  • In this woodturning video I take this weird looking Cherry burl and turn a natural edge vessel. I wasn't expecting too much from this piece and was close to casting it in resin but I'm glad I didn't as I think it turned out pretty cool !! I finished it with Danish oil ..

No way. Poop on a log indeed. Here I am, looking at the beginning log, thinking you're looking at it sideways, that the "poop" should be the top. Once again, you show your skill and artist vision. Stunning! Thank you for sharing with us. ❤

Hello Andy! I am from distant Belarus. I have been watching for two years and continue to watch miracles. which you do! I carefully watched how you sharpen and, as they say, I already know how to sharpen myself! 😄 I bought a small machine yet, and oh God ... they told me that I succeeded the first time! And it did not happen without your participation! Thank you very much!🙂👍

Not gonna lie, I am disappointed it wasn't a fossilized poop on some wood or such, but I still love it.
You really capture the natural beauty of wood and preserve the weird aspects instead of cutting them away like some people do. I really appreciate that. It's super cool how the burl created a burned look in this, as well as the contrast between the parts that are smooth wood and burl!

    1. Every time you start working on an uneven chunk of wood I think, "that's got to be brutal on his hands."
    2. I like how you've been changing the playback speed of the videos to get different effects. It reminds me of the wagon wheels spinning backwards on the TV westerns of the 60s and asking my dad, "Why?"
    3. Another gorgeous piece! I bet that tree had no idea of it's inner vase waiting to come out. 😉

The contrast of "sides", the smooth side and the rough side, makes looking at it from differing angles and, probably, under different lights quite appealing. The interior has the same aspects and creates a special character.

This is a really random note, but whatever you managed to do with the framerate so that the log only sort of spun was one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. You were able to make out the parts of the wood shaving off as it was spinning, it was such a cool effect.
