    Nice clip Jamie out there doing it and a nice catch between the two of you. What a great use of the shoe horn too as a paua shucker.

      I find it's actually more useful for putting fins on and off, it's one of those situations being overweight, I have a lot of abdominal fat so hard to learn forward to put fingers into the fins to get the fins on. If shorediving I sometimes leave it on the beach. In this video, when I get out of the water you can see me walk over to the chinese group and pull the shoehorn out of the sand. Nobody's going to steal it, and if they do, it's $4 from the warehouse.

      It's a company on Facebook called Timalu, I don't think they have a normal website, and I think timalu does other stuff like excavation, demolition, earthmoving etc. See if you can find it.

      It's coming up monday night, my experience has been not to release videos on friday/sat/sun because people aren't watching... they're busy doing other things. And I can't rely on subscribers being the ones to watch my videos because 65% of all my video views come from people not subscribed and from UA-cam reccomending videos to them, LOL. So no, not coming out till monday.
      In the meantime, if you want to see more paua dive adventures. I reccomend going through my season 2 or season 3 playlists and picking out a couple of videos to watch. The videos are pretty evergreen.... ie- will still be relevant and interesting to watch years from now. I reccomend picking out one of the videos with my inflatable boat, it's always fun taking the boat out for a paua dive (Usually it's Akaroa).
      My channel is pretty seasonal too so generally no videos over winter, which is why I release the dive videos in "seasons" just like a TV show. Here in canterbury the water is pretty undiveable 6 months of the year due to poor marine conditions.

      Yeah this ease of access is why Kaikoura only has a limited paua season

      Water temperature is still not too bad up there, mabey 14 or 15 degrees, I was comfy still in my 3mm wetsuit. Another month or two though and 5mm will be the way to go.
      You should really come over to my house over winter and have a coffee, you can see all my dive gear, mabey try on a wetsuit if you want to try out different size or brand or thickness. And you can tell me about what you'd specifically like to have a go at. Spearfishing and paua and cray diving isn't as easy as it looks and I'm no master myself, I've still got a lot to learn.
      You can get in touch by messaging me on facebook, there is a Kiwi Kaimoana facebook page. (Or you can just find me on FB and add friend)
      Kaikoura Paua season still goes till about June 15th, so I dunno if your shoulder will be healed up enough by then... but if so, it's easy pauas there.

    Can you still catch paua in end July? Without diving? Sounds like a cool adventure to catch one of Chinese delicacy myself but I can't swim >.

      how come you don't make deep south productions videos anymore? I want to see a fishing video or diving video from DSP. I even have a DSP baseball cap.

    Great happy that you dived for and got your quota of paua.How naive of you to think that you discovered this rock. You sure are a movie star for revealing this dive spot to the world.Its of no concern to you that if you return,that this rock it will be cleaned out.No wonder maori have put in a reserve of no collection of shell fish around the kaikoura peninsula. The moral of my story is take your quota and shut up about it.

      Thanks for taking the time to watch the video. Your critisism seems a bit harsh though. By the end of your comment it makes me wonder... are you someone that actually would prefer nobody make fishing or diving videos at all?, on the basis of "protecting the spot". If so, while I can understand the concept... it's also not the world we live in. We live in digital times where ppl take photos and videos of things they like and share them online. These are the times we live in.

      @@KiwiKaimoana Read my comment again slowly brah everthing i mentioned is true.So you want to carry on doing the same thing in another district without the permission of the locals, my advice to you is watch your back.

    • @KiwiKaimoana
      @KiwiKaimoana  12 днів тому +1

      @KotahitangaAotearoa well it's a good thing then that during the paua season... permission of the locals is not required to take the daily limit of 3x pauas. Mpi are the authority and I've been inspected by them several times. Permission of the locals is also not required to operate cameras in public places. So not to worry. Everything is all nice and legal.
