It’s worth mentioning that after she was arrested, she accused the 12 year old son of SA-ing the other children. So the state had no choice but to isolate him from the other children while they investigated the claims. SHE DID THIS TO PUNISH HIM FOR GETTING HELP AND ENDING THE ABUSE. From my understanding the 2nd lady manipulated the couple into getting separated for the "good of the children" and at some point after he moved out, the 2 ladies wouldn't let him see the kids anymore.
They were separated he didn't know about the new extremes she was going to. It's also note worthy to mention. Her statement was about remorse, and she even states she does not want her sentence reduced. I think her apologizing to her husband first is part of her understanding of Christianity in which no others, other than God, are to be placed before the marriage.
He wasn't living in the home. He was giving her space, trying to work out the marriage, that was her conditions on working it out. He had no idea.
I just had a baby girl, and NEVER in a million years would think of BINDING my child with handcuffs and duck tape, and starving her.

I hope her actions after the arrest will be factored into her sentence.
I'm pretty sure it was the youngest son she accused - the one who outed her abuse. She said he often makes up stuff, lies, harasses the neighbourhood kids in a sexual manner, etc. There was no evidence of the latter but the state had to separate him from his siblings.

The way her voice goes from crying when speaking about her children to serious when she speaks to the judge is creepy. Even creepier that she still isn't apologising for the abuse she delivered but mockingly apologises for listening to the 'therapist' and causing them harm 'unknowingly'. I think she's the one that is possessed by pure evil.
Nothing is more sickening than children being abused by the people who they should be able to trust and rely on.
There was a government run ad campaign during the Holodomor that said "don't eat your children" because people were being starved so bad that many were eating their children, thinking they could have more later if they survived.

It infuriates me that women like myself are trying so hard to conceive but there are people like that who treat children horribly. No jail sentence will ever be enough for the trauma her children went through.
Gotta be honest, the clip about not giving her kids breakfast until their chores are done was a huge red flag to me. If she is willing to admit that she withholds food from her kids to millions what isn’t she willing to admit.
Every farm kid laughs at the idea that chores done before breakfast is abuse. It’s a fact of life. This lady was a disgusting abusive doesn’t deserve to have kids sort of monster but kids doing chores before breakfast ain’t the reason.
Kind of a non starter for me. I think it could sound abusive if taken out of context. Telling her kids they can't have breakfast until their chores are done, could just of easily been said as telling the kids to do their chores while she made breakfast, So instead of the kids getting breakfast at 8 AM they now have to wait until 8:15. So delaying breakfast would be considered abuse in some people's eyes.
@@ngnmech Euhm, in a normal caring family, you'd expect the children to not have 'before breakfast chores' but that they could just wake up, eat breakfast, watch some cartoons or play... And that IF they had chores, those would be during the day or more towards the evening... Already starting with chores and threats from the moment these kids open their eyes in the morning IS MEANT TO BE A PSYCHOLOGICAL ATTACK to uproot the rest of their day, to mess up their emotional state for the remainder of the day from the very first moment they open their eyes... This was systematic and planned abuse to try and break the spirit of the kids untill they were sad and depressed and unable to resist the abuse in any way
@@shatteredcore In a lot of normal caring families the kids being able to get up eat breakfast, and watch cartoon, or play is not even a luxury. Some kids have serious morning and evening responsibilities that has to be done before and after school. And we are not talking about taking out tje trash or making their beds More along the line of making sure the dogs, cats, cows, chickens, horses, etc have food and water.
I get what you're saying but that sounds... reasonable? Almost everyone has something of that along the line: "no pudding until you finish your dinner", "no dinner until you tidy up", etc. What IS abusive is intentionally not giving them a meal (pudding is a luxury that we don't NEED, but we do need dinner). So if you intentionally give them no dinner every day they don't do that, it would be abusive. But setting boundaries and telling them to prioritise things like washing their face, packing their bag, etc. before a meal isn't abusive.
If you watch the video of the 911 call and listen for long enough, you can hear the neighbor man just about break down into tears over the state of the young boy who showed up at his door.

I used to watch family channels, but I now think it’s crazy that people would put their kids on the internet now. I’ve stopped sharing my kids in my videos as well. They deserve better than that ♥️ so glad it’s becoming less and less common now!

I don’t subscribe to anyone who puts their minor children in their content.
I only watch Vagaboom and Cocinando Corea. These are good authentic wholesome family channels. Vagaboom is a travel channel and they blur their daughter’s face. Cocinando Corea is a channel about a Korean Mexican woman that cooks both Mexican and Korean food mainly but she also travels and blogs and although her kids aren’t blurred they are not always featured but you can feel the kindness of this family.
It is distressing to imagine the level of torment these children experienced. I genuinely hope they receive the professional counseling and support they need to overcome such a traumatic period of their lives.

