Yeah, pretty ironic. It seems their life is less about freedom than it is about belonging to a tribe in some kind of social meta game with other tribes / football clubs / gangs, etc. It's probably very close to how humans and their ancestors rolled for millions of years; roaming around and competing in small groups, hence the appeal.

Was driving in the fast lane one time. There was a group of bikers on the lane to the right and the back one pulled into my lane and wagged his finger. I laughed at the guy, crossed over 3 lanes, passed on the inner most lane and kept driving. Imagine going through life being that fragile. South Park hit the nail on the head about bikers 😂

As a member of a sport bike MC, I dont slow nor wait for permission to pass from any club, 1%er or not. I do pass with more than enough space, from the other side of the highway if possible to keep it safe. Same as I would with any other riders. I have yet to catch any issues but im ready for anything. My story on ‘respect’ and passing a so-called 1% gang. My girlfriend and I were riding our bikes on a 3-lane surface street. We came up on about 4-5 guys with colors that were in the center of the 3 lanes. We were in the left lane and, since it was clear, we were going faster. We went to ride by these guys like they were any other bike or car on the road. The guy in the back swerved into our lane and starts waving his hands and making us slow down.
We were both saying in our comms “WTF is this?”. This guy intentionally impeded our progress on an open and public road for just one block. Then they turned off on a side street.
In my world respect is earned, not forced upon you. I know how the real world works, I’m not going up against a bunch of thugs just because they think they own the road. I stayed back and let them be…but I have zero ‘respect’ for them.

I rode up on a big pack of 1%ers in the UK who were going really, really slowly on the motorway (well under 40mph when the limit was 70) and the riders at the back of the convoy were weaving in a way that made it obvious to me they didn't want anyone to pass. So I hung back and waited. And then a little old lady drove past me in a tiny car and tried to overtake them and I watched as they repeatedly blocked her, made threatening hand gestures and kicked at the side of her car until she eventually got spooked and dropped back. But you know, they sometimes help out charities so that's fine....

Every time I hear 'respect' I think is 'insecurity'. Seriously, if these boys are up to some real business then why waste time and risk exposure over some insignificant bullshit on the road? It ain't personal, it's not a slight. Sure it may be because they don't respect you but so what? What exactly have you done to earn their respect today? Should they show respect because all your mates are there and outnumber them? Physical might is no guarantee of long term rule. Getting _genuine_ respect that's been earned through calm and fair authority would be a good place to start. Throwing a tantrum over an overtake is the opposite of that. Just move on and do ya thing.
And yeah none of this matters when my head's being kicked in or I've been shot etc. But after all that, who's the bigger man?

That's how it really is. The guys that are doing some real stuff don't act like children. If they aren't wearing their stuff they don't brag or talk about it either.
Family friend of ours, he is like an uncle to me, is one of those. Nicest guy ever. I was actually surprised to see him one day in his jacket. Same with his son in law and his daughter. Never would have guessed. We did know his family were long time marijuana growers in northern California and we're setting up in WA and OR when it legalized.
It was only made awares to the rest of us when my mom who was setting up the legal side of some new dispensaries in WA and OR, who were also friends of ours as well as friends of my "uncle", was approached by cartel. In an uncomfortable fashion. They didn't like the control us native/local families had over our own business. Oops.
And that is when I learned, what his club was really about. And that he was a member. And so we're some of our other friends and my real uncle's too (mom's brothers). It operates, the way the original Italian Mafia did for Italian immigrants and their businesses new to a country or living in a community that couldn't protect them the way they needed it. Cartel does not own or operate any dispensries or farms in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
Those guys that took care of it won't ever brag about and are really nice guys who try to not grab attention. They don't have big egos and don't start shit between other clubs over petty bullshit.

Ride like you have some sense, be courteous to other riders, boils down to just don't be stupid. It's not rocket science. "they were going a certain speed out of respect" .. "they don't know who you are so theyre defending their brother"
I could go on with quoting comments from this video. When did we agree to this? Who made these the unspoken 'rules' of the road?? I'll tell you and them the same thing: i pay taxes to use the road and not to them. I did not vote for them to be the road authorities nor are they legally. Its disrespectful to pass? The fuck it is. Its disrespectful to expect someone to need your permission. I don't give a fuck how many years it took them to work to their position in a 'club' i am not a part of. These 'clubs' don't run the country or our lives. The claims made in defense of people who do these things are nothing more than deflections for thugs to justify their actions.
Additionally, the video of the guy getting kicked on the bike actually happened. Saying its 'click bait' is a poor attempt at deflecting and gaslighting someone's actions into being innocent.
You talk about respect, yet you support actions that are disrespectful and damaging to the motorcycle lifestyle; which many of us participate in without the regeim of a 'club'

