Nice tune-up
I love these “bike stand” short takes.
Then I will keep doing them! Thanks for watching!
There was a recent post on instagram of the steerer tube on this model cracking, I'd definitely take that apart and take a look in there.
Thank You for the heads up!
The headset on my ADHX was just getting notchy, binding on the Deda DCR with Deda Superbox Stem. I took it apart, without disconnecting any of the brake cable fittings, and discovered that on top of the bearing was a ceramic spacer with steel shims on top of that. It was the steel shims which were rusted and binding. Bearings were fine. I cleaned and sanded off the rust and regreased everything and reassembled. I also stuffed foam strips (folded over) into the bottom of the DCR stem where water ingresses where the cables enter the stem. I should have thought of filling in those open spaces sooner, as they direct moisture and water directly into the bearing/spacer area on top of the headset.
This headset was so encrusted with salt from his sweat that I couldn’t drop the fork out to inspect his bearings. But luckily in the process of diagnosis the notchiness resolved itself 🤷♂️
Was gonna get one of these, but ive seen top tube snap with internal cables
On Look bikes?
@@SeeYouUpTheRoad Well, i aint saying its a problem exclusive to look. The general consensus is that the look factory in tunisia has better qc than most. But i would just worry about whats going on in there with those cables. and not being able to see it.
With DT Swiss paws system you don't use any oil. Just DT Swiss special light grease. And with DT Swiis rachet system red grease.
Hmm thank you! Well I will see him again soon for new tires. I can clean all that out and use the grease you recommend. The system was completely dry.
@@SeeYouUpTheRoad Just remember - lithium is for corrosion resistance (green stuff), molybdenum is for surface hardening protection (red stuff). Ratchets and paws (hard things) should be treated with the red stuff. Wait a moment. You actually did the right thing :-).
It's a bike build for speed. You should upgrade to 23mm tires if you want to go fast. Never ever buy in to the GCN class BS that wider tiers are more "aero".
oh I wouldn't ever believe GCN saying they are more aero. But my 195 lb customer (89kg) would really enjoy the comfort moving from 28m Gatorskins (god awful tires) to 30mm 5000 STR tubeless and lower pressure. That's our goal.
He is as aero as a house rolling down the street 🤣 Since 87% of aerodynamics come from the rider we can be sure we don't care about the bike's aero claims or anything GCN says 🤣🤣
why are tour de france riders going wide then? If there is such an advantage, they would go 23mm as you say. Tadej Pogacar was 28c last year.
@@evanl7743 correct!
@@evanl7743 Because they ride too stiff frames due to the whole disc brake garbage and suck for some suspension. Remember: they all ride what they are told to ride.
@@SeeYouUpTheRoad Gatorskins on that beautiful bike 😱😱
Txitter!
Yes! 🫡
thanks for watching