He was with her all those years watching what she was doing to those kids. They even had marriage counselling from Hildebrandt once. So he may not have directly abused them but he was complicit all the while.
Hi Brett. You should do a video about the father. The Franke family lived in my city, so I grew up with them and went to school with the oldest son. The father couldn't have done something because Ruby had "grounded" the father because he kept trying to free them, give them food and water, and actually help them. Ruby had kicked him out of the house for months and never let him see the kids. She even threatened to get a divorce, take full custody of the kids, and never let them see him ever again. In fact, shortly after the UA-cam channel was deleted, I'm pretty sure he was the one that filed for divorce. It would be really interesting to hear your thoughts and it would make for a great video!
Mmmm, not sure. He would have sufficient recourse, being Mormon he'd be the authority in the home. I don't think there's any excuse for allowing that to happen to his kids. I'm not mormon, but if I was treating my kids like that my husband would put his foot down and would never allow any of that to happen. No excuses for him not doing something.
You’ve got your facts wrong. Kevin didn’t file for divorce until after Ruby was arrested.
What exactly is the reason that the father still has the children and isn't facing charges? He should be facing the exact same charges that the mother is. He apparently just allowed it to happened, and utterly failed in his role as a father. A father that just sits back and lets something like that happen to his children is just as guilty of the crime as the person who did it, imo.
Was he being abused? It's very, very difficult to get help when you're in a genuinely abusive scenario, it's not easy one bit.

My wife used to work with Jodi Hildebrandt at a drug rehab center 20+ years ago. She was manipulative and a man-hater then, and it only got worse. She was censured by the State of Utah's Professional Licensing board a few years ago due to her antics and apparently doubled-down to where she is today. She 100% hitched her wagon to Ruby Franke to try and get internet famous. Well she got her wish, just not in the way she hoped.
This is a very disturbing and heartbreaking story. This mother is pure evil. What kind of a person does this to THEIR OWN CHILD?! This is 100% demonic and satanic. This is straight out of the devil. Period.

No 60 years! In Utah, a person can't serve more than 30 years on a second degree felony.

Brett, the date range is relevant in this case because the in the time specified the average temperature in the part of Utah where the abuse took place is 98 June, 102 July, 100 August. That child's life was in danger just from the heat he was repeatedly exposed to. His mother is a psociopath.
It’s actually always much worse than the averages say. As a kid in that part of Utah we would literally move the tar on the road and our feet would get burned through soccer cleats. Often gets up to 120 in July and August. Very commonly is at least 110.
I think she was more so questioning why she was able to list the exact first and last day of the punishment.
I’m happy you mentioned the father’s complicity. Why are there no charges against him? He didn’t protect his children. He doesn’t deserve them.
You know the justice system and law enforcement favours women in any dispute (Deluth model). The father was powerless.

Franke is worse in my eyes - she abused her kids before she knew Jody, and now that she’s been caught she tries to use emotions to manipulate her public image to get sympathy. At least Hildebrandt doesn’t try as much to mask her true self. But both are terrible women.

I've read they'll each serve 30 years max because theirs are second degree felonies. After the first 4 years - the minimum amount of time to be served per the terms of their plea agreement - it'll be up to a board of parole to determine how much more time, if any, they'll serve. The fact they don't have priors could help them. And I've also read the prosecutor of the case is ok with Franke only serving 4 years because she, apparently, showed "true remorse" - if true, WTF?? The fact she's blaming the abuse on Hilderbrandt when there's *documented evidence* of her being abusive towards her children long before she even met the woman tells me she deserves no leniency. She's using Hilderbrandt as a scapegoat when they're two abusers who enabled each other, and both should serve the maximum possible amount.
Reminds me of Comey when he gave Hillary a pass. Ya know, she didn’t know what she was doing was wrong and she was sorry. So it was all good.

UA-cam is a strange place where an youtube with clear audience of adults in their 20's and 30's can be penalised for cursing or for showing a "too graphic " horror movie scene in a channel about horror movies again, aimed at adults, but child abuse, soft core p-orn in cartoon form and so on get a pass and youtube seems blind to it ... I’m autistic and know better than to abuse children. I have kids of my own. Seeing this evil woman abuse her children boils my blood. Personally, I believe children are a sacred responsibility. Raising good children into better adults is frankly better than any career achievement, fame, or fortune.
I’m impressed by the boys ability to escape and find help. I pray that family heals and that there will be a good adult to step forward and be the loving parent those children never had.

