in the clear. It's just one step in the right direction. Out of leaps and bounds of idiotic decisions.
KONAMI is a bunch of asshole, i will never forgive them for firing kojima
Not a word said about the unnecessary change to Maria's outfit?
I honestly forgot about it. Was it unnecessary? Yes. Did it bother me? Eh, not that much
@@OnlyWaifuYT if things that major don't bother you, what does? A remaster shouldn't completely change a character's design.

@@Ashurman666 That's not why, and you know it.
The mythical 'modern audience' that doesn't exist.
I was alive when the original was out, but I'll never play it over the remake again.
I haven't played the original nor the remake but i know one thing about the "old masters": everything they had in the game was deliberate. If a character looked a certain way, it had more meaning than just wanting a pretty face in the game. Changing the looks of a character changes more than just the looks.
Yeah, that is known as context. A fact that lot of shills "coincidentally" tend to sweep under the rug.

The story does not need to change, entire art designs don't need to change, etc. The problem with remakes these days is that they aren't made by the actual people who made the ORIGINAL. Then you're competing with pyramid Head
And he has a bigger knife than you
Interesting thing about the twin pyramid bosses is the eggs they carry, the Scarlet egg and the Rust egg.
Like when they remade Resident Evil, Leon looks spot on but in Silent Hill everyone looks… off.

couldn't care less about the Angela model changes but I think the Maria outfit change kinda misses the point.

All in all I agreed with your points in this review, but are you serious with the "can't see the changes for modern audiences" line?
Do you think the:
-3rd person camera
-action combat
-lame puzzles
-setpiece design where it wasn't necessary (the hospital chase)
AREN'T changes made for the modern player?

Silent Hill 2 first mod I found is to remove the smoke (fog). Truly we live in the modern era.
For the original or the remake?
Oh right... I forgot to mention one massive no-no:
The censorship.

Good overall video. Kind of prefer your old "Ranni" avatar but the new one is still good.
Remember guys alan wake 2 stull hasnt broke even on how much it cost to make
Alan Woke?
because its a good game, people are just delusional and think games being "woke" is what leads to some of their downfall, where in reality, those games are just bad.
@@usernamelegend345 So, is Alan Wake 2 good or bad?
@@stevekramerf242 its good
@@usernamelegend345 Glad you ,liked it.
And probably lost the potential of getting new people into this the way the original did.
as long as it's playable offline we can mod it overtime, with how big konami is and politics and DEI + combination of all sorts of people, it's a pass, only because it's not online-only or "live server"
because now all the games are a generic 3rd person shooter, like the last 20 years. why? Because otherwise the younger generations won't buy it.
L take
When i turned off the tutorials and hints the game was much more difficult and similar to the original dude.
What are you talking about? SH2 was never that hard. The remake actually made it longer to sit through by adding more puzzles and harder combat when back then you could just ran past enemies and stockpile health drinks.
"Deviant art mascot" I lost it at this point xD
24:11 Thank you for this. It's always been infuriating to me how people will condemn one extreme and then feel like they must side with the other, even though it's just as unreasonable. Extreme woke, extreme anti-woke, both equally insufferable.
Ah yes, god forbid I think about anything, might get labeled "woke" by some rumor churning person on the internet who is amused by middle school tier nonsense.
I very much enjoyed that! Always been big on video essays, and I hope you do take the time to make more.

@@Knightmare22 if you played the original, you would immediately notice how different the moment to moment gameplay is combat wise.
As someone who HAS played the original to 100% completion and has done challenge runs, It has definitely recaptured the magic from me.
people rlly be giving opinions without ever playing the game huh
OnlyWaifu talking about another game is something I never expected, but a welcome addition nonetheless.
There's an Angela MOD??? omg, now i'll buy the game...when its on sale.
Did a Silver-pickled fowl foot slip into my dinner? No complaints but it’s pretty rare and unexpected to see content about a game that isn’t Soulsborne related on this channel (and I know nothing about it lol)
ohh, branching out, nice!
I love this game but i still cant believe they gave angela a minecraft character head
play armored core VI if you're a FromSoft fan
to be fair, there's only so much content you can squish out of elden ring without having another dlc or focusing on invasion streams, it's good to see something different
I don't think the studio who made SH2 remake itself has any agenda to push, but there is a well-known agenda for anyone that hasn't been living under a rock, to the point even Japanese legends from the game industry are starting to complain about it affecting their work when it comes to selling overseas.
I do believe we're at the "yes it's happening and that's a good thing" stage of that.
as long as they dont require online and made it easy to mod, you know what will I say
Go outside.
The worst thing is that they commissioned a foreign studio to do the remake instead of a Japanese one, why?