As a sport bike rider I'm a lone wolf, never think you can roll up in a group whether they're 1% or not. I came up on a huge group of some Mongols here in Denver at the gas station, nothing but respect from them and to them. As I was pulling out of the gas station I was given the right away to go ahead of them by an OG because he knew I was on the road that day for speed. I passed with care, head nods and peace signs ✌️ once I got far enough ahead I throttled and went on with my speed ride. That's that. I also wrecked my gsxr on some gnarly twists in a canyon road, low sided on some sand riding early in the season and sand was down from snow the month earlier. A couple 81 boys helped pull my bike out of the guard rail.

So I kicked back for a minute and was like ‘nahh I can’t do this’ so I just drifted pass them . And then I couldn’t pass anymore knowing the road got smaller and they tried to go around around like I did but I knew the road and knew you couldn’t go any farther on the side. So they hopped back in a couple car links up. I ended up cutting out the right side where I knew I could pass all the congestion and never saw them again. Everything was gravy. But it did cross my mind. Like if it was ‘disrespecting’ them. I didn’t blow by either I just slowly passed, respectfully. Not blaring my exhaust or anything. Even if you ain’t in it you just show respect. Like you said when it comes down to it we gotta stick together against all these ignorant ass drivers. I was raised around a lot that involved respect but wasn’t on two wheels. And shiii when it comes down to it, I ain’t never truly alone. I always got my baby with me 😏 dope video though

Always observing in front,be side and behind me well ahead of time.i can easily pick out whats what.regardless if its a club,a honda,a trike,a slingshot ect.it dont matter i always throw the two down and three down for 3 wheelers.im out riding to be free, enjoy the scenery and the alone time,im not out to act tough, portray an image or be a jackass.i respect all bikes/bikers and act accordingly.there has been times i come up,maybe to close idk,i see the patch and i back off and wait for a signal.much respect brother!i respect all mc,i treat them how i wanna be treated and get the same back.dont talk to much,be a man, carry the conversation as you see fit.its like talking to a war vet,i feel the same talking to a 1%.i love the conversation, the storys ect.its all about the respect given as the respect youll be given back.

I watched this about a year and a half ago as I was first getting into the culture and have come back to comment now that I have ridden peg to peg with an MC because I get it now. After watching how the pack moves, I realized this all makes a lot of sense. It was a memorial ride on a country highway that wound through some towns. I saw how often the blockers would have to pull out and race ahead to block an intersection. As a guest, I started off in the back, but as all the blockers jumped out, I moved to a position about 6 back from the front. There were also two blocking vehicles as well. It didn't matter on open stretches, and they let people pass us as normal, but on closer sections, where they knew many blockers would be jumping out, they controlled the traffic from behind. Watching how all of that got communicated while riding just by where the RC positioned his bike was wild. I can see now why, in some cases, they don't let people by. There are a lot of ways things could go sideways safety-wise, and a lot of people could get hurt or killed. It's a complicated dynamic. So, I now see the issue of respect entirely differently. It's got a lot less to do with patches and attitudes and a lot more to do with safety and common sense. #ghostin

Real club members professionals don't worry about stuff like this. There's a way to pass but but real MC members see riders as riders that's it. Club members know what and who they are looking out for. So just pass the same way you would pass anyone else. Only MC members with something to prove act like fools.

Great video once again. Maybe something you could touch on from a non club perspective is what sort of actions are acceptable around 1%ers? Could giving deuces as opposed to thumbs up or hang loose be looked at as disrespect in the club world? I’m a trucker primarily so in a rig it’s a bit different, wondering what good when I’m out line wolf.

"Sport bike flys by, we catch up to him at the gas station and it doesnt go well for him"
This is how people get shot, I passed you, whatever, last thing thats gonna happen is a handful of "club" bikers threaten or attack me. Clubs arent above anyone else, its a motorcycle, thats it.
The funeral one, again, if a bunch of dudes are attacking me for passing, I'm letting lead fly.

