- My first time on a stand up paddle board. what could possibly go wrong?
This is a short fun video of me learning to paddle board.
My wife and I recently purchased a SUP as she has been paddle boarding with friends and has grown to love it. So we decided it might be something fun we can do together.

Well done, I have terrible balance, and would be useless at this sort of thing. The laugh after you stood up somehow brought to mind Ming the Merciless in the closing scene of Flash Gordon. I mean that in a nice way.
Bet you wish you wore pants!! 😆 loved it Dan! You looked a natural… some of the time 😅 makes me want to get my board out again, haven’t been on it in ages!

Been out a few times since this and getting the hang of it. It’s great fun. Going to camp off it with Col next month. Looking forward to that 👌👌

Carly did initially say ‘yellow plant’ so I was thinking the Marsh Iris were flowering along the canal bank. ‘Purple’ is clearly the Rhododendron blossom that we saw later on. Y’did well for your first time😊👍. Being more of a surf/skate/skimboard bloke I really struggled with changing my stance to the SUP stance & gave up😏. ‘Goofboard’ is good for all those balance, tricks & board exercises at home if you do a search on them😎👍. Good to see you both out together again. Get the practice in before that summer holiday 😊
Loved it and yes ashamed to say, I am very disappointed. Should have been working but nope I was waiting for the big splash. Carley made me laugh when she was getting you to do the leg lifting.. Excellent video x

I came pretty close but it was a surprise to me to be honest that I stayed dry. Had a proper blast though, can’t wait to go again 👍
Just seen the end, not sure if yours is the same but you can use the pump on mine to deflate it, makes life a lot easier packing up 👌🏼

G'day Dan, Carley, a shipload of fun for sure and well done staying dry. Must say haven't seen an inflatable job before, nor a seat, nor gear carry; quite versatile and far easier to transport.

Hey Duke, yeah it’s great. We’ll pleased with it. Seems a good thing for Carly and I to do together. And I will camp off it too now and then I reckon. The seat is a real bonus for when it’s loaded with gear 👍👍
Nice stretch of calm water there Dan👍 Definitely a good place to learn the paddle board before the ocean or fast current waters. Mrs CLB looks to be liking the board tremendously, she took to standing right away. Good job both, no wet heads. Very quiet waterway with natures song to serenade. Great trip on the canal, no worries only memories and good ones at that. Thanks for the trip on the canal, nicely done. See you next time.

I'm getting better though, by the end of summer I wasbhardly wobbling at all.
Stand like a snowboarder that might help... favorite foot forward least fave back and sideways... Reg will teach you, a bit like skate boarding. I reckon I'd be ace at SUP

Awesome video! I want to point out, though, that I noticed you’re holding the paddle backwards. I’ve heard you have a lot more control when you paddle curved side out. The paddle isn’t supposed to “cup” the water. Hope that helps a bit with steering! Definitely subbing, you guys are awesome. :)

A bit grimy for sure. Lots of old canal boats around that area. Possibly some leakage going on.