I was abused by my mother and although it never got physical(apart from me needing to protect my dad from her), I still struggle with what she said and did almost 7 years later.
I was 20 at the point the abuse started. She and my dad got into an argument. They argued for probably 20 minutes. Once the argument stopped, my dad came into my room to tell me what had happened. She came in swinging at him.
I got in between them, but she continued to try and get past me. When she realized she couldn’t get past me, she screamed,”I’m gonna fucking kill you!” at my dad.
As I said, I had to hold her back from hitting him. She ended up getting arrested for the threat and taken to jail. We were told she’d spend the night in jail. Before she walked out in cuffs, she claimed she was very upset with me for not letting her assault my dad.
Somehow, due to jail error, she got out only a few hours later. She called her mom(my grandmother) and they showed up at the house, demanding the pistol that we had in the house.
Dad, in an attempt to avoid a physical altercation, tried to lock himself in his bedroom. She lodged her arm in the door so he couldn’t close it and later claimed that he purposely slammed the door on her arm.
She was arrested again and this time properly booked to spend the night in jail. She later said that she was mad that I “took dad’s side” and said she never attempted to assault him. She also said she was done with me for not taking her side.
I didn’t talk to her for a bit after this and didn’t hear from her for a couple weeks. The next time we talked, she denied threatening my dad and saying she was done with me.
I haven’t spoken to her in almost 7 years and I am much better off.
Question here: Where was dad during this abuse was happening. He should not be able to walk away Scott free.

He ran and left those poor kids knowing what she was doing. Definitely lock him up
He was negligent , he went along with the mums questionable parenting style for a while and when it got to a point that he himself probably thought it was too much, he simply ran away like a coward ...

Not defending the guy but Franke kicked him out and told him to stay away as she said him being around was triggering the breakdown of their marriage and if he wanted to have hope of saving his marriage, which he did want to save, then he was required by Franke to give her all the space. This was Hildabrandts idea. So he stayed away during this most horrific time in his kids’ lives. Again no defense by me. It’s all so very very disgusting. He shouldn’t have bowed out so easily. I’ve watched a lot of videos on this story and wanted to shed some light on the actual events.
Disgusting. Where was their father? Was he an accomplice? Did he keep quiet?
Yes he was until they separated then he abandoned them knowing what she was doing. He is just as guilty
It’s super heartbreaking for me because I’ve watched multiple videos of this family. I remember a couple years ago there was a petition to have CPS look at this family and they never did even with the 50,000 signatures… 💔
If she's married and the husband was living in the house, he should be on trial too. I'm curious how he escaped justice. But... not all that curious.
He wasn't in the house he got booted before it got to the worst point but he still knew about some of the slightly more minor abuse
What i want to know is why isn't the "father" also in jail

There's no lawyer that would want to, but if she requests one then someone has to.
It's a guaranteed right under the 6th amendment that you get to have a lawyer.
And a lawyer's job isn't always to argue innocence, but to argue for a fair punishment.

Shouldn't be surprised about this case. Yet everyone has the right to a fair and justified trial. Yet the system is broken anyway. Judges have given murders bail to be released without being monitored. Then some with in less than an hour has killed someone else.

The self aggrandizing courtroom monologue gave me sincere flashbacks to Amber and Depp. Pray these kids receive love, care, guidance, normalcy, and are able to adapt to healthful relationships with caregivers and mentors and then flourish into adulthood.
I remember one of brett’s video saying it is selfish to not have children, like, seriously? People like this mother are selfish to have children! Not everyone should be a parent if they are not capable!

Yes it 100% can be a very selfish decision. I don’t really care if people do either way, but it is better for good people with good values to have children and continue to grow good communities.
This monster comes no where close to good. But alas, humans have free will and we can’t dictate if bad people have kids or not.
It’s worth considering her husband was also abused. Unless you’ve experienced what it’s like to live with someone like this you can’t imagine what happens to your brain.

What’s just as disturbing is that all of Ruby’s siblings are family vloggers too and apparently according to Ruby they have forgiven her and have accepted her back with open arms. Never has it seemed that anyone’s main concern, in that entire family, was ever the children.

What is sad is I lived through something very very similar to this story, however I was adopted from a very poor family into a very rich family and no one would believe me that these horrible things were happening to me. I ran away once and over again and told my teachers at school. But they would all just go to my parents and ask them if this was going on and they would of course say I was lying and everybody believed them because they were rich. To this day I have been emotionally damaged form this.
I'm sorry for you man and the only advice I can give is seek your heavenly father he loves you and can fill that emptiness

I just watched a reporter yesterday speaking of this case and how he felt like she should have e gotten probation. No, just no. I was appalled he would even see it as something that requires zero jail time. This woman belongs in prison, no doubt about it.

Parenthood is a gift and a privilege that not enough people value. I’m a father of 3 and a survivor of child abuse at the hands of my mom. I look at my children and they fill me with such joy, every one of their accomplishments is their victory we celebrate so my babies can grow up strong and brave. These terrible women disgust me.

That’s absolutely atrocious! I’m a mom of 4 and I couldn’t imagine treating them that way. I’m thankful that none of them died from the abuse. Why wasn’t her husband also tried? He saw this going on and did nothing to stop it.