So this is what Ranni is doing after getting to the Moon. I like it! Please play and give us your review Little Ranni!!!
It is different, but it surprisingly is a good Silent Hill game
I’ll push back on it not feeling like a Silent Hill game. I’ve played the original years ago and it’s one of my favorite games of all time, and I think the remake did a pretty darn good job capturing the original.
I will however agree that everyone should absolutely play the originals
Yeah, like the comicsans on the Silent hill ranch... It's really good SH in every aspect, can you like it more or less but it is the best silent hill since the 4th entry...
I'm glad someone said it for once christ. I don't think it's good at all though, it's extremely paint by numbers.
Sadly, only on ps2 or that garbage collection is it possible to play to original so this is the best they got

Very much enjoyed the video, hope that this leads to more videos like it keep up the good work and looking forward to your next video!
Most important part of this remake was that it made the Silent Hill series relevant and respected again. I hope future installments tap into what makes this series special and don't try to follow a profit. BTW, please more reviews like this
This is why I love watching your videos and since the last comment we had, was waiting for this video to come out. I've always enjoy your Elden Ring videos, but glad to see your a Silent Hill fan. Also James believes it's been three years and why he couldn't remember killing Mary because he became an Alcoholic since he learned about Mary's sickness. To a drunk, a year can feel like three years if he doesn't stop drinking and can have memory issues when drunk. Also the Remake for Modern Audiences it's a great game and understand why, but as a Silent Hill Concept, they did mess up in a way. The best way to explain Silent Hill 2 remake is like baseball. It was a Hit, but made it to second base only and not a home runner. I'm trying to finish my video that is taking a lot of my time to put together because I don't want to miss any important details and will be my first Content video that isn't on this channel profile. I do streaming and my thought videos only on another channel that I don't advertise in comment because I find it rude.
Reminds me a bit about how some people disliked the Ashley change in the RE:4 remake because they changed her clothes a bit.
Turns out they actually improved her as a character and she was no longer just eye-candy/comedic relief/annoying AF.
Which is ridiculous cause that was quite literally just her usual clothes but with a jacket.
I mean, that's all she was in the story was a macguffin, eye-candy, comic relief, and annoying as shit.
no doubt. i love the RE4 remake so much.
@@tenjenk But the jacket hid her 'Ballistics' lol I don't care either way, once you unlock the knight armor you just leave her in that so she can't get carried away constantly.
Honestly I enjoyed this video a lot. I'm glad to see that MAJORITY of people like this game and hopefully this inspires them to do more remakes.
(Also side note but I feel like a lot of people crap on the other silent hill games when, lets be honest, they aren't as bad as people make them out to be)
Why? There are only three Silent Hill-games. And the series ended in 2003.
@@stevekramerf242 Silent hill 1, Silent hill 2, Silent hill 3, Silent hill the room, Silent hill downpower, Silent hill homecoming, and Silent Hill origins. That's defiantly more then 3 and Silent Hill downpour was made in March 2012. All of those games could defiantly benefit from a remake
Me gusta tu nuevo look y que hables de Silent Hill! Saludos desde Argentina! 🖤
Found a good comment, "It's a modern version for modern gamers. To me it's just another case of 'The original is better'."
Complaining about the game being made just a bit worse is not idiotic, OnlyWaifu.
Dodging YT censorship when making a video is genuinely becoming an Olympic sport LMAO

The fact that I got that ending just because of looking at a knife is a bit savage 💀

Gimme that sweet watchtime, babyyyy
Haven’t played the games or watched the video yet, so I don’t know which character is the original or really anything about the situation, but just looking at the two characters in the thumbnail, the one on the right is instantly more likeable and relatable to me personally. She’s the one I’d choose where this a character selection screen.
In regard to the woke stuff: Konami did hire a DEI consultant team to work on this game, and even if the effect of that are not felt in this particular title, if you don't openly criticize them now, you WILL feel the modernity in their next game.
That being said, I'm very much glad that the game came out good, and that the team is open to listen to criticism and update the game.
It makes me hopeful for MGS3.

The game isn't bad but the original hits more tones. Most notable with the first Pyramid Head and Maria scenes as well as the Leave ending. James also seems less manly in dialogue like the final fight against Pyramid Head. It doesn't help that mods making characters look more like the original game have gotten people banned.
What? Banned from where?
@OnlyWaifuYT Sorry but I couldn't find the vids. The situation was similar to the Spiderman 2 flag mod situation on Nexus. I think waifu is a bit biased, and he's willing to overlook minute details for a fresh new experience. I know this because I'm biased towards the Resident Evil 3 remake back in 2020. I love the remake just as much as the original, if not more. All the complaints I hear about the game are the omissions of 2 areas, but I always prefer quality over quantity.
something about Ranni doing game reviews feels so wrong.... Keep going I want to explore that feeling.

Why do I mention that? Because I have tried to play Silen Hill 2 several times, and I had to quit, twice because it was too scary and once because I told myself that it was just a game, and that broke the immersion to the point of making it boring.
I stopped watching at the spoiler warning, and I'm going to play the original just for the sake of watching the review.
