  • After being diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumor in 2008, Courtney’s prognosis was not good. A referral to Johns Hopkins neuro-oncologist Karisa Schreck and neurosurgeon Jon Weingart changed the course of her illness. They identified the tumor as having a specific mutation in the BRAF gene, and they used a combination of surgery, conventional chemoradiation and targeted therapy to reduce its size and then keep the cancer in remission. Courtney is incredibly thankful to be able to enjoy life as a wife and a mother - and to raise chickens. #Glioblastoma #BRAFgene #JohnsHopkins

The surgery must have been at John Hopkins. Dr Weingart was my wife's surgeon. He did a craniotomy Dec 27th 2022. She the fast growing and died Feb 16th 2023. She was only 44. I miss her so much. Glad you are beating this, many don't. We also saw Dr Schreck.

Hello! We need help! My 15yo son has glioblastoma/high grade astrocytoma with piloid features (rare tumor in cerebellum) and with Braf v600e mutation since sept 2022. So far he did 3 craniotomies but the tumor always comes back ☹. We are in Eastern Europe and we can not get the inhibitors as a first line treatment only maybe if standard chemotherapy or radiation will fail. We denied so far the standard chemotherapy or radiation because we know that for this mutation there are targeted drugs. Is there any possibilily for us to acces this inhibitors as a first line treatment? Thank you very much!

Long-Term Cell Phone Usage Linked To Brain Tumors (Glioma). In a recent study published in the Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, it appears as though cell phone usage significantly increases your risk of developing a brain tumor. And not just any brain tumor, a specific type called “glioma” which can be malignant and is linked to microwaves from cordless phones.

The fact that this is not true, and there's has been research on it for decades, is evident from the fact that gliomas are not even a specific tumour.
The link to a specific tumour that has been rumoured many times was vestibular neuroma (or schwannoma). EDIT: NOTA BENE: vestibular neuroma is a benign tumour. The problem is mainly with the fact that it grows and occupies space in the head.

“Landmark Federal Study: Cell Phone Radiation Linked to Brain Cancer”
      May 27, 2016
WASHINGTON - The radiation emitted from wireless devices could cause brain cancer, according to a multi-year study from the federal National Toxicology Program.
The results appear to confirm human evidence used by the World Health Organization that declared cell phone radiation a possible carcinogen.
The research found that male rats exposed to radio-frequency (RF) radiation had a greater chance of being diagnosed with a brain cancer called malignant glioma, as well as developing a tumor found on the heart. The radiation levels the rats were exposed to included power levels that current cell phones are allowed to emit.
This study from the National Toxicology Program, part of the National Institute for Health, was conducted on laboratory animals to help determine what the potential risks might be for people, noted EWG president Ken Cook.

A four-year study conducted by Reflex and funded by the European Union, with its findings released in December 2004, examined the effects of radiation from cell phones on animal and human cells in a laboratory. The study found radio waves from cell phones damage DNA and other cells in the body and that the damage extended to the next generation of cells. Mutated cells are considered a possible cause of cancer. The radiation used in the study was at SAR levels of between 0.3 and 2 W/kg. Most cell phones emit radio signals at SAR levels of between 0.5 and 1 W/kg.
The Reflex report recommended that children limit their use of cell phones to emergency
situations. Additionally, Franz Adlkofer, who led the Reflex study, advised people to use landlines, rather than cell phones, wherever possible.

In May 2005, a study published in the British Medical Journal reported using a cell phone in rural areas might lead to the development of brain tumors. The study found residents of Swedish rural areas who had been using a cell phone for more than three years were more than three times as likely to be diagnosed with a brain tumor as those living in Swedish urban areas. The risk of a brain tumor quadrupled for more than five years of rural area use and, for malignant brain tumors, the risk was eight times as high for those living in rural areas. Since base stations are further apart in rural areas and require a higher signal intensity to compensate, there is a difference in the power output and a greater risk between cell phones in urban and rural areas.

In 2009, the Journal of Clinical Oncology published a meta-analysis that found evidence linking cell phone use to tumors. The paper analyzed 465 scholarly studies that had conducted experiments concerning cell phone radiation and cancer. After combining all of the data from these studies, the meta-analysis demonstrated a significant positive association between cell phone use and cancer. The meta-analysis also established the association increased with long- term cell phone use.