First off thank you for sharing this information, it will help motorcyclists like myself. I love motorcycling. I ride every single day, it brings me peace in the worst times, and not a single person on this planet will tell me how i will ride. I respect and love humans, and i live my life in consideration for others, but I refuse to accept anyone imposing self made "laws" especially on my bike. Just like if i was to encounter an asshole walking down the street, i will quickly remove myself from the situation, same on the bike. I ride my own ride. I would never intentionally disrespect any fellow biker like flying through a formation, but im definitely never going to sit and wait behind your pack, im zoomin right by you on my plastic rice cooker on wheels i promise you you would never catch me and it would most definitely be the last time yall would see me.

I ride a motorcycle to get to work and to put less miles on my truck. If some dudes in a “club” want to keep me from passing, all because im also on a bike, they have a personal problem. It’s public roadways. Some of us use a bike simply for transportation.

Im retired Air Force, although what happend was a few years back stationed in Germany.
Rolled up on the HA on the autobahn. They were about 60 to 70 deep; was cool to seem them although they were in slow lane, and my turn off coming up. Like you said pay attention, respect the road, respect each other. I passed them before my turn off, did not realize how deep they were until my turn off was almost up. I signaled, slowed down and waited for the go ahead to cut through their ranks. Again common sense, no reason to blast through em, just wait a sec or two. Then no problems.

I appreciate all of your vids and, although it's been some years since I had a bike, I plan on getting another one so it helps to make sure I don't get jammed up by just trying to do my own thing.
I have had a problem and I still don't know how to handle it. From my city (Sacramento, CA), going up the hill towards S. Tahoe, a lot of MC ride up there. It's 2 lanes each way and they usually just form up in the right lane and cruise. One time I went to pass since they were just doing about 65. I didn't pass fast, but for some reason, they surrounded my car and pointed me to get behind them. The lane was clear and I wasn't flying. I had to drive behind them for 30 miles before they exited. Loud as hell since I'm in a convertible.
So, next time I saw a group (same 1% MC - won't state the colors), I came up to the last guy, signaled forward and a thumbs up. He waved no. That time, I held back for a min and then flew past at about 140 mph (it's a 200mph+ car). They all took off after me, but I was long gone.
I asked a friend who's affiliated with another MC, and he just said it was just the car and they were messing with me because they could.
So... how is one supposed to avoid this situation if respect isn't given at all? I thought it was normal to leave regular vehicles alone as long as they're giving the MC space. Summer is coming up and it's bound to cross paths with another group. I want to show respect, but it should be given back also. Especially when someone not on a bike is just cruising. Are some groups just that bad? Thanks for any input.

#Ghostin #Connecticut. When I was about 19 and on my first Harley (1980 XLH) I was entering the highway from an on ramp right into the middle of a local East Coast 1% club. They changed formation to let me ride with the pack for a few miles until my exit. I was excited and terrified at the same time.

As someone that owned a Yamaha R1, I've always just instinctively gave respect to other motorcyclists, for me, when I'm ripping up the hwy, if I see a formation, I just slow it up a bit, pass on outside of their club and give a thumbs up, and 9 times outta 10 they usually nod back, and I throttle it. Never had an issue. Just like you said, it's respect and understanding points of view. Good vid bro.👍👍

As a guy whos been 2 wheels only for over 13 years, rode cruisers, rode super nakeds, rode racebikes, rode adveture bikes, through the hot summers and icy winters with no other choice, I dont use the term biker for myself. Ive tried the MC thing. It contridicts its own reputation. Just another set of rules, another group strength collective.
I'm a man of my word, so my choice of words matter. Respect is EARNED with time and shared experiences. Reverence is what most ppl mean when they say respect. So I give propper space to MC's, Im one wolf and they're a pack. Its can be very simple. But if this pack is fishing for drama and holdimg me up, if I can Ill pass by them in other lanes.

My dad told me about a situation he was in while riding once, he’s not in any clubs or anything he’s just a casual rider, (72 sportster with a few engine upgrades), he was just casually riding one day when two other bikers (from a gang/club) flew straight passed him, one on either side of him at the same time, he was a bit surprised so he did it back, except he flew straight between the two of em, looked in the rear view mirror an they just flipped him off an that was the end of it. Happened in Melbourne Australia

From Southern California and have been riding a decade + and never thought twice about any "unwritten rules" on public roadways. I drive blazing fast all the time, and I blow by people going slow all the time... these can be moms in SUV's, or a motorcycle "club" slowing down traffic. If you guys wanna make up silly rules to hold each other to, go for it - but I didn't sign up for that clown show lol!
